Kids say the Darndest things

Kate: "Jonas, get your tongue offa me!"

I have told Jonas that the reason he needs a nap is because when he doesn't get one he turns into a monster. The other day when I told him it was time to go lay down he said, "No, I wanna be a monster." Like it was a choice. He could choose one or the other, take a nap or be a monster. Um, monster of course, it's way more fun!

Hukd on Fonix Wurked fur Me

Kate is really into writing and art lately. John and I love how she spells everything.

ImageThe missing cat poster she made when Kitty was gone. Now that Kitty is home we can appreciate its cuteness.

ImageWhen I came home from work yesterday, Kate had put her menu choices for the next day on my recipe holder.

Sleep Peeing

Well, Jonas is almost night potty trained. Last night, while John was still up, Jonas woke up and went to the bathroom. John was impressed that he got up all on his own, but then he heard the hollow sound of pee not hitting the water in the toilet and then the slam of the under-sink cabinet door. After Jonas shuffled back to bed, John got up and looked in the bathroom. Yup, the kid had peed under the sink.

All this begs the question, where else has this kid been peeing in the middle of the night?

Payson, AZ

We took a little day trip to Payson to go fishing.

Jonas did not catch this fish. He pestered the guy fishing next to us, so the guy let him hold the fish he caught

We didn't catch any fish, but we did catch a bunch of rather large crawdads, crayfish, mudbugs, or whatever you want to call them. So much more fun than fishing for fish.

Image
Jonas loved it! He insisted on being the one to pick them up off the ground after we pulled them out of the water and then put them in the cooler. He's crazy, brave, or just doesn't get that those little pincher hurt like hell.

We brought them home and made a yummy Southern Dinner. Boiled Crayfish, Savannah Red Rice and Fried Okra.

ImageThe little buggers were surprisingly tasty and the kids loved the whole process, tormenting them in the sink while they awaited their demise, helping dad toss them in the pot, and playing with the claws after they ate the tails. Morbid, but fun.

Happy 1st Ben!

Ben's birthday was last week. I still think of him as a bitty baby.

I Belong to the Church of Jesus Christ

Kate sang one of her favorite primary songs for us tonight. Here are a couple of our favorite lines:

"I'll follow Him in vain." and "His truth I will propane!"

(It should be "I'll follow him in FAITH." and "His truth I will PROCLAIM!")
