Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year

Image

We hope that all of you had a great Christmas and that you are looking forward to a wonderful 2009. Have fun & Be Safe.

Love, The Christensens

Days & Days After Christmas

We finally made it back from Price on Monday, the 29th! So we had another unwrapping party, this time at our own house. Kanyon had a great first Christmas and now she has so many toys that move, flash, and make noises that she doesn't know which one to play with first.

ImageIts hard to believe that we just got done celebrating Kanyon's first Christmas. Time flies too fast. Every time I say that I am reminded of how old I am getting. Now I think about 2009 and it blows my mind. Thanks to all our friends and family that helped us through this eventful 2008. We love you all.

Christmas Day

Merry First Christmas Crazy Kanyon!

Image For some reason, people like to play dress up with her. But she's a good sport about it!

Image As you can see, Santa doesn't wrap any gifts at the Christensen house. That is something that I will have to get used to.

Image Cousin Syrys got a drum set from Santa for Christmas. Kanyon thought she was a rocker and banged around on them for a little while.

Image Kanyon and Aunt Sarah were all tuckered out from playing with soooo many toys that they had to break for a quick nap.

Christmas Eve

For Christmas Eve we drove down to Price to spend the holiday with Jake's family. It was alot of fun and there was alot of snow. Everyone had a great time either spending time outside sledding and snowmobiling, hunting (you can take a wild guess about who would have been the hunter), or else inside where it was warm enjoying the company of family.

Image

Image At Jake's house they open all the family gifts on Christmas Eve. Here is Cousin Syrys helping Kanyon open her first gift of the night. What girl wouldn't like to get a new fur coat and boots to match? She loves them!

Image Here is Baby K with her Grandpa Dennis. They have fun playing together. She gets excited when he walks in the room 'cause she know she is going to get picked up and thrown in the air!

Image
Image
Here is Kanyon all wrapped up in a HUGE stocking getting ready for Santa to come. I think that the only thing she was asking for was to feel better. I think I even caught her writing a letter to an elf telling him to take her stuffy nose away with him, and if he did that she would be the bestest girl all year.

Christmas With The Andersons

We had a fun evening at The Andersons at our Christmas Eve's EVE Party (Dec 23 for any of you who got confused). We had a great baby back rib dinner and exchanged our gifts. Jake & I are now going to go to the spa thanks to Kate & Blake...that is if I can pull him away from Guitar Hero, and that one is thanks to all the kids! haha

Image

Image Unfortunately Kanyon didn't feel so good. A stinkin' cold snuck up on her right before her First Christmas. But she's a trooper and enjoyed herself anyway.

Image Logan got an Aquadoodle and had fun drawing with water on the floor. That was until....

Image Mason opened up his talking alien "piggy" bank named Gobble. Then the fight was on.

Image This is Kate eating one of the many homemade fortune cookies I made to give them their gift of certificates for an evening out.

Bad Habits

Image Bad Habit: She is starting to suck her big toe! Whose kid is she anyway?!!

Image Bad Habit: She already has the "Who, ME??" attitude

Image Bad Habit: Already wants to take the Christmas decorations off of the tree.

The Launch

I am now an Independent BeautiControl Consultant and I am going to be selling BeautiControl products. I am SO excited. About a month ago I set the goal that I was going to launch my new endeavor on December 1, 2008...and here it is!

I have been using some of these products for about a year now and I just love them! There are all sorts of great products- skin care lines that are targeted to the age of your skin, spa products that can help you relax in the comfort of your own home, makeup that will become essentials for you, and even a men's product line. All these products are of high quality and are of a cosmeceutical grade. They are formulated with scientifically-advanced ingredients and have been dermatologist, ophthalmologist, sensitivity & allergy tested. And the best part is that they are never tested on animals.

To start things out with a bang, I want to make a special offer.

