Weight Watchers

I first heard the term "Weight Watchers" years ago, but had no clue what it was or how it worked. When we lived in San Antonio, I had friends who were "life members" (had no idea what that meant.) I just knew that they "counted" all of their food in points. Honestly, I thought it was obnoxious.

Fast forward a few years. When Campbell was about six months old, my teammates at school all did Weight Watchers together. We did it "unofficially" by sharing resources, not attending meetings, or paying for anything. For the first time, I had found something that worked for me! I learned to make healthier choices, but could still eat whatever I wanted as long as I had the points! I ended up losing all of the baby weight plus some.

Fast forward a couple of years. I gained some of that weight back. I became discouraged over the holidays when I had to pull out my "fat jeans." You know what I'm talking about! In January, the same friends I had done WW with before were doing it again - this time online. They all spoke so highly of it so I decided to try it. I LOVE it! I get 29 points per day and 49 "bonus" points per week. I am able to look up foods and track all of my points (daily and weekly) online. I began seeing success in the first week! In five weeks, I have lost a total of 12.5 pounds!

Judd watched as I measured and counted everything I put in my mouth. He also saw that it worked. So, he decided to try it for himself. We signed him up for a free trial to find out how many points he gets in a day (41), then promptly canceled. He hasn't even completed his first week, but he's already lost 6 pounds! How do men always lose weight so fast? No fair!

I'm so thankful to be able to walk through this journey with Judd and my wonderful friends!

short Bailey story

Because of our "snow" day a couple of weeks ago, I had to work on Saturday. Big bummer! On Friday night I said, "I really don't want to go to work tomorrow." My five year old daughter replied, "Don't go. Pretend you're sick."

Oh my goodness! We are in for it!

quick Campbell story

On Friday, both Judd and I picked Campbell up from school. We rarely do that so I was hoping our little man would be excited to see both of us. Well, he was excited to see his Daddy! He wanted Daddy to "hold you." He wanted me to carry his papers, pillow, and blanket. I asked him if I could hold him and he said, "No. Your hands are full." I wonder why, son!

Proud to be a Baylor Bear!

I'm linking up to Kelly's Korner "Show Us Your Life: Alma Maters" today. Enjoy!

If you know anything about us at all, you know that both Judd and I went to Baylor. We bleed green and gold. We love our alma mater!
Image
Fun Facts about Baylor University:
  • oldest and largest Baptist university in the world
  • chartered by the Republic of Texas in 1845 making it the oldest college in Texas!
  • oldest and largest collegiate homecoming in the U.S.
  • Baylor counts more Texas governors among its alumni than any other university!
  • Famous alumni include: Jeff Dunham (comedian), David Crowder Band, Angela Kinsey (from the Office), Willie Nelson, Michael Johnson (Olympic Gold Medalist), Mike Singletary (NFL), Trey Wingo (ESPN)

Personal Favorites:

  • Building: Pat Neff Hall - This is where Judd proposed on November 21, 2001

  • Image
  • Homecoming: We have never missed a single homecoming since each of us were freshmen. You can see our Homecoming posts here: 2008, 2009, 2010

  • Image
  • Diadeloso: Translated as "Day of the Bear" - it's a day off of class!

  • Image
  • The fact that we have real, live bears on campus!

  • Image
  • Such a BEAUTIFUL campus!

Our Family Members that have attend Baylor:

  • my brother Kenny
  • Judd's sister Calie
  • Judd's cousin Heather and her husband Neil
  • Judd's cousin Derek and his wife Lauren
  • Judd's aunt Linda
  • Judd's aunt Judy
  • Judd's grandmother

I dream of the day that my own children will fill out their Baylor applications and get to the part that asks if any family members have attended. We may have to attach another sheet of paper! (And if they actually go there, we'll both have to sell our right arms to be able to pay for it!)

All You Need is Love

This Valentine's Day did not go as I would have expected. It started early this morning when I realized that I never got the kids' teachers a gift. I was that mom in Wal-Mart at 7:00 this morning getting last minute gifts. It's the thought that counts, right? I rushed home to put the gifts together before we all headed out the door. Both kids were excited to give their friends and teachers their Valentine cards and gifts.

