Ranged Guide

Career Build and Tactics: Career Build Renown Build

Strategy Guide: Make sure to mix up this rotation a bit but I’m going to explain step by step on taking down Casters in a duel.

Step One: Make sure your pet is out before the duel it is a necessity during a duel.

Step Two: Once the fight begins you will want to start running towards the enemy depending on whether or not your using Daemonic Reach or Close Quarters you really want to mix it up to trick your opponent. Begin using your Withered Soul to increase your damage by 15%, then using Baleful Transmogrification and Glean Magic  to lower there Spirit Resistance. Make sure to mix up that cycle that way they don’t know what they are severing off themselves.

Step Three: Go ahead and use your Indigo Fire of Change wait until about 3 tics on it and they should be around 15-25% life start the next step.

Step Four: Start off this cycle by using Surging Violet Fire and continuing with a Surge of Insanity. After that either use another Indigo Fire of Change or a Surging Violet Fire.

Tip: Mix rotation up a bit and just get used to hitting those keys at the correct time and make sure to use your Aegis of Orange Fire as soon as you can get it off once your health gets low.

Tip: Make sure to stay as  close as you can if using Close Quarters this is basically a big DPS race, It’s really only a necessity to use Daemonic Reach if your opponent has more DPS then you then try to stay out of the range of his attacks and still be able to cast all your spells.

Melee Guide

Career Build and Tactics: Career Build Renown Build

Strategy Guide: Make sure to mix up this rotation a bit but I’m going to explain step by step on taking down Melee in a duel.

Step One: Make sure your pet is out before the duel it is a necessity during a duel and make sure to lay out a Dissolving Mist soon as the fight begins.

Step Two: Always make sure you use Withered Soul the 15% more damage really helps out on getting them down as fast as possible, you also want to use Baleful Transmogrification that extra tic of damage could be what you need to finish the enemy. Last but not least make sure you throw your Glean Magic in there somewhere the lower spirit resistance on them makes a big difference. Make sure when using these 3 DoTs to mix them up a bit, if you keep using the same rotation they will just keep severing off your Withered Soul DoT and it makes a big difference on your damage.

Step Three: Depending on how close they are to you by now is whether or not you want to use the Infernal Blast on them if they are already in melee range you want to make sure to go ahead and begin your Instability on them for that 3s Knockdown this is when you want to use your Indigo Fire of Change after they get back up and you finish your IFoC make sure to knock them back.

Step Four: After the knock back you will want to begin you killing blow rotation which includes the following Surge of Insanity try to base the usage of this spell on the spell graphics for there big damage or CC moves.  Another spell you want to stick in this KB rotation is Surging Violet Fire and then I just spam a few rend winds until IFoC cool down is up and then finish them off with that or another SVF.

Tip: Mix rotation up a bit and just get used to hitting those keys at the correct time and make sure to use your Aegis of Orange Fire as soon as you can get it off once your health gets low.

Defensive gear setup against a BW. GW and LW

•March 15, 2010 • Leave a Comment

This is a great gear setup for a lower level Magus that have their hands on Sentinel and Annihilator gear sets.

Helm: Sentinel Barbute for the 3% Reduction in being Critically Hit.

Shoulders: Annihilator Warpmantle for the 3% Reduction in being Critically Hit.

Chest: Annihilator Nightrobe for the +3 AP Per Second.

Gloves: Sentinel Bracers for the +21 Magic Power.

Belt: Sentinel Whipshash which I really just wear to balance out the gear and get the 3 piece bonuses from each set.

Boots: Annihilator Daemonspurs I pretty much wear these for the same reason.

Reasoning: Able to stack Both Intellegence and Elemental Resistance which is one of the BW most used magic.

Screen shots bellow to see the 3 piece bonuses.

Survivability gear setup with Supreme Wards and Superior Wards:

Includes: Sovereign Helmet for the +3 Morale per Second, Sovereign Shoulders for the 4% Reduction in being Critically Hit, Invader Chest for the +60 Hit Points every 4 Seconds, Sovereign Gloves for the 4% Magical Crit Chance, Invader Belt and Invader Boots for the +30 Toughness

Note: I can’t use all my Sovereign gear quite yet so the visual screen shot shows me wearing Invader Helmet instead of wearing the Sovereign Helmet which I put my boots on to balance the Toughness bonuses.

My thoughts on the Magus

•February 26, 2010 • 5 Comments

As of right now we are one of the least played classes due to lack of intelligence on the class everyone things we are a waste of a class and that we can not do enough DPS to be in a premade. I don’t believe any of that non sense we have tons of CCs and unique things we can do that really makes us a great asset to a party. What classes can do a AoE Knockdown for 4s? or even provide a 15% extra bonus damage to a single target? none. We are also able to pull off enough DPS and KBs to keep up with sorcs most of the time. I highly recommend people to try the class it’s a very fun class to play we are a little bit squishy but we are definitely a great asset to a party.

Wild Changing Tests

•February 25, 2010 • 2 Comments

Today I ran some tests on the additional 15% Crit chance and my tests have shown that they will show on extra 15% on the character window but they do not increase the chance to crit at all so for those Magi out there slotting Wild Changing right now you might want to take that off.

Here are some screen shots to prove this:

So start swapping out your Wild Changing Crit Tactic for something more useful Magi and get back to work!

My Default DPS Spec!

•February 24, 2010 • 3 Comments

My spec includes the following tactics Endless Knowledge for the Intellgence bonus, Close Quarters for the 25% more damage, Daemonic Withering for the 15% more damage with Withered Soul DoT and Wild Changing for the 15% additional Crit. For my Career Path I go all the way up the changing tree and get the following Daemonic Scream Morale, Dissolving mist for the extra DoT AoE DPS, Devour Energy AP Regen. For the and Indigo Fire of Change witch is the biggest DPS spell we have right now usually I will throw withered soul then glean magic my target then throw this ability on them witch makes me usually able to kill dps and healer classes in 3-4 hits with my crits. For the rest of my points I usually just go up into the Havoc tree unless it’s more of a survivability spec I will go up the Daemonology tree and get Aegis of Orange Fire and use that with my potions that way i can regain about 5k hp when needed and I will get the tactic Daemonic Pact for the gigantic buff on toughness if I have my pet out and will usually swap that out for Enless Knowledge.    My gear setup is really based off of who is in the scenario if they have alot of melee classes I will usually use my 4 piece Sovereign    3 piece Invader for the Toughness bonuses if it’s a caster or tank based sc I will usually go with my 3 piece Dark Promise and 4 piece Warlord for the wounds and magic crit bonuses. Basically in my opinion I would recommend rolling with toughness against melee heavy parties and wounds magic crit against casters and tank heavy parties. For my renown path I usually do 4 Int first then 4 into int and willpower 3 into my crit and the rest into wounds.

ImageImage

My strategies on using this spec are always lay your withered soul and Baleful Transmogrification  on the enemies first then you want to throw your spirit debuff glean magic after that lay your AoE DoTs unless your just going for one enemy then you want to stick to gleaning them and throwing Indigo Fire of Change on them and when there about 10% life use your Surging Violet Fire or if that on cool down use your Surge of Insanity.

Thats How It’s Done!
