St. George

A few weekends ago we went on a VERY spur of the moment trip down to St. George with our friends Brittany, Scott, and Van. We stayed with Evan's delightful grandma Grettle and just relaxed and visited with her for three glorious days. Adelaide had her first experience in the pool with her man Van...she didn't really like it. We'll have to remedy that this summer because it is TOO HOT in the summer here not to go to the pool. I was a slacker and I only got these pictures of her first swimming experience... I didn't get any with her great grandma... I guess that we'll have to go down again soon.

Half of a Year

I don't know if you are aware of this, but half of a year goes by very quickly. It goes by even more quickly when you have a sweet little Laidy that takes up most of your time in the most delightful way. This little Laidy is starting to look more and more like a toddler and less and less like a baby. At six months old she is 18 lbs 10 oz, 27 inches long, has two bottom teeth and almost four top teeth, and has a very large personality. For her 6 month birthday celebration she and her BFF (Josie Lou Allen) went out on the town. They cruised around downtown Logan, watched their moms eat ice cream from the candy shop on the corner, and looked and laughed at each other. Besides Adelaide's meltdown before we all headed out and Josie's meltdown because Adelaide was in her bubble, the day went smoothly. Here are a few pics from her half a year birthday:

These are just a couple of pictures from her meltdown. It was too funny not to document it. Also, unlike most babies, Adelaide does not like to be cuddled or soothed when she is upset. She literally pushes me away and cries harder when I try to hug her and comfort her. Glad I'm already raising an independent chica...just wish she'd let me cuddle with her a little.

Image
Notice the arm on my chest? That is constantly there so that I don't get the wrong idea. She's letting me hold her so that she can get around...nothing more. She wants to make sure there isn't too much hugging and kissing going on (even though I still force her to hug me every few minutes).

Image
And this last documentation is little Josie Lou's meltdown which started when Adelaide sat on the bottom part of her stroller for a photo op. Apparently Josie has a bubble and Adelaide was in it because she was trying to kick A off the stroller. It was hilarious. Shels and I just laughed.
Anyhoo... Happy 6 months!!! (and 3 months for miss Josie)

A Very Special Lady

On April 1st, 2012 the world lost a remarkable woman. Sheryl Stoker was one of the most generous, kind, loving, and amazing women I have ever met. She fought so hard to stay on earth and be with her children and grandchild, but God had other plans for her. I am so grateful for the time that I had with her and the time that Adelaide had to get to know her Grammy. I know that she is in heaven looking out for all of us and chilling with her future grandchildren. I'm so grateful for the plan of salvation and the knowledge that we will see Sheryl again. Her time on earth may have come to a close, but she will be a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter for all eternity.

A Laidy's Best Friend

Why have a semi-large dog indoors, you may ask? Why not? Especially when this is the result:

BFFs

Sweet Josie Lou was blessed a couple of weeks ago, so Adelaide was able to spend some quality time with her BFF. Josie still isn't too sure what to think about crazy Adelaide, but Adelaide is super excited for the day that Josie isn't scared of her. She gets so excited when she sees Josie that she literally starts to shake and then she lets out a squeal of delight. The brainwashing started early (in the womb) for her to be BFFs with my BFFs daughter. Adelaide was obviously taken with the idea... we'll see how Josie feels about it.

Five Months...Really?

Our girl is five months old? Hard to believe! Here are some of the things that are going on in her life:
Image
This chair has SAVED MY LIFE (thank you, Cami), but I think it may be time to retire it.
Image
Adelaide knows how to chill out every once in a while, and this chair seems to bring that side of her out. She just kicks back and takes it easy. No, I did not put her arm up on the arm rest. That's just how that little Laidy chills.
Image
She upgraded to a new bearsuit. Not nearly as funny as the old one, but it still makes me chuckle.
Image
She is starting on solids. This is her first go with rice cereal. Note the terror in her face...absolute terror. The terror goes quickly into betrayal when I give her the first taste of rice cereal. I don't think that the video captured the extent of her fear and betrayal.
Adelaide is starting to take her workouts very seriously. I'm not sure if it's all of the fat jokes or not, but there is some serious anger that she is taking out on those poor toys. I like when she blows bubbles and I hope you do too.

Adelaide is 1/3 of a Year Old

On Friday the 24, my dearest Adelaide will be four months old. To celebrate the occassion, I want to share a few of my favorite things about this little Laidy:
Image Her freaking beautiful, awesome face!!!!!
Image Tummy time when she doesn't cry
Image Watching her splash around in the tub at bath time
Image Her BEAR SUIT! (Thank you, Jules)
Image Her coat with the ears on the top
Image Her goofy smile
Image Her model smile
Image Her laugh that is SO LOUD!
Image When she sleeps like an airplane
Image This picture was just too funny. I had to include it.
Image When she sleeps with her arms up in the air
Image When she falls asleep on daddy's shoulder (or mine preferably)
Image When she wears the same outfits as her friends (sorry I never sent this to you ,Tori)
When she talks like Mariah Carey sings and the reaction her great-granny gave upon meeting her.

All-in-all, I love my little girl...all 16 pounds of her (yes...you heard right... you only wish your four month old was that big...suck it).

Adelaide's First Christmas!!!

So... four months later.... I'm posting about Christmas. Oh, well.
Well, it was our first Christmas with a kiddo and it was pretty fun. We didn't get her anything (she was only two months...we're not bad parents), but she had fun looking at the wrapping paper and playing with it and watching me squeal and cry over the rocking chair Evan made me (he's pretty awesome). I mostly forgot what we did, but I remember having fun and loving being with my family. I'll just post some pictures.
