My Son's Got Skills

Micah will be 15 months old tomorrow! He just seems to be growing like a weed and soaking everything in. He's got a few tricks in his bag and somehow I was actually able to get him to do most of them in front of the camera yesterday! Originally, I was doing it for our own documentation, but then thought I'd share it with our friends and family since most of you are not here to see him.

SERIOUSLY???

So, when I got in my car this afternoon, I glanced up at the temperature gauge on my rear view mirror and saw this . . .



Now, I understand that there are other places in the country that were even colder today (like, SD which was -42!!) but I'm a California girl . . born and raised in the DESERT!!! I don't DO negative temps!!!! And that was even BEFORE accounting for the wind chill factor!! YIKES!

They're calling for -12 tonight. Oh goody.

Walk This Way!!!!

Yep!! He finally did it!! Until today, Micah had yet to take more than 2-3 steps at a time, but this morning he just slid off his super-cute-thanks-Grandma-Jeanette-he-absolutely-loves-it kiddie sized overstuffed chair and took off across the living room into the kitchen!! I was absolutely stunned and thankful that Dan had just taken his lunch break and was in the kitchen making a sandwich so he got to see it, too! All I could get out was, (*whispering so as to not startle the boy and cause him to fall!) "Dan! Dan! Look!!!!!" And, because both the still shot and video cameras were both under the Christmas tree (yes, I know it's Jan. 5th and the tree shouldn't even be up in the first place . . . but this weekend got crazy and it didn't get taken down like I'd planned!) . . . I wasn't able to get the actual first shots of him walking. BUT, he did take a few more steps just a few minutes later - and I'm sure this is only the beginning! :)

So, here he is at 13 months taking his first stroll!

So I'm tired of starting my blogs with, "I know it's been a while . . . " I know I'm terrible at blogging and I think part of my problem is that I think I have to be witty or funny in my blogs or you'll all be disappointed. Or, I get behind and don't want to post anything more until I catch up, but never catch up . . . so I never post again! I've considered deleting my blog all together just so I don't feel guilty for not posting (don't worry, I've not convinced myself just yet that that's the best solution). I've also considered going private just so that I don't feel all of the pressure of pleasing my audience . . . that's still mulling around in my head. BUT, until I make a decision and actually act on it, you'll have to just deal with my random, way behind-the-times posts!

ANYWAY . . .

We went to KC for Thanksgiving and my in-laws thought it would be way fun to get their grandsons (3 of them - a set 2 yr old twins, and our 1 yr old cutie) full-on suits that they can wear for Christmas, and then they wanted them to get their pics taken together. So, they took us to Janie & Jacks and we walked out with this . . .

Never mind the shiny eyes - Micah got pink eye (a 2nd time!) ON Thanksgiving day and we had to put an ointment on his eyes 4x/day

We didn't have time while we were in town to get pics taken of all of the boys together :( These are just a few we snapped when we got home and tried the suit on Micah. But isn't that suit just ADORABLE?? I can't WAIT to get professional pics of him in it!

Speaking of . . . we've yet to get Micah's 1 yr pics taken because we don't have a photographer here in town and really want to get someone who will do a GREAT job! :) Anybody out there know and want to recommend a good children's photographer in the Indianapolis area? OR, do any of my incredible photographer friends (*cough, cough) want to travel here and take pics of this precious little boy?!! ;) I mean, really, where else can you find such a picture perfect face to photograph?! :)

Learning to Share . . .

I'm so proud of my little man!!! Just a week away from his 1st birthday (really??) and he's already learned to share!!!

Perhaps I should've been a little more clear on what things are appropriate to share w/ others and what things he should just keep to himself, because this I could've done without . . .



Yep. I thought I was out of the woods, but a week later here I sit w/ my very own case of pink eye!! Ugh. The incredible hubby is on his way to pick up some eye drops for me from the pharmacy - thank you, husband! I'm hoping, because we caught it early, maybe it won't stick around too terribly long. Oh, and I'll be lysoling the entire house today, since we'll have people here on Sunday to celebrate Micah's bday - GREAT timing, eh??

Such is life.
