My name is Kristen and I am a Facebookoholic. I know that is my reason for not blogging, although I long to blog. I know it means that my net book is in my lap during the babies nap time and while we watch the "Goodnight Show" before bed. I'm in trouble, self imposed trouble. I don't feel I can justify the time or undone chores any longer. What does that mean, really? Nothing drastic, just changing my focus from Facebooking to Blogging, for now. I also would like to master my camera, backup the photos on my computer, start digital scrap booking . . . reading, keeping up with my household chores, etc.
I realized again today that Facebook was overtaking my life. I found a dear friend from 20 years ago and I have been obsessed with the contact for the past 24 hours. I feel guilty for obsessing, I am a grown woman and shouldn't obsess. It's made me a little giddy today. It has stirred up feelings that must have been there 20 years ago. I have to figure out where to put them now. It is not a bad thing, finding this friend, it's a very good thing, this is a very good, responsible, sweet, fun friend. I just need to fast forward the relationship 20 years so it has an appropriate place in my heart.

When Hand-Me-Downs Go Bad
Without hesitation my 3 year old son has inherited his older brother's hand-me-downs. They are pretty "posh", considering we were only shopping for one child at the current hand-me-down size. I can't think of anything I have bought Malcolm new in the past two seasons. Once Malcolm has outgrown them, they are passed down to a younger cousin who lives in Arizona. Although, not quite so posh . . . sorry Logan!

So, who's this cute little snow bunny in the navy blue snow pants, coat and camouflage boots? The adorable Arizona cousin? Even though he isn't quite two, he's a tank, so it could be. All cozy and warm in this winter's outfit.

Nope, it's Baby Girl Lillie. Does she seem just a little bitter? Maybe it's the boots that are almost 3 sizes too big or the coat a size too large. Couldn't be that it was actually Malcolm's Winter 2008 ensemble, could it? Heck, what do I do? Cousin in Arizona doesn't need it, Malcolm probably only wore the boots and pants 4 times. Praying this will never be "that one thing" I did to ruin her childhood. Blue doesn't have to be exclusively a boys color. Navy blue is the color of our dear Aggies. Anyone seen a winter coat bedazzled?

Oh yeah, she's all excited about the suggestion of bedazzling the perfectly blue outfit! Maybe a little bling, some feathers, pom-poms . . . oh the transformation we could create! Guess there is a trip to the craft store in the near future.
And here, a preview of her next ensemble, Winter 2011 or so!

Things that go Bump!
Tragedy happened, late Friday morning. I've held my breath with Lillie's balance/walking issues and the amount of tumbles she has everyday, funny thing is she wasn't even walking or standing for that matter. Strange how these types of things just happen, usually at the most unexpected times.
She was kneeling on a chair at the table, I was behind the kitchen island at the sink. All I heard was a bump, nothing new with her, and then scream/cry. As I walked towards the table I saw she was still kneeling, but more in a face-down, laid-out position on the chair. As I turned her over to comfort her I saw the blood oozing from between her fingers, needless to say I sort of freaked - after all this was my baby girl!
I managed to clean-up the blood, it didn't bleed for much more than the initial gush. Then I was able to assess the cut. My dad told me, the first time Jesse fell and cut open the back of his head, that if you have to question whether or not stitches are needed, most likely they are. If this cut would have been on one of the boys I probably would have slapped some antibiotic & band-aid on and called it good. They would have ended up with a manly scar, one of those tough-guy, proof-of-battle markings.
SINCE this was my girl I knew we needed professional help to minimize the scarring. I had everyone loaded in the van and on our way to InstaCare in just a few minutes - called Bubba to meet me and pick-up the boys, although they wanted to watch over their little sister I knew they would just end up causing chaos.

Lillie was a trooper, the Doctor did a fabulous job stitching her up - 6 stitches in all. I felt bad for the nurse who had to hold Lillie's head still, by the end her arms where shaking. I had to lean on Lillie's legs, torso and arms that were bound to her sides with a folded sheet. Needless to say, she was a bit upset with us after, but a sucker made her quickly forget. Not to mention she fell asleep immediately upon returning home - she was so exhausted from the whole ordeal!

Five days later we returned to InstaCare to have the stitches removed and the scar isn't much to notice, thank goodness! Glad we've gotten this one out of the way!

Seeing Green . . . Finally!
We left on our wonderful vacation with this much done on our yard.

We came back to it being completed - we weren't sure if it would be dry enough to get sod and lay it with all rain. Although it's not ready to really play on, the kids love it AND I love the fact there isn't a massive expanse of dirt and possible mud!

It really is the little things that make all the difference.

Memorial Day Walk
So, weather was near perfect - breezy, not too hot, clear blue sky and I decided we should go on a walk around Oquirrh Lake. I packed up the red wagon with red licorice, bottles of water - diet pepsi & diet mt. dew for the adults, cameras and we set out.

Jesse rode his scooter, Lillie rode in the wagon, Malcolm chose to alternate between walking and riding in the wagon. My sister Chelle, who was visiting from North Logan and I, pulled, carried and herded the little ones.

I have no idea how far we walked, it took us pretty much 2 hours. Chelle got a nice sunburn, oops! Kids were pretty exhausted afterwards, lets just say they went to bed nicely.

Once again, I love where we live and the fact this is just a few blocks away!

Sign of the Season - Summer Haircuts!
This is one of my favorites times of the year! It's becoming a tradition, a rite of passage for summer. I was so ready for these cuts this year. Malcolm in particular was a little hesitant. He really wanted our other favorite stylist, Sara, to cut his hair. Kathleen is a long-time, dear friend and she currently is working in Draper, it was most convenient.
I love Jesse's curls and am just a titch sad to see them go. Really glad I don't have to tackle him to comb through them though!
Malcolm has extremely curly hair, he loves to play with the curls as he is trying to go to sleep. Despite the sweetness of that, it's a pain for me and Malcolm since Lillie pulls his hair as a defense mechanism.
Whoo-hoo! Don't they look handsome, needing just a touch of sun on their pale scalps! Lillie shyly posing with Kathleen, she couldn't be outdone! Thanks Kathleen!

Pre-Open House - Oquirrh Mountain Temple
Our Stake was invited to view the Oquirrh Mountain Temple on Saturday, 23rd May.
I had a prior engagement, so Bubba took the opportunity to take the kids. They enjoyed it from what they told me later.
I have a hard time telling it from the pictures though, nothing like taking pictures with the sunshine directly in one's eyes!
Oh, and Jesse didn't listen to me and picked out the wrong shirt - I'm almost a freak about color coordinating my kids on special occasions!
My Mini-Vacay
Don't I look thrilled! Self-portrait, driving to good ol' Cache Valley for a me-get-away. Dinner with dear friends, after their fabulous haircuts.
Sleeping over at my sweet sister's house; and with whom I got to watch SYTYCD until 2AM! But, oh so nice to sleep in until 730AM! ;)
Since we weren't making another trip to Logan on Memorial Day this year, Chelle and I took flowers to the cemetary.
This is our maternal grandpa's grave - he was a quiet, spiritual, powerful man. We always talk about how much we miss the little things that only he did.
The names of all 14 of my grandparents' children, most stillborn, only 8 made it to adulthood.
Our paternal grandparents' grave. We had quite the time trying to get the self-timer on my camera to work, thank goodness there was only a handful of people to see our silliness.
Happy 6th Birthday, Jesse!
