The loan on the farm did not go through. We found out the Friday before Christmas. (Yes, I'm just getting around to telling you.) We were very upset, obviously. Friday was spent frustrated. Saturday was confused. Sunday was "Well, we gotta move up there some how." So Monday morning I started calling on apartments and houses for rent in a town that's about half way for Jared, cutting the commute in half. Jared said "Call on that 2 story home in the Prague area that I saw the other day." So I looked through all the ads until I found what he was talking about. I called and Jared went up to see it. It's HUGE. 1600 sq ft on the main floor with 1600 up and 1600 in the basement (unfinished.) AND, they're charging $100 LESS than we are currently paying for our 1 bedroom apartment!! Egads! There are 5 bedrooms upstairs with one on the main level, they call that one the office. Everything is hardwood floors except the entry and the stairs (we'll see if we can fix that.) We can paint, too, if we want. And it's only 3 miles from the farm. Which means Jared's commute will be the same: 5 minutes! Oh, that's going to be so nice!
I know, you'd think we'd be more upset about this. Well we were, believe me we were. But I've often looked heavenward and said "God, if you had to give us bad news, you sure sweetened it nicely!" Everyone has the choice to focus on the bad or the good. And we're choosing to hope for the good. Maybe in 6 months or a year, the market will fall even farther and we can pick it up for less... save us 50 grand or more! Who knows?!
So we ARE moving, just not to the farm, just a huge house by the farm. I've got 2 weeks to pack up the house, the big day is Saturday the 24th. Wish me luck, I've never tried to pack with a baby whose gonna want to 'help' me do it!
