Christmas 2012

January 11, 2013

Random phone pics seem to be all we do these days, hmm maybe a new year’s resolution is in order!

Santa was scared to take Grant, expecting a stranger-danger baby. Not this kid! He loves strangers and just smiled at him.

Babies

December 19, 2012

Babies are fun! You can put ponytails in their hair and they have no clue.

Plus friends and family like to give them funny pacis. These lips he will tolerate

but he wanted nothing to do with his ‘stache! As soon as we put it in he was grabbing it to take it out.

Poor poor Grant. 😉

Thanksgiving 2012

December 10, 2012

Thanksgiving marked the start of our “Are we there yet?” phase within minutes of our road trip, complete with a request to turn around after an hour. But that was long forgotten once we arrived! There was a cousin to follow around and imitate,

early birthday celebrations,

and presents to try out.

Hey don’t forget about ME!

t14

Don’t worry, Grant was too busy eating to worry about what he might be missing elsewhere.

Santa even made a visit to the neighborhood one evening!

Kinsey was so nervous about what to ask Santa for that the only thing she could come up with was shoes. Our poor little child has to ask for shoes for Christmas! Grant, who has yet to meet a stranger, just smiled at Santa and tried to play with Mrs. Claus’s face.

Since the kids laughed in the face of sleep while at Grammy and Grampy’s, they both crashed as soon as we got in the car Sunday.  After 3 mornings of wake up calls before 6am I was the only one left to whine “Are we there yet?” on the drive home.

Fall Soccer

October 29, 2012

Kinsey has enjoyed yet another soccer season! She is very determined to get a few goals each game, it’s fun to watch her competitive side emerge.

Image

She’s also pretty fast and is good on defense too.

Grant usually stays awake for the games, but this past Saturday he couldn’t hold out any longer.

We are so proud of our little soccer star!

Football Games and Cousins

October 10, 2012

Kinsey was so excited about getting to watch her cousin Ryan play football this past Saturday. If you look closely, on the ground right behind Kinsey’s shoulder, you can see a bunny on a leash wearing a sweater. Only in the country!

Speaking of sports – can anyone find high-school-Lee in this pic?

First Game

October 1, 2012

We traveled south a few weeks ago so Lee and Grampy could go to the first A&M home game. The rest of us watched via TV in our Aggie gear.

Kinsey took a nap during the game, if you can’t tell by her hair and stoic expression.

Destin 2012

September 7, 2012

We sure did time it right for this year’s vacation! When we arrived in Destin it had been raining for 2 weeks, and then a few days after we left the heavy rain and wind from Hurricane Isaac hit. We did get one day of rain when we first arrived, but that didn’t stop most of us from enjoying the beach between showers.

Grant stayed inside with those of us who were waiting for the sun.

And then the rest of the week there was sun! We played in the pools, hot tub, and ocean. We made sand castles, tan lines and memories. We searched for crabs, chased sea gulls and jumped on sand castles in the evenings.

And Grant did a lot of napping! The sound of the ocean and the cool breeze put him to sleep within seconds a few times a day.

I think the highlight of our condo this year was the porch overlooking the ocean.  We had a huge outdoor patio area with table, chairs, loungers, and the most used of them all – the 4 rocking chairs! With it being a covered patio we could enjoy it in the rain and the sun as well. (And being that we are pansy Texans, on the rainy day we went across the street to the outlet mall and bought hoodies since it was chilly out there!). The porch was where Grant probably took the majority of his naps.

It seems like most families have pics in Destin wearing white, which I tried doing a different color of last year.  This year, after doing some online research, I realized there’s a reason people wear white on the beach – it looks the best! So we waited until early evening on one of our last night’s there and took the famous white pics.

Adios, Destin! Hopefully we’ll be back next year!
