Freedom Awaits - Magpie Tale #95
Freedom Awaits
By KMF
The worlds closing in on him
He sinks a little deeper each day
Weighted down by his world
His world of decay
He can no longer move
His limbs now entombed
Petrified ... defeated
Isolated & doomed
He's all but been swollowed
By this cancerous pain
If only he could realise
That he could feel good again
With a little more fight
He could inch his way free
Take hold of the oars
And sail on Freedoms sea!
He could take back life

Time to smell the Flowers
So the month of September
Flew on past
With breakneck speed
It went by fast
Assignments done
But theres still more to do
Then throw in some work
And lots of study too
It's been quite busy
But it was never a bore
I just didn't have time
For this thing I adore
But I had a window of time
To take a few shots
In the city of flowers
In fact I took lots
So heres some now
Please take a look around
Browse through the flowers
And see whats to be found
Tiptoe through the tulips
Burned orange flowers
Is the one I adore.
(and there were hundreds of them)
These photos were taken in Toowoomba in Queens Park just near the city centre. It was the weekend that the townspeople get visitors from near and far to come help celebrate the coming of spring with a special annual event known as The Festival of Flowers. We just happened to be there that weekend to help a very dear friend celebrate her 40th Birthday and decided to stop at the park on our trip home. I'm so glad we did stop to take a walk through the park and steal a few photos of the floral beauties we saw. Time to smell the flowers so to speak!!!
I'm sorry I've not been around in a while but just like my little poem discribes my time has been consumed by so many other things of late. I hope that life has been treating you all well! I do miss my visits to everyone in blogland & I'm hoping my life settles some time soon but somehow I don't think it's going to be for a while. Love Katherine x

Busy Busy Life
Today is the very first opportunity that I've had to get on the computer and do something other than work or study. I just wanted everyone to know that I am fine, I'm just very busy.
It is RUOK day here in Australia and I'm just checking in on all my blogger friends to see if you are all OK? I certainly hope so.
Anyway it really is just a short stop by Bloggerville for me tonight & I'm going to be busy for a few more days yet but hope to be able to make some time for writing next week and get around to reading everyones blogs.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Love Katherine :)

One Fateful Night!
Painting by Dan Hahlbohm
"The arms of an Angel"
Heavy the hearts for lives now lost
One soul would have been too many
11 now soar on angels wings
Three generations now left this earth
One fateful & very sad night
One soul would have been too many
11 now soar on angels wings
Three generations now left this earth
One fateful & very sad night
Sunday 160 with Monkey Man
This was a very sad week for Brisbane. Eleven people from 2 families died in a very tragic housefire. Nothing like this has ever happened here before. My mother lives in the same street and describes everything that she has seen and heard and the grief is indescribable. It is an event that will remain in the hearts & minds of many for a long, long time to come.

Take Care my American Friends!
Tonight I just learned of the looming threat of Hurricane Irene on the Australian evening news and yesterday of the earthquake that shook the East Coast. I am not sure where all of you live and I wanted to let you know that my thoughts & prayers are with you all & I pray you all remain safe. Please take care! Katherine ♥

Crazy For You
We walked through the doors of the party. There were couples moving together slowly on the make shift dance floor, bodies intertwined and moving rythmically to the music. Then there was a pause and a new song began to play. I can remember how nervous I was when you asked me to dance. And I remember the song! It was Madonna's "Crazy For You".
You put your arm around the small of my back & I could feel the heat of your hand radiating through my dress. Your touch electrified me & my heart starting pounding ten to the dozen. I felt queezy, in a very good kind of way. You gently pulled me into you and you wrapped your arms around me. In that moment it was as though everyone else in the room just disappeared. It was just me, you & the music. I remember thinking that I didn't want the song, this moment, this night to ever end.
This was our very first slow dance & I will never forget it!

Painted Women - Delphin Enjolras
Recently I discovered the beautiful works of an amazing artist, french painter Delphin Enjolras.
I learned that he's best known for his intimate portraits of young women doing everyday things like reading or sewing and they are often by illuminated by lamplight.
I absolutely love his style & I wanted to share a few of his paintings with you here.

