 I have a lot of friends with varying beliefs or levels of belief. Those who know me well know where I stand on these beliefs - mine are very definite, but they're not necessarily conventional. I have a very live and let live attitude, and I think that everyone should be allowed to believe what makes their life better or happier, provided the beliefs don't cause anyone else harm.

Tonight I was watching the local news, and they featured a story about an Episcopal church that's breaking away from the local diocese because the diocese has become "too liberal." They claim that the diocese is violating the bible by not being conservative, and by standing behind gay clergy and same sex marriages.

It always cracks me up when I see or hear stories like this, not because I think that the predjudice against homosexuals is at all amusing, but because so many "Christians" use the bible as a platform to judge and persecute which, in my mind, is the exact opposite of what the bible preaches. I mean, I was taught that the bible was all about loving and acceptance. So the Episcopal church is trying to live the bible, and people get pissed off.

And this is one of the biggest reasons I don't prescribe to a particular denomination or church. Hypocrisy pisses me off.
