Conversations with my 8 year old
Yesterday my 8 year old told me that he asked his friend if he would like to spend the night on Friday. The boy said,"Yea, we can hang out." My son said,"No, I am asking you to spend the night." The boy repeated that they could hang out. J finally said,"Why are y ou talking like that?" His buddy told him, "I am trying to sound cool because the new girl is listening."
I am getting a look at the male species from a point of view I have never had before. It is quite entertaining and interesting and it starts young.

Christmas and New Year's Day
We had a great time celebrating Christmas with Mema, Brandy and her kids. We sure wish Pops could have come too but we got to talk to him on the phone.
New Year's was fun too! We got together with some of our new neighbors and talked and laughed. Kam felt pretty big because the older girls got together at one house while the rest of were at another house. There are only about 15 houses in our neighborhood. At 12:15am baby K (who is now 2)decided to tell everyone to start dancing. She had all of the neighbors, men and women, dancing and if they stopped she would say, "'mon!!" In other words, "come on!" If any of you have been around baby K you know that she runs the show. She is very bossy and in most cases gets everyone to do as she says. I guess it pays to be cute.

Trying to Make a Comeback
I am going to give blogging another try. It is amazing how busy we have been as a family. We sold our house in Oklahoma in April 2012 and the kids and I moved into a hotel. We lived there for a month. Please Lord, help us find alternatives to that next time. Our son turned 8 and we had a swimming party for him in May. The same month we went to Dumas to stay with my mom for 3 weeks. We intended to stay with her the entire summer, but my 10 year old's soccer team requested she be at practice on July 1. We moved in with my husband's parents for the rest of the summer. July 7 our precious baby turned 2. She is so wonderful, fun, and energetic. Baby K loved being the center of attention on her birthday and felt like a princess. In August, our oldest turned 10. Our house was ready in August and the kids started school 3 days later. Our oldest is now in Middle School and has flourished. K plays soccer (practices 3 days a week and games 2 days a week.) She also was selected Rock Star of her Middle School in October and tried out for a play in November. The performance will be in February and she had to sing a solo and memorize a one minute monologue for the audition. Our son is making great grades and has made so many friends. In fact, one boy also moved here from Okalahoma and moved into our neighborhood. J is also playing basketball. Baby K has decided she is a climber. She held on to the spindles and walked out on the 2 inch ledge on our stairs. She was about 8-10 feet in the air with nothing but stairs under her. J noticed and screamed for us. I got there and could not decide whether to run upstairs and pull her over the rail or stand under her and catch her if she fell. Fortunately B came in soon and could reach up and grab her by standing on the stairs. A few weeks later baby K was climbing into her stroller and the brakes weren't on so it rolled out from under her. She fell backward and hit her head on the kitchen island. She had to get a staple put in her head. It is hard to blieve that B has been with his new company nearly a year now. He loves his job and feels that he made the right move. That wraps up our crazy, busy year. I hope and pray that all of our family and friends are happy and healthy and loving this wonderful time of year where we celebrate our Savior, Jesus!

December 2011
So much going on! As most of you know B got a job offer in Dallas and he feels that he should take the position. Our house is now on the market and we put our land for sale yesterday. B starts his new job on Dec. 27 and the kids and I will stay here until the house sells. Both kids initially said they wanted to move. I asked J what he thought that meant and he said he thought we would come back to Oklahoma every two weeks to visit. I explained that we wouldn't be able to come back that often and he decided he didn't want to move. Tonight K was nearly crying and said she couldn't stop thinking about all of her friends and how much she is going to miss them. We will more than likely live in a rental house and build a house. The logistics of it all are so overwhelming at the moment but I know that it will all work out and I have to take it day by day. Please pray for a smooth transition for our family.

Soccer Tournament
A week ago I took both girls to a soccer tournament in Oklahoma City. K played in a tournament and the girls made it to the finals. With a few minutes left in the game a girl on the other team was throwing the ball in and she lifted her foot which is an illegal play. The two line judges called it but the main referee didn't and the other team went in to score. The line judges explained to the referee what had happened and he said he didn't care, he was counting the point. Within a minute or two he called the game. The coach on the other team showed exceptional sportsmanship by refusing the point. He said he didn't want to win on an illegal play. So without the point the score was 0-0 and we went into overtime. At the end of overtime the score was yet again 0-0. Each team was given 5 penalty kicks and whichever team had the most points was the winner. K. was first up and made her kick but her team ended up losing 0-1. It was a very emotional game but it was fun to watch the girls work so hard.

The Plan

I found a note in K's room that she had written. One side says, "Keep one sock to not wash for April Fools". The other side reads, "Tell everyone your stomach is hurting then say, 'I'm going to be sick' have Kristen come with you to an empty seat. Act like you are throwing up and have Kristen say, 'GROSS!!' and pull the sock out and it will stink. Then say, 'April Fools!'"
She has quite the plan going already and I have to keep a stinky sock in my house from now until April. Looks like I need to stock up on Febreeze for her bedroom.

Sunday's Soccer Game
Woohoo!! We had another win Sunday. It was a very exciting game. K's team played a team a year older than them and we won 2-0. K scored one goal and played great. She got punched by a girl my size. The girl looked like she was aiming for her face but missed and hit her in the neck. The referee should have kicked her out of the game but didn't and really didn't even reprimand her. He did call the foul but that was the extent of her trouble. Luckily K just jumped back up and claims she gave the girl a look. She thought the girl was afraid of her after that but I have my doubts.
