(Not) Western Day

Bailey and I picked out her outfit for Western Day last night. She even tried everything on so I could take pictures! She was also supposed to take something "western" for show & tell so she took a John Deere gator toy that was my Paw-Paw's. This morning she was so excited for Western Day! Judd picked the kids up from school today and when I got home, he and Bailey informed me that Western Day is NEXT Tuesday! I guess I should pay more attention to the notes she brings home. We'll just call today our dress rehearsal. I'm so embarrassed!

Dear John

Today I did something I've never done before. I went to a movie by myself. I never thought that was something that I could or would ever do. I had the day off thanks to President's Day, but still took the kids to school. I needed to grade some papers, work on my Bible study (I'm doing Esther and loving it), and read my book for book club so I planned to camp out at Starbucks for the majority of the day. Just before leaving, I remembered that all of AMC's movies before noon are only $5. I have wanted to see Dear John, but we just don't go to the movies very often. After you pay a million dollars to see the movie and then pay a babysitter too, it makes for a very expensive night out. Red Box has been a great solution for our budget! Anyway, I decided that if I ever wanted to see the movie, I may as well go even if it meant going by myself. I have to admit it wasn't that bad - probably because it was 10:20 AM and not many people were there! No one sat on the same row as me though. They probably thought I was some kind of crazy lady sitting by myself! I enjoyed myself and I would do it again. You should try it sometime.

Teeth!

Campbell LOVES to brush his teeth. He would probably brush his teeth five times a day if we let him! He has an Elmo toothbrush and Thomas toothpaste which is probably one reason he is fascinated by the whole thing. Any time Campbell disappears we know just where to find him - in the bathroom! We have a stool in the bathroom that the kids use to reach the sink. We have found Campbell standing on that stool "brushing" his teeth many times. Imagine my surprise when I walked into the bathroom and saw this:

And yes, I ran to get my camera to take pictures. Such a bad mom!

A few things I don't want to forget

1. We (Judd and I) had Chinese take out the other night. We knew the kids wouldn't eat it so we fixed them something else. Bailey appeared interested in my food so I asked her if she wanted some. She said no. I told her it was Chinese food. She said, "I don't like Chinese food. I only like Chinese words." So I asked her what Chinese words she knows. She said, "Ni-hao means hello." Then she said some other jibber jabber word and said that means goodbye.

2. Campbell bit me on the chest the other day while I was getting him dressed. I immediately told him "NO!" and told him that that hurt Momma. Later I took him into our bedroom to Judd and said, "Tell Daddy what you did to Momma." I didn't really think he would be able to communicate what he did, but he said, "Bite." Then put his head on my shoulder. He was really sorry!

3. I don't think I've ever mentioned this, but Bailey and her Daddy have had an after-bath routine since she was probably two or a little after. She always says, "Hold me like a baby and throw me on the bed!" Judd wraps her up in her towel, holds her like a baby, then carries her to her room and throws her on her bed. She loves this!

4. Bailey and Campbell are getting along so well right now. Bailey is so good with her little brother. She shares her toys and comforts him when he's sad. Today, Campbell was sitting in my lap eating a cookie. I asked him if I could have a bite and he held his cookie up to my mouth so I took a bite. He was obviously kidding, because he was NOT happy with me. As he cried, he said, "Bailey's lap." So he moved over to Bailey's lap and she comforted him until he stopped crying. They are so sweet!

Bailey's Haircut

A couple of weeks ago, Bailey gave herself a little haircut. She claims that a clippie got stuck in her hair so she cut it out along with a big chunk of her hair. I discovered her new "do" while putting her bike helmet on her head. When I asked her about it, she cried and told me not to tell Daddy. I told her that she didn't have to worry about me telling him. He would be able to tell by looking at her! We both gave her a good talking to about cutting her own hair. By the end of that conversation, she was so upset that I don't think she'll do it again. (Although I'm not holding my breath!)

The damage done couldn't even be fixed with a proper haircut. It was on the side so it's not like we could just give her bangs or something. We thought we would have to be really creative when fixing her hair by using clippies, bobby pins, etc. to hold back the shorter pieces. Turns out, because her hair is curly, it has blended in pretty well. (Although not so much in these pictures!)

The Silver Sharpie

On Sunday afternoon, Campbell was sitting at the kitchen table eating a snack. Or so I thought. Bailey had gotten a hold of a silver Sharpie marker and left it on the table. The next thing I knew Campbell had used the SILVER Sharpie on my BLACK table. He also colored an orange Fiesta plate. Because I have experienced mishaps with permanent markers before, I knew just what to do. I grabbed the Germ-X (hand sanitizer) and a wipee and started scrubbing. Thankfully, it all came off! I wish I would have taken a picture, but I was more concerned about my table! I thought that was all of the damage that was done, but when I changed Campbell's diaper I discovered silver marker ALL OVER his tummy! And that did not come off with Germ-X and a wipee!
