Weekly Challenge #241

Greeting Tanglers! This week the challenge, over at i am the diva is by guest challenger, Paula Bramante using Cairns, or stones and ceremony for our tiles. I just knew that I had to do a take on Tina-Akua Hunziker’s, tangle Stonestory. You can find her step outs for this tangle here. I had some fun researching Cairns and learning about them, and this is my tile for the challenge this week.

I also have been tangling a pumpkin for Halloween, so here are also some views of that fun project. I think that I am going to hit the sales and pick up a few more, so I can continue to add them to the decorations for next year.

Weekly challenge #240

It is Birthday Leaves for the challenge over at i am the diva this week. I had a lot of fun doing this little Zia. I first used a watercolor wash in the background, then traced the leaves, tangled and finished it up with some extra color using my prismacolor colored pencils.

Interestingly enough I had started a project with my enrichment class of 7th graders at school doing the same thing last week. They just are finishing up this week, so I thought I would share a little bit of their work with you too.

Weekly Challenge #239

Greetings Tanglers! The challenge this week over at i am the diva was to use Munchin and play. I had a good time trying out a few ways to play with this tangle. Like the diva, black tiles are not my favorite. I of course couldn’t find the bottle of black gesso that I know that I have in the house, so that will have to wait until another time for me to try the divas solution, but I did try one white on a black tile. I messed up the background on the tile, so had to find a solution for that dilemma. I just cut it out around the main tangle and glued it on to a renaissance tile and continued on.

Here are two more that I played with, on a tan tile and another on the black, but using my Irojiten pencils for some color. I do like the way those work on the black tiles with the black impressed lines.

Weekly Challenge #238

The diva challenge this week is a UMT challenge featuring Beate Winkler’s new tangle Tri-Bee. I really enjoyed playing with this tangle and know that it is going to become one of my go to tangles.  Thanks, Beate!

Now for a little catch up from last week. Here are my two versions of challenge #237, where guest challenger Charlotte Carpentier, had us using sprays and stencils to create our strings. I don’t have to many stencils, but did have one that gives a sort of zebra stripe. I used some Smooch Pearlized Accent spray on a tan tile and then used the left over spray on the stencil to stamp a second white tile. The pearlized effect doesn’t really show in the photo but is quite pretty in person.

Last is a Random Act of Zentangle tile that I left behind in one of my favorite stores. I wasn’t able to snap a photo when I left it. There were to many eyes around and I didn’t what to draw attention to what I was doing.