Judd called me at school as soon as I got there. Turns out, Bailey threw up on the way to school. In the car. Bless her heart. (And Judd's for cleaning it up.) Judd took Campbell to school and took Bailey home where she spent the rest of the day with a nasty stomach bug. We hated that she missed her class Valentine party. A friend of ours came by this afternoon on her way to the school to pick up the sandwiches that I made for the party, Bailey's Valentine cards for her friends, and her teacher's gift. Bailey said that staying home was better than going to school, but being sick was not better than missing her party! Poor thing!

This evening, three of us ate chicken spaghetti and some heavely bread for dinner while our sick one had Saltines and Gatorade. No, our Valentine's Day was not extravagant or romantic, and while I wish my sweet girl wasn't sick, I wouldn't trade it for anything. My heart is so full.

This was Bailey on Sunday as she addressed her V-day cards

all about the girl

Bailey: I love my old people.
Mom: Your old people?
B: Yeah, Memmommie, Grandaddy, and Ma. I love them.

"I wish the week went Sunday, Saturday so we could skip all the school days."

Believe it or not, Houston had snow in the forecast last week. The whole city was in a tizzy about the possibility of the white stuff. When it was all said and done, there was a lot of ice and no snow. Bailey was so disappointed! She said, "The weathermen should not be on the news. They don't know stuff." I totally agree!

Bailey got to stay with the high school girls at Mrs. Darla's house on Saturday night during Disciple Now weekend. I don't know who was more excited - Bailey or the girls! Mrs. Darla told Bailey that she was invited back anytime. The very next weekend Bailey asked if she could spend the night at Mrs. Darla's. We said no, not this weekend. Bailey said, "But she said I was invited anytime." We didn't quite know what to say to that!

Bailey was walking through the house tonight with one of her stuffed animals saying she was going to take it to college with her. Love it!

Speaking of college, a while back we told Bailey that after she graduated from high school she would go to college. She cried because she said she doesn't want to leave us. I told her not to worry...when she's 18, she'll be ready! Fast forward a few months...Bailey asked me if I could drive her to college. I told her that she would probably drive herself. She said, "But I don't know how to drive!" By the way, when she talks about going to college, she says she's going to Baylor. Oh goodness, we better start saving our pennies. And nickels. And dimes. And every dollar we ever get our hands on!!!

all about the boy

  • I've mentioned before that Campbell doesn't always enjoy Momma picking him up from school. I have to prepare him for it in advance or he'll be upset that Daddy isn't picking him up. I picked him up one day this week and he was totally fine with it. As I put him to bed that night I told him I would pick him up again tomorrow. He said, "No. You already do. Daddy pick me up." I guess I can only pick him up once!
  • Campbell was playing with Bailey's Barbie and Ken (from Toy Story 3). He was pushing them around in the Barbie car. First, he said they were going on a date to Chili's. Then he said they were going to see Mary. I think he meant they're getting married!
  • This weekend Campbell colored a picture and said he was going to give it to his teacher. "Oh, you're going to give it to Ms. Aracely?" (That's his teacher at school.) "No. I give it to Mimi." Mimi is Ms. Judy who has worked in the nursery at our church since he was three months old. She also was also Cam's teacher at school when he was a baby (3-12 months.)
  • Mimi has called our little man "Campbell-Wampbell" and "Campby-Wampby" from the time he was teeny tiny. The other day I asked Campbell who calls him "Campbell-Wampbell" and he said, "Mimi do!" No one else calls him that! He knows his Mimi!
  • Cam got a nasty cough this weekend. Thanks, sister! He was milking it. He told us that he was sick, wanted us to check his "tentature," and needed to go see Dr. K. He indeed got to visit the doctor who told him he had bronchitis (sister had it last week.) That evening he told me that he was still sick and needed me to take him to the doctor again!
  • When Campbell wants our attention, he turns our faces toward him and holds our cheek so he can talk to us.
  • We had the Youth Super Bowl party at our house. They stayed until the game was over. Campbell was getting really tired so he laid on the floor and said, "My friends go home. I tired."

Super Bowl

What do you do when you're five and two years old and your house is full of teenagers watching the Super Bowl? Play dress up, of course!

Campbell and Bailey with our friends Selah and Orbin

Campbell got this Buzz costume for Christmas. He has been hesitant about putting it on until all these girls started playing dress up and he wanted to play along.
