Conversations with a three year old

As Bailey and I sat down to watch Mary Poppins tonight, the beginning of the movie started with the infamous Disney logo and Cinderella's castle...

BK:  Look!  Cinderella's castle!
Me:  I know.  Would you like to go there sometime?
BK:  Yes!  Can I give her a hug?
Me:  Of course.
BK:  Cinderella is my best friend.
Me:  I thought I was your best friend.
BK:  You are.  Cinderella is too.  Mary Poppins is mean to me.

She cracks me up!!

Christmas with Kenny and Meike

My brother and sister-in-law were in Germany for Christmas so they (and my parents) came to visit last weekend.  We opened gifts from them and celebrated Maw-Maw's birthday by going out to dinner and having birthday cake.  Somehow I didn't take any pictures of Kenny, Meike, Maw-Maw, or Pop, but here are some of the kids...

8 Months

Cam,
Your seventh month was full of firsts and milestones.  You celebrated your First Christmas this month!  It was such a joy to share this wonderful time of year with you.  The day before Christmas Eve, you got your first tooth.  You spent three weeks at home over the holidays.  In that time, you finally got rid of your nasty cold and didn't have to have breathing treatments at all.  After being back at day care for only two days, we had to start treatments again.  As if you were only weeks old again, you woke up during the night every day for a week.  We finally tried giving you your cereal right before your bedtime bottle instead of with your dinner.  Works like a charm.  You are becoming more and more mobile.  You have started scooting on your tummy, but not crawling yet.  It won't be long though.  You continue to be such a good eater.  You graduated to Stage Two foods and started eating Puffs.  You are such a happy boy!  When you get excited you wave your hands up and down really fast.  It's so cute!  You continue to put up with your sister which means you are pretty laid back.  She loves to play with you and she can really make you laugh!  I can't believe you are only four months away from your first birthday.  You are growing so fast and getting to be such a big boy.
I Love You,
Mom

Here he is at 8 months, weighing 21 pounds, 10 ounces.

Six Years

Today Judd and I are celebrating our sixth wedding anniversary. We'll be spending the day going to church in the morning, eating lunch at Johnny Carinos, doing laundry to get ready for our first day back to work/school, going to church in the evening, then eating dinner at Whataburger with a bunch of church friends. Not the most romantic day ever (or even close), but it's us. Yesterday, we were trying to remember how we have spent all of our past anniversaries.

1st Anniversary (2004) - We ate dinner at Benihana and stayed at the Omni in San Antonio. My sweet hubby checked into the room early in the day and put roses and candles everywhere! The Omni was significant to us because we stayed at an Omni in Dallas on our wedding night. We also tasted the top tier of our wedding cake. We ate off of our china and drank milk in our crystal glasses. I think we only took one bite! It was not as tasty a year later.

2nd Anniversary (2005) - We ate dinner at PF Changs. We had just found out that I was pregnant with Bailey a couple weeks before. Our parents didn't even know yet. I had gone to the dermatologist after work and took a nap before we went to eat. I was so tired. We were so excited to be parents - that's all we talked about at dinner!

3rd Anniversary (2006) - We don't remember this one clearly, but I think we got a babysitter and ate dinner at The Cheesecake Factory.

4th Anniversary (2007) - We celebrated our anniversary a couple weekends after the actual date at the Westin La Cantera in San Antonio. My parents came to town to keep Bailey for us. We ate dinner at PF Changs, shopped at La Cantera, and enjoyed our beautiful room! The next day we ate brunch at La Madeline and went to a movie.

5th Anniversary (2008) - On our actual anniversary, we went to Saltgrass for dinner and took Bailey with us. Then a few weeks later, we went on a cruise! It was beautiful and we had a great time together.

Happy Anniversary to my best friend, father of our children, the one I love to talk to, laugh with, cry with, watch "our shows" with, watch movies with, eat out with, cook for, drink coffee with, shop with, vacation with, etc., etc., etc. I love you!

Extreme Makeover: Bailey's Room Edition

The day we got home from our Christmas travels, we rearranged Bailey's room to accomodate her new toys.  We set aside a lot of her old toys to donate or put in a garage sale then organized the remaining stuff in plastic tubs.  I got my inspiration from our good friend Jaime, although I'm nowhere near her organizational skills!

We moved her bed to a different wall.
Her new doll house is at the foot of the bed.

The new arrangement gives her more room to play on the floor.
The double stroller and cradle were Christmas presents.

We moved the bookshelf to a different wall too.

And moved the dresser...it was mine as a kid.  Judd painted it pink and changed the hardware.

Princess Shoes and Tinkerbell

Here's a Bailey story...

This year Judd's grandparents gave us money to do their shopping for them.  We decided to get Bailey a new Cinderella dress, a Cinderella crown, and a set of four pairs of princess shoes.  We knew she would love it.

Before we left for Kaufman, we let the kids open their presents from us and the packages from my aunt and uncle in Colorado.  They got her the same set of princess shoes!  She wanted to wear them right away so we opened them and made a mental note to sweep in and grab the princess shoes she would open at Memommie and Grandaddy's so we could take them back.

On Christmas Day, Bailey not only got her princess shoes from Memommie and Grandaddy, she got another set from Judd's cousin!  Now we had two sets to return.

That evening, back at Maw-Maw and Pop's house, Bailey wanted to play with all of her gifts.  She put on her new Cinderella dress and did not understand why she couldn't have the shoes to go with it.  We tried to explain to her that she had a set of shoes at home, but that did not change the fact that she didn't have shoes to wear right then!  We ended up letting her open one of them thinking that it would probably be a good idea to have two sets in case any of them get lost or broken.  So, now she has EIGHT pairs of princess slippers!

We planned on getting her a Belle dress when we returned the remaining set of shoes, but we couldn't find one anywhere.  (Belle is the only dress she doesn't have that goes with the four pairs of shoes.)  We ended up getting a Tinkerbell dress which Bailey loved.  The only problem was that we didn't have shoes to go with it.  Bailey INSISTED that she needed Tinkerbell shoes to go with her Tinkerbell dress.  We tried to tell her that Tink flies and doesn't need shoes, but she wouldn't buy it.  Judd and Bailey made a speical trip to Wal-Mart in attempt to find appropriate Tinkerbell shoes.  They went back and forth between the toy and shoe departments and finally settled on pink satin slippers.  As soon as they got home, Bailey put on her new Tinkerbell dress and shoes.  She's a mess!

New Years Eve

We went to Double Daves for pizza on New Years Eve. Then we came home, put the kids to bed, watched a movie, and barely stayed up until midnight.

Happy 2009!