Odd Dream ... what does it mean?
Last night I had a dream. Part of my dream was very lucid. I met this lovely young woman. She was working or maybe she lived in a big old sand stone building with beautiful manicured gardens. We were sitting outside in the gardens on a picnic bench and she was sharing with me some self doubts. I remember asking her what her name was and she said Yvette O'Mallery. She had blue eyes, blonde hair, was softly spoken and was very pretty. I remember saying to her that I had a message from someone named Sarah. The message was " Not to change!" ..... Then I woke up with these names on my mind.
What is the significance of a dream like this? I don't know anyone name Yvette O'Malley. Very odd dream indeed!

A lovely Sunday drive!
A few week ends back my husband and I packed a picnic lunch and went for a drive, just the two of us, through the Gold Coast Hinterland, through the Numingbah Valley, Springbrook National Park to Kingscliff & Fingal Heads. It was a long drive but it was most definitely a beautiful one.
Below are just a few of the photos I took on that day. There are so many more. I guess I was a little trigger happy, which happens when I find myself in such breathtaking places.

This is the pathway through the rainforest nature strip that led to the stairs up to Fingal Head Lookout. Such a delightful walk, with such breathtaking surroundings. You could hear the seagulls ( of the sea) & the lorikeets ( of the rainforest) competing for air space. Mix that in with the sound of the rolling waves, it was nothing short of magical.
This is atop cliffs looking down onto the beach

Looking out onto Cook Island
Couldn't help but take a photo of this rather cool looking pigeon. Just get a load of his mohawk!
On the beach at Kingscliff ... isn't it beautiful. Sadly most of the beach has been eaten away by king tides. This was just a little strip that was left. It will take time but the beach will rebuild itself, with a little help from mankind.
This is also Kingscliff

Stormy Seas

The waves they swelled on stormy seas
Angry skies covered the sky in black
Lightening lit the sky on fire
Whilst thunder sounds did crack
Clouds collided and the rain it fell
In sheets like shards of glass
Hard and heavy for hours and hours
I can't wait for the storm to pass
The palms they swayed almost touching the ground
The wind it screamed high pitch
Signs they fell from the fronts of shops
Cars, bins and things crashed into the ditch
Cyclone Yasi she passed on through
Leaving destruction in her wake
She really was a bitch of storm
A massive mess she sure did make

Five Score Years Ago!

Orange trees & fennel shrubs
Big dams & rolling fields
Rusted blades turn round and round
Water's pumped from the power it yields
It may be old and rustic
It's a landmark of the land
Great grandfather built it five score years ago
And it still stands tall and grand

Not the Zigfield Follies - Magpie #75

It aint the Zigfield Follies
It aint Cirque De Sole
It aint the The Black n White Mistrals
In burlesque style, it's risque
There are men in tigerprint lap laps
Walking on needles & spikes
There are girls singing the songs of the sirens
Whilst peddling topless on bikes
It's a feast for the senses
It's a show to be seen
So if it tickles your fancy
It's starts July sixteen

Foundations

Come in for a while
Take time, look around
I'm a unique kind of construction
No others like me to be found
I'm forever changing
Inside and out
I'm always changing appearance
Of this theres no doubt
My foundations are sturdy
This is a fact
Thanks to the love a woman
Whom raised me like that
I have many flaws
Can't be perfect you know!
Though I know how to nurture
And like to help others grow
If life is the building
Then mines only half done
I'm still under construction
But that's half the fun

Just Be!
This week went by in the blink of an eye! Some weeks are just like that, they're so busy that it's can be hard to catch your breathe & really relax. Tonight though, I can! I can just sit here on my patooty, all alone, I don't have to rush anywhere or do anything. I can sit here in my jim-jams, with my fluffy slippers on and do nothing. There is something about this scenario that is truly wonderful & very much needed.
Sometimes it is nice to just - Be!
Be in the moment
Be silent
Be rested
Be contented
Be alone
Yep, Just Be!
So I raise my glass of Bailey's & say cheers!! Cheers to Me!
Tee! Hee! Hee!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
