January Recap

On one hand it feels like January was low-key, and on the other it feels like it was fast and furious.  Since I didn't do any posting at the time, here's a recap:

• Back to school and back to work for everyone!
• Judd's beloved grandmother, Ma, passed away after a short bout with cancer.  We traveled to Kaufman for the sweetest funeral where Judd read Psalm 23 and the great-grandkids sang "Jesus Loves Me" and "I'm Gonna Sing, Sing, Sing!"  
• Our church hosted Revolution Weekend (think Disciple Now) for about 75 students, 15 leaders, and many other volunteers.  It was a great weekend where 5 students came to know Christ and many others renewed their commitments to the Lord.  

• Judd got new glasses!  He's had the same ones since we lived in San Antonio.  Needless to say, his vision isn't the same as it was then.  The kids decided they needed glasses too.  Campbell threw an all out fit in Lens Crafters because he wanted glasses.  We ended up going to Claire's and got some fake ones!

• Toward the end of January, we celebrated Nick!  It's been six months since his stroke.  He's been in extensive speech therapy since then and has made such great progress that he graduated from the program. Jaime planned a surprise party for him to celebrate with their family and friends!

• We signed Campbell up for t-ball.  I don't know who's more excited...him or me!  He's a bit apprehensive because the jerseys have buttons.  (Yes, we're still battling that!)   He is excited about getting a new bat and batting helmet though!
• Bailey didn't want to play softball or basketball, but we wanted her to do something.  She had such a great time doing the children's Christmas musical at church that she asked to do acting or singing lessons.  We found a place in Katy that does children's productions so we signed her up! She has class/practice for an hour and a half each week, then they will perform a mini-production in April.  She is LOVING it!  
• We also refinanced our house and bought a (new-to-us) car!  I guess it has been a busy month!

Celebrating Ten Years

Ten years ago, we went to New York City for our honeymoon, ate at a few NY delis, and saw Les Miserables on Broadway.  

This year, we went to a New York style deli in Houston and saw Les Mis on the big screen. We had a great time celebrating our tenth anniversary NYC style!

Bailey's Bedroom Makeover

Bailey had been telling us for a while that she wanted to redo her room.  We put it off as long as possible!  She got a can of paint and new bedding for Christmas, so as soon as we returned home from our holiday visits we got to work!  The first thing on our list was to declutter and purge.  We filled up two huge trashbags to donate and another of trash.  Then Judd painted the walls and everything else came together quickly.  The pictures don't do it justice.  The color is beautiful!  Think Tiffany blue!  

The bed is the same one we got her when she turned two.  I bought the big "B" in Canton this fall and Judd painted it black.  

The nightstand is one that we used in our guest room before we had two kids.  We rescued it from the attic and gave it a fresh coat of paint.  The lamp is from Target and matches her bedding (also from Target) perfectly!

We got the desk and chair for $60 at a local thrift shop.  Score!  Judd gave it a fresh coat of paint too.  The frame of the bulletin board was from an old picture we got from Judd's grandparents.  He painted it black, removed the picture, and attached the cork board that we covered with fabric.

We organized her closet and got a new shelving unit.
