Oh Christmas Tree..

Christmas is my favorite time of the year!! I love the holiday smells, music, decorations, joy, giving, & especially the family time. Since Patrick and I have been married, we have taken special trips over Thanksgiving or Christmas to see our families. It always gives me something to push through near the end of my trimester @ school.

The first year we were married we went to TN for Thanksgiving & MS for a few days over Christmas. The second year, we went to MS first for 3 days, then to TN for the remainder of our trip. This year, Patrick decided he wanted to do less driving & more hunting. So, we are going to MS for our whole trip so we can see family & Patrick can spend as much time as he wants in the woods. I think he is looking forward to it! He will be able to hunt alone, with my brothers, and even run dogs with my Papa (my Papa loves the company, & it will be full of laughs).

Mom & Pops are going on a "super month long trip", and they will be starting it in MS to visit us. While they are there we are going to spend a day in the French Quarter in New Orleans. Then, we are going to drive over to my Mom's in Denham Springs and see their new house in the making.

I am so excited to go home and eat really good home cooked food! I look forward to seeing friends & familiar faces.

I have to share my excitement and post a few pics of our tree, stockings, & front door. I'm sure we'll be taking a family pic in front of the tree & I will post that when it happens. Until then.. HAVE A HOLLY JOLLY CHRISTMAS!!

The LiL' Bump.

Finally @ 16 weeks, I'm starting to get a wee bump. When I lay down on a flat surface the lil' bump protrudes and makes itself known that there is something special growing inside! :) I've read that within the next couple of weeks the baby will start to double in size, and that women gain 12-14 lbs. in their 2nd trimester. So far, I have only gained 3 lbs. and my regular clothes still fit. I am getting to the point where my jeans are bothersome when I sit, & it's more comfy to unbotton them in class. My aunt sent me a few maternity shirts and they just look weird and big. But I'm sure I will be able to fill them out in the coming months.

(i just finished dinner :)!!)

We have a doctor appointment on Dec. 19. I wanted to ask him if we could do an ultrasound on the 23rd to find out the sex. Then, I got to thinking about it and wouldn't mind waiting until Jan. 9 when I'm just over 20 weeks because I'm sure we would definately be able to tell. If the baby doesn't show us it's jewels, Patrick would be happy (he's trying to convince me to wait until we give birth to know the gender, but I'm too anxious!).

I've began to check out the little graco pack n'play that I want. I found a few on the website that are perfect for fitting by our bed, have a bassinet on top, a changing table, and little slots under the play to put diapers, clothes, etc. Here is an example:

We don't want to start buying yet because we don't know what kind of things are going to get handed down to us, given @ baby shower's, & I want to know the gender!! But even if it's a boy or girl, we've decided that we don't want a closet full of pink clothes for a girl and blue for a boy. We want a variety of colors, not the typical one color for each gender.

I think we are getting close to settling on names for the baby. That is so exciting to me!!

Anyways, enough babbling for today. I'll post another pic in a few weeks before Christmas. If we happen to find out the sex before Christmas, I may not tell & just let it be a Christmas suprise!! :)

The Prairie Light Adventure

Sarah, Chad, Patrick, & I drove out to Grand Prairie on Monday night to see the Christmas lights. I was so very esctatic because I knew it would put me in the Christmas cheer. Monday night was a chilly night for us. So, bundled up in our warm clothes, we stopped by the 7Eleven & each got a 24 oz. hot chocolate. We turned up the Christmas carols and joined in the excitement!!

It took us a little while to get out there, but once we did it was grand! Each section we would drive through was themed. There was santa & the beach, candyland, enchantment, lullabys, nativity, and so many more. Almost to the very end, every car had to pull into a tented area where you could opt to ride a carousel, see a light show, walk through a light garden, or take a picture with santa. We finished off the lights and @ the end you drove through a twilight of flickering lights! It was tantric in a way.

I really enjoyed seeing the Christmas lights in the company of good friends. I really wish we all had been seeing the lights in Dollywood & Ober Gatlinburg, but hey, maybe next year!
