Been away
Okay, I haven't been away, per se, but I have been away from LJ. See, I forgot my password, and Hans did something that made all my stored passwords go Poof! So I haven't been able to comment on anyone else's blogs or post my own. I love not having all my brain cells operational.
Lots going on right now, and nothing going on right now, all at the same time. Had my scan on Friday.... to my untrained eye, and the eye of a couple of radiology/nursing friends, it would appear that there's lung metastasis. So now I get to wait until Friday and meet up with Doc M to talk about what's next.
On the plus side, I got tickets to take the kids up to my parents' Memorial Day Weekend so that they can do their regular summer trip. Great deal, too - $39/per person each way.
I also saw the most adorable thing Saturday night:

Now, to find the true amusement of this, you have to understand that, growing up, I was such a bookworm my parents would have to actually ground me from reading so that I would sleep at night! So to go into Al's room at 11 Saturday night and see that was just great!
Also, Tracie has convinced me to attempt something new - crocheted socks (that fit in shoes and aren't actually slippers!). She bought a book, and we got the sock yarn. So far, it seems to be going really well! I could be further along on mine, but I admit that the thought of the heel scares me a bit, so I kinda want to wait to start on that part when I'm not so tired (AKA brainless). We'll see, though. Here's some of the socky goodness:

Let's see, what else? Ahh, yes, something that pisses me off.
Why is it that smokers don't realize that their cigarette butts are litter? I mean, most of these people would never dream of throwing a napkin, cup, tissue or can out a window of a moving car, or in their front yard, but they have no problem tossing these all over the ground anywhere and everywhere:
Now how, I ask you, can you NOT see that as littering? I mean, seriously, it's disgusting! Add to that the fire risk, or the fact that there are small kids EVERYWHERE, and small kids pick things up and put them in their mouths, and, well, BLECH!!
So yeah, that's really been bothering me. To the point that I've been making comments to, about and around people when they toss their butts.
Okay, I think I'm done ranting for now.....
