Oregon B-day weekend

My birthday weekend, we went down to Salem, OR to visit some good friends. We stayed with Darren and Mona and their cute munchkins, Clinton and Doyle.
Saturday morning we went out for breakfast, my favorite meal to eat out, at a good down home restaurant. Amazing food like banana walnut stuffed french toast and chocolate chip pancakes. Of course, our waiter was very sweet and covered Clinton's pancakes in whip cream.

And Doyle loved his toast and jam.

We then went on a 'walk' to a surprise location...

Doyle loved waving to all the people on the ride before us.

Is it our turn yet?!

It was also the Iris fest. weekend so we stopped at the parade.

Even UPS got into the festivities!

We also stopped at an iris farm. The irises were gorgeous but SO hard to photograph.

On the way home, we took a cute ferry across a very fast swollen river. Only 9 cars could fit at a time.

We took a walk in the woods before dinner. Darren and Mona live at the top of a hill, overlooking a whole valley...it's breath taking (see panorama picture below, taken from their deck).

It was a wonderful weekend. We saw Jason and Sarah, Brandon and Nicole, Jeff and Jennica, Ron and Cheryl at a lunch at Darren and Mona's on Sunday afternoon and then so many more at gospel meeting that evening.

Brian has crossed over...

Brian finally got his bike! Ever since the Dominican, he's been REALLY wanting a scooter. So he found this one on Craig's List on Saturday night, sent them an e-mail, we got a call at about 1:30 on Sunday after noon, and with in 20 minutes, we were on our way to Oak Harbor (1 1/2 hour drive) to get his coveted bike. Definitely like a kid with a new toy...
It will be his new mode of transportation to work and we'll use it for short trips...like going to mom and dad's on Bainbridge. Oh, and we got matching helmets...looky out!
