Why, hello there??
My WACE results come out tomorrow. The finale to 1.5 years has come. The actual end, I mean.
Wait, was that said right? Tomorrow?!! Yes, TOMORROW!
I'm scared of just clicking, or logging in. AND BOOM, getting results. I'm scared of missing my target. Scared of underperforming. Terrified for my Bio. PETRIFIED for Maths c/d. ):
I am hoping and praying now that scaling will be kind to me. A bit too late, but please let me get scaled up for Maths. Haihhhh. Accounts, EALD, Chem. asdfghjkl
My future hangs in the balance, in those numbers. The ranking that will be bestowed upon me.
Butterflies now live permanently inside my abdomen. They refuse to leave. So, I let them be.
But when, I wake up tomorrow. It's just one step closer to my fate. :/
Wow, drama much? But I can't help it. Terrifying in the highest degree!
I have a bet with a friend. Two bets, in fact, with the same friend. I hope that no one pays anyone. A win-win situation.
But now. I retreat into the relative calm and safety of my den. Before being thrown back into the tempest that awaits me as dawn breaks. Farewell, and take care friends.
And to my Ausmates, may the force be with you.

But, soft?
"What light through yonder window breaks."
This line has been repeating itself over and over and over again in my head. For no apparent reason, of course.
So, it has almost been a whole month since I ended my studies at Sunway. I kinda miss it. Miss many things about Sunway..including Pyramid. hehe. Well, I suppose that after going there several times per week, you sorta get attached to the place. The familiarity of Pyramid is just so..appealing. To know that you'll never be lost, you don't need to use the directory (except when deciding on where to eat). But to think about it, most of my time spent in Pyramid has been rushing here and rushing there. Rushing to Pyramid to buy lip balm for my brutally cracked lips in just over 15 minutes. Rushing for lunch. I never really spent that much time, strolling around with no purpose.
A blog post by Nicholas Keevan wouldn't really be a blog post by Nicholas Keevan if there wasn't an academic reference. WACE results are in 20 days time! Cue alarm bells, soon. I don't want, and haven't had to think about them in great detail yet. Dreams of results have also yet to appear, so thank God. Nevertheless, with the release of WACE results, news of university placement is also looming ominously.
If all goes well, then the next few months could be quite busy ones. Packing, shopping etc. But for now, I have had the time to indulge myself in many good books and movies, and TV shows! However, I need company for Star Wars and LOTR marathons. Volunteers, anyone?
So, farewell for now. I don't know when my next update will be. But soft, what light through yonder window breaks. For it is the East, and I am the sun.

WACE!
Oh hai.
Like woah, I haven't posted anything for 2 months!
I'm not gonna blame Ausmat, but I'll blame myself.
Oh well, WACE is next week. I'd never thought I would hear myself say that so soon. But here I am, here's WACE. 50% of this massive course has been accomplished. And yeah, from January til October, results are quite satisfactory. Now, I just need to push ahead, push hard past the finish line. And then, come 29th December 2011, I shall hope to deliver good news.
News concerning my departure to my university of choice next February. Yes that's just a little over 3 months to go. I am excited, no doubt about that.
Fare thee well for now, non-existent readers of this blog of a bygone era. I shall leave youse with some entertainment

Pottermore (:
Well, I was selected for early access into Pottermore. And I got my welcome email like 4 days ago.
The best part about it so far is that I was sorted into Ravenclaw!!!!!!! WOOHOO!
Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure!
And, we are kicking all the other houses' butts in the House Championship. Go go go 'Claws!
Ahhh, I feel so proud to belong to this wonderful house of Hogwarts. (:

