Heartbreaking

From our local newspaper:

"Friends and family today are mourning the deaths of a Sealy mother and her two children following a multi-car collision Friday night that claimed their lives.

Barbara Boggan, her 9-year-old son Jackson and 12-year-old daughter Adrianna were killed in the head-on collision."

Vanessa Ortega, a friend of Adrianna's, was also in the car and survived the accident but is in the hospital.  The driver of the other car (which was stolen) was said to be under the influence and died at the scene.  His passenger survived and is in the hospital in stable condition.

This hit especially close to home because the Boggan family lives on our street.  It's been heartbreaking to drive by their home and see the sign that says "We'll miss y'all" and the flowers that adorn their yard.

Please pray for:
  • John Boggan (husband and father).  He was working in Africa at the time of the accident.
  • The Boggan's extended family
  • Vanessa and her family
  • The friends and classmates of Adrianna (6th grade) and Jackson (4th grade), who after learning of their deaths will have to take our state mandated tests this week.
  • Our community to rally behind this family
  • God's glory to prevail during this time of dispair

A First

On Friday afternoon I got a call from the day care that Campbell had woken up from his nap with matted, red eyes.  Don't these things always happen on Friday afternoons?  Since I was still at work, I sent Judd to go pick him up and make sure we didn't need to take him to the doctor.  Unfortunately, Campbell had green stuff coming out of his eye so we called our awesome pediatrician at 4:00 and had an appointment for 4:30.  As Dr. K was checking him out she said that pink eye sometimes accompanies ear infections.  We thought we wouldn't have to worry about that because he hadn't been running fever or acting like his ear was bothering him. Wrong! Diagnosis: ear infection.  A pretty bad one.  We left the office with some eye drops and a prescription for an antibiotic.  We are grateful that the little guy made it this long without getting an ear infection.  Bailey had quite a few ear infections before she was a year old and always had a very high fever to go along with it.   She always looked and felt pitiful until the antibiotics really kicked in.  Thankfully, Campbell had a better experience with his first ear infection.  And hopefully there won't be anymore!  Here's to hoping...

It's Raining! It's Pouring!

Nonnie and Bubba came to visit this weekend and it rained off and on on Friday and ALL day Saturday.  According to one source, we got seven and a half inches of rain!  All the rain kept us inside which meant we had to get really creative to entertain Bailey.

Ma sent Bailey this "Foam Play" stuff.  Perfect timing!

Campbell got a huge Thomas book so Bailey and Nonnie had to check it out.

Eleven Months

Campbell,
I seriously cannot believe my baby boy is 11 months old.  I am amazed at how fast time has flown by.  It's hard to even remember the life of our family without you.  You are such a joy to all of us.  Here's what you've been up to this month:
  • You got your two top teeth (3-21-09)
  • You took five steps toward Daddy! (3-28-09)
  • You are eating table food exclusively - no more baby food!
  • You LOVE taking baths.  You stand up next to the bathtub and JUMP up and down while we run the bath water.
  • You "graduated" from your baby bathtub and take baths in the big bathtub.
  • You DO NOT like to have your diaper changed.  You wiggle, squirm, and turn over so much it's hard to get that diaper on!
  • You are wearing clothes that are size 12 and 18 months.
  • You still have 4 (6oz) bottles a day and eat table food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • You suffered your first high fever and first round of antibiotics.
  • You went on your first family vacation!

Happy Easter!

"There is nothing to fear here.  I know you're looking for Jesus, the One they nailed to the cross.  He is not here.  He was raised, just as he said."   Matthew 28:6 (The Message)

An Egg-celent Weekend!

Maw-Maw, Pop, Uncle Kenny, and Aunt Meike came to visit for the weekend.  We had a great time hanging out with them and carrying on some Easter traditions. On Friday, we dyed Easter eggs.  This was Bailey's second year to dye eggs.  Last year, she was eager to take the eggs out of the dye as soon as she put them in so we had a lot of pale eggs.  This year she was more willing to let them sit for a while.  We found out last year that Judd is the Egg-Nazi.  He was very particular about how he thought Bailey should dye her eggs, so this year we got him his own eggs and dye!

On Saturday morning, we went to Brenham to take pictures in the bluebonnets.  You can see those pics here.  That evening, we went to the state park where Maw-Maw and Pop were camping in their fifth-wheel travel trailer.  Judd says that's not true camping!  We roasted hot dogs and smores on the campfire and the kids played with Easter eggs.

The Story of the Suit

Did you notice Campbell's outfit in the bluebonnets?  That was actually one of Judd's outfits when he was a little boy.  His mom kept it all these years and sent it to us not to long ago.  We were amazed that it fit Campbell perfectly!

Bluebonnet Pictures: Take Two

As planned, we went back to Brenham to try the Bluebonnet pictures again.  This time, I remembered to take Campbell's jacket and he is sporting his new spikey hair-do!  It was worth the return trip because we actually got some smiles out of the little man this time!

Bluebonnet Pictures: Take One

We went to Brenham on Saturday where the bluebonnets are in full bloom!  I was hoping to get some great pictures of the kids, but the timing just wasn't right.  Someone (Campbell) did not cooperate at all.  We have plans to make a return trip to Brenham this week to try it again. Here are the very few that made the cut:
