The Thunder continues to roll. . .

Desert Hills football team is doing great! They are 4-0 in region play which is Jake's best record as a head coach ever. It has been so exciting to watch them. They played Snow Canyon last Friday and after quite a battle, including many mistakes and pretty much a train wreck at the end, they squeaked out a win. My mom and I felt a little bad because it was Snow Canyon's homecoming and they deserved the win. They had such a great crowd that kept on cheering even after they had lost! Jake says that just means I'm not a competitor! So next Thursday DH plays Hurricane. They are ranked #1, so when we beat them, we will be region champs! Did you catch the "when" in there! Jake would be proud of that. He feels pretty confident that his players have what it takes to beat them. Cross your fingers! Below are some pictures that I snagged from Carl Franke's facebook page. I'm not sure who took them, but I thought they were pretty neat.
Image Jake contemplating the game. They were down at half time and he was getting ready to walk in the locker room. I think he looks cold and was thinking about running home real quick to get his coat! This was the first game we actually had to wear sweatshirts and wrap in blankets. That is football weather! Jake has the boys talk during half time and fire each other up. He said 10 boys talked this time. They must have said something right!

ImageCoach Franke with his hands on his knees, Jake, and Coach Roberts with the headset on. It takes any army to win a game!

Image The refs giving Jake their full attention! He says they respect him enough to actually listen. That's a good thing! Except they didn't change their mind on the call!

ImagePorter Harris throwing an amazing pass I am sure! He is the quarterback.

ImageMike Needham caught this amazing pass for a touchdown that was called back because of holding. When I asked Jake who was the player that caught this he said, "Are you kidding? Only the most amazing football player in the state of Utah, Mike Needham!" Think he likes this kid a little!

Just for you Jennifer!

This post is dedicated to my sister Jennifer so she doesn't have to be bored at work on Monday. She will now have the pleasure of turning on her computer and discovering I have updated my blog! How excited she will be that she doesn't have to read once again about the gold medal soccer team. Although I still find that very exciting news myself! She may be more excited to read about Paige winning her soccer game on Saturday 2-0. She scored the most amazing goal to the delight of her Grandpa Al who was down here visiting over the weekend! She may also be interested to know that Jake won his homecoming football game against Canyon View 40 something to 2. We are sure the win was made possible by Al standing on the sidelines this game instead of sitting in the stands where he has been bad luck for the past few years! He can also accredit his win to the full support of the Wray families full attendance! But the most exciting news for Jennifer will be the current relationship status of one Miss Taylor Nelson. Yes, folks, she is single! Although Jennifer may be slightly disappointed that there are no photos, she will still be highly entertained. And just in case she may still have some time to spare at work, she can look to her left of my blog where I have added a new blog to follow. My new found favorite author is Rosanne Bittner and to my delight, I discovered she has a blog. Feel free to read up and order you a fascinating American History novel! I hope I have provided you with some delightful Monday morning reading!

Gold Medal Soccer Team

Extreme ended up winning the gold medal at the Utah Summer Games on Saturday morning at 8:00am. It was an intense game. They ended up going into overtime, giving each team 5 minutes to score. They both ended up scoring which sent the game into a "shoot out". Each team was allowed 5 kicks to try and score. Paige went first and scored! Talk about nerve racking! Jake and I were on the edge of our seats! The other team went and didn't score so Shali from our team shot next and scored. The other team never ended up scoring at all thanks to our amazing goalie Julia! It was so exciting to watch them celebrate their hard fought win. Of course I was getting choked up so I kept my sunglasses on to hide my emotion. There is nothing better than watching your child succeed!Image

Utah Summer Games

Extreme has won their first two games at the Utah Summer Games so far. They picked up a few girls from the Dominators and they are all playing together great! The first game they all spray painted their hair green and white to make them more intimidating! Paige said the ref said they would win because of their wild hair. Guess he was right! So two more games to go until the championship!Image

We spent the best day hiking at Red Cliffs today! The water was perfect, not too many people, and I was with my girls. Everyone was brave and slid down the rock slide. After Brittney went she yelled, "That was wild!" It was pretty funny but probably more funny if you had been there!Image

Summer so far. . .

The Congdon kids and Bailee are down for a couple of days. It has been non stop fun! They all stayed at my house last night so we got up this morning and walked down to feed the horses apples.Image

Taylor and friends have been 4 wheeling for the past couple of days. Makes me a little nervous when they come back to the house with stories of flying off the seat, popping wheelies and clearing two jumps! But no injuries yet!

End of the Year Stuff

Image

I did the musical Tikki Tikki Tembo with my 2nd graders again. This group was amazing! Some of them are going to end up on Broadway when they are older, I am sure of it. They begged me to do it over and over. Four times is usually enough but not for these kids. I was very proud of them, and not to mention my piano playing. . . smashing!Image

Paige turned 10, double digits! She had a party at Jumping Jacks this year. Two girls cried, so it was a success! We always say it isn't a party until someone cries!

Taylor made it through another season cheering with Raglan Coast Cheer. She managed to keep her injuries to a minimum for once, which was nice for a change! Just a very sore and tired body by the end. Her team took 2nd at nationals in Salt Lake so that was very exciting for them! She has one more year with Raglan until high school cheer.Image

We went camping in Zions with Bill and Christie Lincoln and had a great time. Their trailer not ours. . .maybe one of these days.Image

Grandma Suze and Papa Ben came for a visit.Image

Paige finished another soccer season on the Extreme team, and had to say goodbye to her coach Clint. He moved his family to Hawaii to start a new job. Great for him, but so sad for Paige! It was a tough weekend for her. She will really miss him!

Extreme Soccer

Extreme played the "Baby Bombers" Saturday morning. They are the youngest team from the Bomber's club thus the name. It was a beautiful morning for soccer and the girls did great! Final score was 8-1 with many of the girls scoring. Paige had a awesome goal that she dribbled all the way down the field then scored. It was very exciting! The girls are getting better and better at passing and staying in their assigned spots. GO EXTREME!

Just for the record. I took Friday off from P90X due to my major sore muscles. Resumed workout Saturday afternoon. Planning on Yoga tomorrow morning. It is an hour and a half workout so will probably split into two workouts. Yes, PX90 is intense. The instructor calls each workout the "Mother of all Workouts"! I like how each exercise is done in tiny 30 second or 1 minute increments. Makes it more doable!

P90X

So I'm on my 2nd morning of doing P90X and needing some severe motivation. I am so sore I can't believe it! I figured if I post about it I will feel obligated to continue working out so I won't let my faithful followers down that are reading this! I realize I am an inspiration to many so I will be sure to continue my workouts! :)

Mmmm. . .good!

I've been trying a new recipe each month since September. I am following a cookbook that Jake brought home from his school that the culinary class uses. I figured if high school students could make the meals, surely I could. Well tonight was fettuccine Alfredo with a spinach salad topped with strawberries, candied nuts and homemade poppy seed dressing. Delicious! I don't have any great pictures to prove the quality of my fabulous meal tonight because frankly it didn't look very appetizing! Hopefully food presentation is the next book. But I could've taken a picture of the big smiles on everyone in my family because they actually liked it. Yes, they get a little nervous when it is try a new recipe night! Hopefully with practice I will continue to get better and maybe be able to call myself a cook one day!