3B
Second sem (actually third, but first sem was negligible) starts today! :D
But first, EE results are trickling in. So far, so good (I think la). I expected worse for Chemistry. But it turns out that your brain does strange things; it exacerbates bad things and plays down others that are fine. Probably a survival instinct. But, I still cannot believe I just lost 3 marks like that. 3 marks which was equivalent to 3% of EE. Alas, I take comfort in the fact that Chemistry EE was only 17% of 3A meaning 8.5% of internal marks and 4.25% of WACE course. Haha. So, 3 marks in Chem is...negligible as well?
Nevertheless, percentage has dropped, but Chem still remains as my first subject. (touch wood)
EALD is also fine. Just thank God I can bank on it to be my scoring subject. Hopefully 3B marks will only push my marks up further.
Maths 3C/3D? LOL. No comment. I am satisfied. Hopefully, scaling will be kind to me. Hopefully all those Curriculum Council documents and reports I read are true. Maths 3CD get a 30 mark increment. And scaled up, up and away. My advice for Maths; careless mistakes KILL. So, check check check. And leave everything in 4 decimal places of 5 or 6 or 83 decimal places just to be safe that the teacher can't penalise you.
Accounts and Bio tomorrow. Hoping for the best! I really need to score in these 2 subjects, especially ACF. I AM an accounting student, after all. Hopefully, my pseudo-confidence will turn out to be well placed conviction in my accounts EE paper. And I am prepared to fight for Bio. I don't care if it's not in our textbook. How many study guide questions can be solved by using the textbook ONLY?
And a polar bear still swims in cold water to cool itself down, REGARDLESS of whether the textbook states it or not. I tell you, logical and factual fallacies.
Bio task results should be out soon. It's always hard to score full marks for take-home assignments. Oh well, que sera sera, whatever will be, will be.
kthxbai
P/s I realised that I use a lot of Ausmat jargon. So, just pretend you know what I'm talking about la. Explaining the whole system of Ausmat takes about 30-40 mins, time I do not have at the moment.

Exposure Effect
Sup my peoples. Notice the absence of blog post updates. This can be attributed to the increasingly atrocious nature of Ausmat. Being in Ausmat, takes real consistency. Gone are the days of SPM; fun fun fun fun for months on end, and only study crazily when exams are around the corner. Now, the steady flow of tasks keeps me on edge. Every task; must score MAXIMUM! Competition here is also insane. Well done, ranking-based Ausmat. Just brought out the best (and worst) in everyone. So, 99.95... Probably too much to ask. It's good to aim high, but not too high, especially when it is seemingly unattainable. Optimists might say otherwise, but they are the ones who will go into spiralling depression when all their goals are not achieved. Therefore, I'll try to keep my goal in the high 90s. All for the sake of Auckland, Otago, Canterbury.
Many people can't wait for Ausmat to end. Well, I think that time is flying fast past us as it is. It's already what? April? Yeah, I've already completed 53% of my time in Sunway, but talking qualitatively, it's only been about 35% done. :/
That brings me (or does it?) to my title. The exposure effect is a psychological phenomenon, whereby people tend to develop attraction to something or someone due to the element of familiarity. In the context of interpersonal relationships, it can basically be said that : the more you see/spend time with someone, the closer you get, and the more pleasing and likeable that individual appears.
As a HSBC (Human Social Behaviourist), this may seem obvious enough, maybe to the point of this concept being tautology. However, deeper analysis to interpersonal relationships reveal startling results. For one; out of sight, out of mind.
So, where does this all bring us? Or bring me? If you want to forget someone, it doesn't help that you share multiple classes or meet each other 5 days a week. The exposure effect is just too strong for the bond to be broken. Therefore, one has to rely on the converse of the exposure effect. Hoping that 'distance makes the heart grow fonder' does not hold truth at all. Therefore, while the breaking of chemical (or interpersonal) bonds may exert a little pain at first, time will heal most things, turning the fresh wounds of this broken link into long forgotten, and disappearing scars that can be overlooked. Just like the scratch that Lampard ( cat, not the human) deployed on my hand. It is now fading. Although I remember Lampard when I see that scar, in 5 to 10 years, you probably will catch me saying "Scar? What scar? Lampard? Frank Lampard?"
And that is the exposure effect from the point of view of a HSBC.

fret not.
Matthew 6: 24-34
No one can be the slave of two masters: he will either hate the first and love the second, or be attached to the first and despise the second. You cannot be the slave both of God and of money.
'That is why I am telling you not to worry about your life and what you are to eat, nor about your body and what you are to wear. Surely life is more than food, and the body more than clothing!
Look at the birds in the sky. They do not sow or reap or gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they are?
Can any of you, however much you worry, add one single cubit to your span of life?
And why worry about clothing? Think of the flowers growing in the fields; they never have to work or spin;
yet I assure you that not even Solomon in all his royal robes was clothed like one of these.
Now if that is how God clothes the wild flowers growing in the field which are there today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, will he not much more look after you, you who have so little faith?
So do not worry; do not say, "What are we to eat? What are we to drink? What are we to wear?"
It is the gentiles who set their hearts on all these things. Your heavenly Father knows you need them all.
Set your hearts on his kingdom first, and on God's saving justice, and all these other things will be given you as well.
So do not worry about tomorrow: tomorrow will take care of itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.'

