Birthday

Another year older, another year wiser.

I was wondering where this old saying comes from. Was it to make old people feel better about themselves? I seem to be losing more parts of my memory, and not feeling any wiser.

Is 32 too early for dementia to set in?

Mother's Day

"Before you were conceived, I wanted you. Before you were born, I loved you. When you were born, I saw your face and knew I was in love. Before you were an hour old, I knew I would die for you. To this day, I will."

Happy Mother's Day to everyone.

The Mom Song

I heard this on the radio this morning when I was taking Eric to school and found it funny (and true) enough to share with other mom's.

Enjoy!

Getting caught up

I wanted to post at least a few of the pictures we took during the year we lived in Ramona. It took quite a long time to upload over 400 pictures to my shutterfly account, so I had a lot to choose from, but these were some good times. I put more pictures on my facebook page if you want to see the rest of my favorites. :)

Finally some pictures

This lake was one of the two water hazards we could see from the back deck. My niece & nephew were visiting so we went to feed the ducks. About 20 of them came swarming around.

John and the kids were hiking on a trail and this man offered the kids a ride on his horse. It was the only time each of them has ever been on a horse. At first Eric didn't want to get on, but after seeing Katie have no problem he jumped on behind her. This was a great example of the friendly nature of the farm people in Ramona.

Katie still didn't have much hair at the time, but she was learning to love hair accesories.

We spent most meals on the deck during the summer when it wasn't too hot. This was a typical breakfast for the kids.

ImageImage We went to a "real" pumpkin patch on the far side of Ramona and they had this cornfield maze that it took about 10 minutes to walk through. I didn't think it was so big!

Back in CMR

We moved back to CMR (and my Del Norte Ward family) last week and after a really long time I finally got my computer hooked back up! I will have to go through and update the blog some more when I get time, but I'd thought I should let you all know that we are still alive and well and will be catching up with all of you soon.

Follow up diagnosis

I finally got a diagnosis for what happened when I was sick after Christmas. I went to see my dentist and he diagnosed a condition called Necrotizing Ulcerative Gingivitis. Basically the bacteria that are found normally in the mouth go crazy under conditions of extreme stress, poor diet and poor dental hygiene. I brush my teeth twice a day with my Sonicare toothbrush and I have been trying to lose weight, so I'm pretty sure it was mostly brought on by the stress of the holidays. Anyway, it was nice to know that I didn't pick up a really bad bacteria from somewhere and my family wasn't at risk of getting sick. It was only my body doing crazy things to itself and with a little antibiotics it will go away.
