Breakfast Doodles - 80s Cartoon Classics

Hi folks,

here are some nostalgic reminiscences of the types of shows that were being made when I first got into the industry.

 

 And who could forget all the heroic shows that brought animation to the heights of realism?

If you are yearning for your 80s nostalgia, I hope you will consider acquiring one of these doodles and tuck it under your pillow each night.

Breakfast Doodles TV sketching

Here's how I usually start my morning.
I have the news on and I sketch the heads I see.

I really like this guy's head but he's hard to capture because his features are so lopsided. Every part of his face goes in a different direction than the others.
It's like an optical illusion or brain twister.

 When I am drawing a person for the first time, the sketches are conservative because I am analyzing them and trying to figure out how they're all put together.

As I draw more of the same person they usually get more exaggerated each time.

Mr. Williams is so distorted in real life that it's hard to exaggerate him any further than his maker already did.

He's like a Picasso painting. 

Here are some more dandies I saw on TV.

Ever notice that many of the women newscasters and reporters tend to be good-looking, while the men's heads come in all sorts of degrees of weirdness?

 

Is that some sort of sexist network policy?

Of course I also doodle old friends as well.

Unproduced Ren and Stimpy Goodbye Bumper Pt 4 - end

Ren and Stimpy stare at 2 kids at home watching the show. It's Blibby and Blabby.
Stimpy points to them to prove to Ren that those are really their names.

Blibby and Blabby reach out to Stimpy's to touch the famous finger.
Ren is flabbergasted that such names exist.

He gives in and tells Stimpy to go ahead and say hi to some more crazy named kids.

Stimpy greets Yorbert and Plampadoodle, 2 of their biggest fans.

Ren tries coming up with weird names but can only think of names of famous ancient Greeks.

Stimpy approves! Ren's head drops to the floor with a clunk. He is defeated.