For the FIRST 4 PEOPLE who book and host a spa party with me during the month of December, I will give you this:

* 40% off of your skin care maintenance set. This set includes a cleanser, exfoliater, toner, & moisturizer
* a free neck wrap
* credit towards a product of your choice, depending on the sales of your party.
If your party brings in $200-299 I'll give you 10% of the sales toward the product of your choice
If your party brings in $300-500 I'll give you 15% of the sales toward the product of your choice
If your party brings in $500 or more I'll give you 20% of the sales toward the product of your choice
*AND I will also give you these 2 PRODUCTS FOR FREE AS A SPECIAL BONUS for helping me make my debut
Luxuries of the Sea Ocean Bath ($30 value) and
Luxuries of the Sea Instant Comfort Gel ($25 value)

Now your probably wondering...What is a Spa Party? Let me tell you! It's a wonderful way to spend time with your girlfriends and get pampered at the same time. You will be able to try some of our top selling items. It is a relaxing head to toe spa escape featuring high quality, botanically based skin care & spa treatments for your face, lips, hands, & feet.

Give you and your girlfriends the gift of relaxation, rejuvenation and fun this holiday season.

If you are interested in hosting a spa party and relaxing with your girlfriends, please contact me as soon as you can with possible dates you would like to host your spa. Feel free to ask me any questions. Don't hesitate...only the first 4 bookings can receive ALL of those perks.

I have also set up a website solely for the purpose of BeautiControl. On this site you can check out all the products and more. Please visit www.BeautiPage.com/BeMyEscape
I will also be using a different email address for BeautiControl correspondence at times. Please add this address to your "safe list".
[email protected]

I am really excited to be doing this, and the spa parties are so much fun! I hope you get a chance to enjoy one.
Happy Holidays!

Let's try to catch up....

Ok, For all of you out there who were worried about us 'cause I haven't posted an entry in a while, this update is for you.

WE WERE ON VACATION IN PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLORIDA!!

Yes, that is right. We were living life in sunny Florida. It was such a great trip. We were able to stay with Jake's Aunt Debbie & Uncle Fred. (a special "thanks" to you!) They have a house that sits on a waterway that heads out to the ocean. Jake would set his alarm at night so he could wake up extra early to go out fishing on the dock for some cool salt water fish. He was having the time of his life.
The first weekend we were in Florida, we spent it in Gainsville,- home of the Florida Gators! We all went to our first "Gators Tailgating" party at the University of Florida. There is quite a following of fans in that city. I think the tailgating parties surrounded the University about 4 blocks in each direction. Jake went on to watch the game in the stadium. A dream come true for him. Florida played South Carolina and won, 56-6. GO GATORS!!

Image The rest of our week was filled with all sorts of family fun. Alot of Jakes family lives down there so we got to spend time with Kanyon's Great Grandma, and Jake's aunts, uncles, sisters, cousins... the whole crew. We had fun shopping, eating sushi, and getting splashed at the beach. Jake's uncle took us out in his boat and we got to see beautiful mansions on the coast. It was seriously hard to think about having that much money...and most of them probably had a $20 million yacht to go with it. It was crazy to see. Jake & I spent one day in Ft. Lauderdale walking up & down the A1A. A1A is a "beachfront avenue" (yes, just like the Vanilla Ice song..lol). On one side there is a beach and the ocean, and the other side is full of shops and restaurants. We ate lunch at a place called The Rock Bar. I think we were served the biggest drinks ever at this place. The food wasn't so bad either. Jake also got to go scuba diving for the first time. He thought it was awesome. He found a starfish and brought it home as a souvenir. We had an awesome trip and would like to thank everyone in Florida for making it that way for us. We can't wait to come back.

Halloween

We had a great first Halloween for Kanyon this year. We dressed her up as a fish and Jake as a fisherman. It was so perfect. Jake used a fishing pole to "trick or treat" with. People loved it. We also had a fun Halloween party here Saturday night with a bunch of friends. Thanks to those who showed up and made this a memorable Halloween for our family.