In Solidarity With Christchurch
:(
Yet another earthquake has hit Christchurch, as most of you would probably know by now. It was the second major earthquake to hit the city in 5 months. The previous one, although it registered a higher value on the Richter scale wasn't as devastating as yesterday's quake. 75 people have been reported dead, and the number is expected to rise further.
I hope and pray that Christchurch will recover speedily. University of Canterbury. :|
No, I'm not afraid to go there, but most are.
Hopefully, this will be the last major earthquake to hit New Zealand.

almost déjá vu
Have you ever had the feeling of having been in that situation before, but trying to recall when exactly did that situation occur, then coming to the realisation that this situation has not occured before, but it is the first time this is happening. Then remembering that you did actually experience a situation in which you were trying to remember when that happened but realising that it wasn't a case of repeating situations but a first time event, and it has indeed happened before, thus it was a case of a repeating situation with similar but distinct circumstances. ?

Comment Allez-vous?
Shanthini taught me how to say "How are you?" in French. Yea, she was so lucky, because she was from the TOP SCHOOL in Selangor, according to her. Hahah.
Well, je vais bien. Already a fortnight in my second semester. I finally have decided to pick, and finalise my subject combination for AUSMAT. Hopefully, it'll bring me super high ATAR! 99.95, you shall never elude me.
All around me, I watched as people struggled with indecisiveness. I watched incredulous faces as I took the road less traveled. I know, am sure of it! Many people are just so afraid to take that step that leads to excellence. Well, I hope you find the courage before it finds you. (that didn't make any sense)
I am researching about introduced species in Australia, focusing on introduced animals. It's quite sad to note that these 'invaders' are destroying Australia's amazing natural biodiversity. I feel like killing all these invader animals. That means you, Mr. Cane Toad and Dingo!
Learning so much about Australia, you can definitely be sure that I will go there one day, but not for one day. Haha. Jenani, I iz goin to crash yo place for da Aussie Open! Muhaahahaha.
On another note, missed Roger's decimation of Xavier Malisse. It seems that I partially jinx the players that I support, whenever I watch them. They seems to lose concentration and experience a dip in form, but *touch wood* end up winning in the end.
I allllllso, deactivated facebook for the umpteenth time. No la, jk. I'm not RAB. Only my third time. I am so sure I will be back before you can say ATAR!
Here are some words of wisdom for you:
Dude, she just called you a muggle!! OH HELL NO... hold my.... where's my wand??!!

Anticipation
Yaaarrgh. After what seemed to be like an eternity, it appears that exam results of the first semester are out! They are on the move to homes, silently and dangerously lurking in bags on motorcycles. *shrieks!*
I just thought I heard a postman! But no, false alarm. And that was postbox check number one. I also have decided not to go ahead with postbox guard duty, as I have no idea whether post men even work on Saturdays. :/
I don't know who to blame. Firstly, I'll blame Sunway. For delivering results so super-duperly *insert superlative of choice here* LATE. Our second semester is going to start already. What was going on during the 4.5 weeks? -_-" And yeah, what IS the use of iZone anyway? It's just filling up pixels on the internet. Nothing there has been updated at all. No results! Maybe I should blame AUSMAT? Because my MUFY friends could check theirs' online.
Secondly, Pos Malaysia... I don't know which post office Sunway used, and I don't even know IF they used a post office..But, how long can it possible take to deliver mail here?? :I
Disappointing...
Anyways, I hope I can get it today. Or else, when I'm back to school on Monday.
On the topic of my subjects, on the other hand... I just HOPE to get above 70 for English. PLEAAAASE. And above 70 for Maths as well! Still in a dilemma over the 3A/3B or 3C/3D thingy.
So, second semester is starting. I start my course proper. After 6 months of _________. Hope to not post that often because I hope to study more. :D

Emo
:I
I have no more motivation to blog. Seems like the only visitors here are me, myself and I.
Well, the survival of this blog depends on my mood on the next few days.
Back to college, eh UNIVERSITY (LOL) next week. I can't wait, or can I? This year appears to be real horrorshow. I'm a malenky bit nervous and confused. My gulliver hurts from thinking which Maths to take.
Hmm, new malchicks and devotchkas to join next year.
ATAR 99.5 ?? Okay, I shall try my best! >:D
Don't expect much more updates in the future (if the blog survives).
