Minnie Mouse

Image
Minnie Mouse all ready to go trick or treating!

Halloween was a hit this year.  Makaylee loved it, except for the scary costumes.  We went to our ward's trunk or treat and then went trick or treating to Grandma and Grandpa's house.  We stopped to pick up a Happy Meal before going to my parent's and Makaylee said, "This is so much fun!"  She had the biggest grin on her face.  The next day she told me she wanted to go to a Halloween party :)

We also had a lot of fun preparing for Halloween.  We carved pumpkins at Grandma's and had Jack-o-Lantern pizza.

Happy Halloween!

We absolutely loved Barnyard Boo last year at Thanksgiving Point, so we had to go back this year.  You get to enjoy all the animals, the pony ride, and wagon ride; plus, they have cute Halloween games to play set up all over Farm Country.

September

Our highlights from September include the Meadow 5K and celebrating Heather's 30th birthday bowling at Jack and Jill's.

Chick-Fil-A was a proud sponsor of the event.

We had a lot of fun bowling and playing arcade games for Heather's 30th birthday.  This was Makaylee's first bowling experience, and, of course, she loved it!

End of Summer

We absolutely loved summer and were sad to see it come to an end, but we squeezed in as much fun as we could.  At the beginning of August we went to the carnival in Highland!  This is the first time Highland has had a carnival (that I am aware of), so we had to be a part of it.  There weren't too many people there, so we got on the rides real quickly.  The best part of the night was Makaylee finding the "Lucky Duck"!  All she had to do was pick up a duck and she got a prize.  There was one "lucky duck" and if you picked him, you could pick any prize.  She found him alright and chose a little Nemo fish!  Gotta love it.

The weekend before school started John's family had a reunion at the Heber Valley Camp.  Makaylee had the time of her life.  She absolutely loved playing with her cousin, Zoe.  She also loved that we got to sleep in the cabin with bunk beds! She tells me all the time that she wants to go to the cabin with Zoe.

Oh, What Do You Do In The Summer Time??

Image
Enjoying an ice cream cone after swimming.
The cone is her favorite part :)

We are having a fabulous summer.  It's actually going by way too fast.  Here are some of the highlights thus far:

1. Swimming. Lots and lots of swimming.  Makaylee and I took swim lessons this summer with some friends.  Makaylee loves being in the water, and you know she is there.  She kicks and splashes like crazy. Now that she's been in swim lessons, she also enjoys blowing bubbles in the water.

She's one cool chic!

On the last day of swim lesson, we got to go down the slide.
Makaylee went down with our teacher, Amy.
I took Ella down since her mommy was pregnant!
Even though they had been looking forward to it,
they preferred playing in the shallow pool

2. Carnivals.  We love going to the carnival.  John loves to play the games, Makaylee likes the rides, and I enjoy the treats and taking pictures.  (I use to love the rides. Now the merry-go-round is enough for me.)  We had Heather, Justin, and Carson join us for the Steel Days carnival.  Makaylee's grandma got her lots of tickets, so Carson came to ride the rides with her.  They LOVED it.  John and Justin had a great time playing games, and Heather and I enjoyed talking with each other & eating cotton candy, which Makaylee does not like.  Awesome night.  In fact, the kiddos were sad to leave.  I was too.

3.  Outdoor Concerts.  My mom got free tickets for the Lonestar Concert @ UVU.  My sister and I went and sat outside in the heat for 3 hours and, sadly, Lonestar never came.  We still had a good time hanging out together and drinking our $3 drinks.  Boy was it hot!

4. The Great Outdoors.  Over the 4th of July weekend, we spent some time up the canyon.  We took Makaylee to Cascade Springs.  It was perfect, because she could walk all by herself and I didn't have to worry to much.  It was also an easy hike for all.  Makaylee enjoyed the waterfalls most.  We also drove the Alpine Loop.  On our drive, we saw a moose.  It was awesome.  This was a first for me!  Of course, I didn't have my camera that day :(

5. Riding a Pony.  Makaylee always asks to ride a horse.  We don't have a horse, so on the 4th of July we did the best that we could and took her to Farm Country to ride a pony.  She rode Nutmeg.  Of course, she enjoyed it and wanted to ride over and over again.  Unfortunately, we only bought one ticket for her to ride the pony.

The animals really liked Makaylee.
They all came up nice and close to say hi!
Or maybe they were hoping we would feed them

6. Parties.  My friend, Natalie, threw the most amazing first birthday party for her daughter.  We were honored to be invited.  It was amazing.  Elmo came and everything.  Makaylee's favorite was the bounce house.

7. Family Reunions.  In June, we had a family reunion in Tropic, and we have another family reunion coming up in August.  It's always fun to see family!

With a month left of summer, there's still plenty of fun to be had.

PS Sorry the format is so crazy. I've tried to fix but it's not working.  Drives me crazy. Oh well!