New York

Image

New York was a great trip. I took Kanyon there for the first time. She traveled really well, barely made a peep at all on the planes. We were there for 2 weeks and the weather was perfect-with the exception of a couple rainy days. We were able to do everything we wanted to. We visited lots of family and friends, relaxed, played the NY lotto, ate NY style pizza, had REAL chicken wings, ate the best fish fry, went to a cider mill, took a hay ride, and had fun tromping around in the mud through a corn maze. The best thing of all is that I brought home a dozen half moon cookies! YUM! Sorry, but they are all gone now and I can't share, but they were really good. (Except for yours Charolette)

I love October

I think October has to be one of my favorite months. And, no, its not just cause my birthday falls within these 31 days. I love October because its not too hot and the sun is still shining. I love October because its not wierd for a kid to dress up like a dead cheerleader, in fact we give her candy for it. I love October because people think its funny for someone to chase you with a chain saw. (I, for one am not one of those people who think its funny). I love October because it reminds me of my mom telling me "Don't slip on the wet leaves!" every time I walked out the door. (She said it so often it turned into a joke). I love October because I think of apple cider, pumpkin patches, hay rides, corn mazes, and happy kids all hopped up on sugar! This October has and will be a good one. Jake got to come home, Kanyon is growing up and eating baby food, I am going to NY, I will be turning 30 (not sure if that makes this a good month or not, I haven't quite decided), and Jake & Kanyon will get to go Trick Or Treating for the first time. I hope all of you can enjoy October as much as I will.
Below I have posted some pics of some of our early October happenings.

ImageThis is Kanyon eating squash for the first time. I was actually kind of disappointed that she didn't make a terrible face at the taste of it and spit it all out. It was one of the few times I had the camera ready to catch a moment like that. But instead it was funny to watch her always try to shove her fingers in her mouth. I was impressed that she ate the entire container of it on her first try! An appetite like her Daddy.

Image
Image
Image We took a field trip to Gardner Village with Nana. (And I do mean FIELD TRIP- its alot of work getting 3 kids, a Nana, a pregnant woman and me in one car with all the necessities for everyone. I thought we were going to have to rent a bus to get there, but Kate's Durango worked just fine.)
Image And I forgot to mention earlier that Kanyon & I rode the Front Runner for the first time! Whoo hoo!
PS- These will be the last posts for a while until I get back from NY. I can guarantee you Jake won't update it.
Happy October!

He's Baacck!

Yippee! Jake is finally back from Texas! Its been an entire month! I am glad he is a hard worker, but I am REALLY glad he is home now. We had a fun "Welcome Home" party for him when he got back, complete with balloons and presents. (but there was no camera taking any pictures of that..boo!) Anyway, here were some highlights of his first day back home.

Kanyon had her 4 month dr appt the same day Jake got home. Dr told us to start rice cereal...so here are a couple pics of our first attempt. It actually didn't go all that bad.

Pictures & A Jake Update

Image
Image
I took Kanyon to get her pictures done today. We kept trying to get some family pics taken at 3 months, but it seemed like something would come up every time we had an appointment to do it. So, I took it upon myself to just go have her pictures professionally taken...so what if her 3 month old pictures were taken a month too late... At least they are done! However I did have a really hard time making her smile. I left feeling like she was the most serious baby in the world. These are just 2 samples of the pics we took. I get to go next week and see them all and pick out the ones I want.
**Update**Jake called today. Said that he was headed North...then West....that means he's coming home to Utah!! But wait...not so fast--don't get too excited. There is a kink in this story. So yeah, he called and he was headed home. He said the company in Houston decided not to use them and sent them away. Well, for whatever reason, hours later, Jake gets a call saying to turn around and head back to Houston. They are going to need their help afterall. Now, I am not sure exactly why that happened, but I would like to speculate that it had something to do with contract negotiations. If Sturgeon Electric doesn't get what they ask for, they head out. So maybe that happened then some compromises were made to bring them back. Too bad they were already in Dallas by the time Jake got the call. So, starting tomorrow morning Jake will be in Houston- and not on his way home.

The Weekend

Image JAKE! You need to come home!! Things are getting out of control! Kanyon got her first kiss from a BOY!
We went to dinner with some friends last night. Both couples have little boys and its kind of a joke about which one will "whoo" Kanyon. Well this lucky little one, Parker, was the one to give her the first kiss.

Image

This is a picture of Kanyon next to a watermelon that we grew in our garden! Can you believe that they both weigh 15 lbs?! This weekend we picked all the watermelon. We picked 13 of them, the heaviest weighed in at 25 pounds. This was Jake's favorite thing that we grew, and now he's not here to eat it! I am going to keep a couple in the cellar, hoping to keep them cool and fresh for him so he can enjoy them too!
