We got lots of snow again at the beginning of the week/year and we decided we had been keeping ourselves cooped up inside for too long and needed fresh air. So we put on all our snow gear (much to Crew's dismay--soooo much screaming) and off we went to enjoy the snow.

Building a snowman
It wasn't as tall as Crew wanted it to be ("Make it bigger!!") because we couldn't get the snow to stick very well, but we in the end he still liked it and had fun singing frosty the snowman and dancing around it. It's kind of a longish video, but he really starts singing and humming about 3/4 of the way through.
We built a decent snowman, but Crew decided to knock it down over and over again until it was pretty much dying. Then he decided he wanted it to come back to life so Jon and I made do with what was left of the snowman and one thing turned into another and he ended up being a snowman pirate. Jon and I were laughing and pretty proud of ourselves. Crew didn't understand what was so funny about it. He thought it looked just fine. Ah, the sweet, non-judgmental innocence of a child.
Note the snow eye patch, the hook arm, and even a pine cone peg leg
Later that afternoon I decided I wanted Crew to try sledding. We borrowed one of my parent's sleds and headed to a nearby hill to give it a try. I didn't record the first time they went down but it was obvious from the start that Crew was not okay with this activity. He whined and complained the whole way down with Jon. Then they came back up and I told him he needed to go down one more time.
My favorite part of that second time down, as you can see in the video, is that he came straight back up and told me he didn't want to do it again. Listen carefully, you will hear it at the very end. Ha ha ha! He still didn't like it. Oh well, we'll try again next winter I guess! Maybe with a faster sled and a steeper hill.
Coming back up the hill
This was our announcement we posted on social media this week to announce the pregnancy. Fun fact: Crew HATES wearing that cape (in case you haven't noticed, he's pretty disagreeable about most everything these days. I think we've hit the terrible twos!) and we had to trick him by pinning the cape onto a shirt and then slipping the new shirt on him without him noticing. About 1 minute after this picture was taken, he turned, noticed the cape, and immediately freaked out,
Jon took this picture. I guess Daddy lets him be more of a dare devil, but insisted to me that he was close enough to help him should anything have happened.
I love how Crew is smiling so big in the picture. He loves playing with Daddy!!
I know I only posted pictures while trying to catch up on this blog and the thought of doing all the videos that I have from this past year is so daunting that I can't decide if I should actually try to post them all or just forget it and move on. I will probably just end up posting my most favorite ones, but that will still take a lot of searching and uploading so please be patient with me. In the meantime, here is a video I made of my most favorite videos of Crew from birth to age 2. It's only a few minutes long and it was SO HARD to narrow it down to just the ABSOLUTE favorites of the favorites, but here it is. I wish he would stop growing so fast!!! Enjoy!
BOY! Baby number 2 got his 20 week ultrasound 2 days after Christmas and Crew is going to have a little brother in May! The OB sent us some digital copies of the pictures so now I can share them here with you:
This one is my favorite
I'm so glad we got a good profile picture this time! Crew never let us get one in his Ultrasounds.
We've been getting creative since it's been way too cold to go outside.
This desk may not look like much, but I grew up with it. It was mine all through junior high and high school, it was there whenever I came home on college breaks, and then it was ours after we got married and Jon has been using it to study. We've recently been selling a few things off to make room for the new baby and to help pay for some unexpected bills and this one one of the things to go. I snapped this really quick right before Jon helped the buyer load it up into his car. It was very sad for me, which seems so dumb because it's just a desk, but at least I have this little picture to remember it by.
My Oldest nephew, Kannon, was baptized at the beginning of December. My brother Bridger baptized him.
My Dad confirmed him
This is a terribly unflattering photo of me, and Crew is not happy at all. But here is proof that we were there.
Jon was working on his computer and Crew just climbed right up on his lap for a snuggle.
We went to Temple Square to see the lights a few days before Christmas. I really wanted Crew to see all the pretty lights and colors and nativities and hoped he would feel something magical and happy but he was cranky as could be the whole evening. Oh well, maybe we will have better luck next year?
Just making messes in the playroom
I love when he stops playing toys to pick up a book and read to himself
More ways we've been getting creative with the miserable weather outside. We brought some sand inside from the playground. Now he gets to play with his trucks, and he and I aren't miserable in the cold!
Making cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve! It was a fun new tradition for us, even if Crew didn't really understand completely why we were doing it.
Santa Came!
On Christmas Eve, Crew and his cousin accidentally butted heads and his cousin's tooth hit his eye. It was all bruised up and cut for the next week.
Another sleeping pic. Many times I will take these and text them to Jon and Jon will respond with what Crew was most likely thinking in that moment. I'm pretty sure for this one, Jon said something like "Everyone stop talking so I can get some sleep! You are too noisy!"
Doing the dishes with Daddy
More reading. I love how he loves books!
Last but not least, our new annual laser tag game around New Years. This was on New Years Eve. Such a fun tradition!
