December 2011

So much going on! As most of you know B got a job offer in Dallas and he feels that he should take the position. Our house is now on the market and we put our land for sale yesterday. B starts his new job on Dec. 27 and the kids and I will stay here until the house sells. Both kids initially said they wanted to move. I asked J what he thought that meant and he said he thought we would come back to Oklahoma every two weeks to visit. I explained that we wouldn't be able to come back that often and he decided he didn't want to move. Tonight K was nearly crying and said she couldn't stop thinking about all of her friends and how much she is going to miss them. We will more than likely live in a rental house and build a house. The logistics of it all are so overwhelming at the moment but I know that it will all work out and I have to take it day by day. Please pray for a smooth transition for our family.

Soccer Tournament

A week ago I took both girls to a soccer tournament in Oklahoma City. K played in a tournament and the girls made it to the finals. With a few minutes left in the game a girl on the other team was throwing the ball in and she lifted her foot which is an illegal play. The two line judges called it but the main referee didn't and the other team went in to score. The line judges explained to the referee what had happened and he said he didn't care, he was counting the point. Within a minute or two he called the game. The coach on the other team showed exceptional sportsmanship by refusing the point. He said he didn't want to win on an illegal play. So without the point the score was 0-0 and we went into overtime. At the end of overtime the score was yet again 0-0. Each team was given 5 penalty kicks and whichever team had the most points was the winner. K. was first up and made her kick but her team ended up losing 0-1. It was a very emotional game but it was fun to watch the girls work so hard.

The Plan

Image
I found a note in K's room that she had written. One side says, "Keep one sock to not wash for April Fools". The other side reads, "Tell everyone your stomach is hurting then say, 'I'm going to be sick' have Kristen come with you to an empty seat. Act like you are throwing up and have Kristen say, 'GROSS!!' and pull the sock out and it will stink. Then say, 'April Fools!'"

She has quite the plan going already and I have to keep a stinky sock in my house from now until April. Looks like I need to stock up on Febreeze for her bedroom.

Sunday's Soccer Game

Woohoo!! We had another win Sunday. It was a very exciting game. K's team played a team a year older than them and we won 2-0. K scored one goal and played great. She got punched by a girl my size. The girl looked like she was aiming for her face but missed and hit her in the neck. The referee should have kicked her out of the game but didn't and really didn't even reprimand her. He did call the foul but that was the extent of her trouble. Luckily K just jumped back up and claims she gave the girl a look. She thought the girl was afraid of her after that but I have my doubts.

Soccer has started

Soccer has begun and so far it is going great. K. had a scrimmage 2 days ago and she played great. The girls beat the boys team 2-1 and K scored one of the goals. Last night she had another scrimmage and her team played a girls team that is one year older and K's team won that game 4-1. K made two goals in that game. Tonight she has another scrimmage against the boy's team. The boys may be ready for us this time. I think the dads were a little upset that their boys lost to a girl's team.

Baby K's First Haircut

Baby K had very long hair, in fact, it was half way down her back. She was born with long hair. It was time for a haircut though and yesterday we took her in and she got it cut. She was 14 months old yesterday. Here is a before and after picture.

Summer 2011

This summer has flown by. We have traveled to Dumas, southern Oklahoma to a cabin and we went to Chickasha for a baseball tournament. The kids took swimming lessons and did great! We celebrated baby K's first birthday. She is such a wonderful baby. We also had a family birthday party for big sister and will have her friend party this Friday. Now it is time to prepare for school which starts in 8 days.
After a drought this summer we started getting rain yesterday and it stormed today too. Thank you God for the rain.
Soccer starts this week and K is gearing up for it even though she played in a tournament in July and hasn't had too much time off.
I know this is a very brief summary of our summer but hopefully I will have more time to blog this fall.

J's Journal

J brought home his journal for the end of school and I was flipping through the pages. He is quite the character. One posting said he was going to drive a convertible motorcycle limousine and have a cheerleader girlfriend.

End of Soccer Season

K had her last game yesterday. They ended the season with a big win. The score was 6-0 and she scored one goal and had an assist. I just love watching her play. She really loves the sport. We have a friend who is considering not playing next year and K asked her how she could even consider that since it is such a great sport.

The Rapture

With all the buzz about when the rapture was going to take place our family got into a discussion. J said, "So we all go to heaven and when we get there we get to see our family. Well, I want to see baby K's twin." "What if other family comes up to me do I just yell, 'Sorry, coming through I am not looking for you?'" I had to giggle at the thought. He then started thinking about all the people in heaven with the same names. He asked,"what if I yell, 'hey, Emily' and all these Emily's start coming toward me?"
Obviously he wasn't too concerned with all rapture talk, but what to do when you actually get to heaven is another story.

More J funnies

J is always saying things that make us laugh. Just a few things we got a laugh about while on vacation:
Look! That restaurant is called Naked Pizza. I guess it forgot it's cheese.

Mom, if aliens were real you would be the best mom in outer space.

Look at the BIG church. Some BIG Christians must go there.

This is one he said since we have been home:
Today at school Bryce and I were comparing our muscles. Mine are a little bigger than his. I need to lift weights tonight so when I go to school tomorrow mine are a lot bigger than his. He lifts weights for a few minutes and says, "Wow, look how much bigger they are!" I explained that he needed to eat protein to make muscles so he was eating dinner and he said, "Did you notice I am chewing on my left side? That is because my left muscle isn't as big as my right one and the protein needs to go to my left muscle."

Funny Story

Image
When mom told my sister that she was going to San Diego for Spring Break my sister told her not to meet a man and move there. Mom and I were joking around and said we should tell my sis that she did meet a surfer dude and he is really hot. Then it got really funny when we were at Lego Land and there was a surfer guy made of legos so we had to get a picture of mom with him. So, here is mom and her man!

Finally!!!

Yes, I am slow. I am finally posting about our Spring Break vacation to San Diego. We had a really good time. My mom was able to join us and we got to hang out with her at Lego Land, the San Diego Zoo and the beach. We ate at so many good restaurants. We were all amazed at how many different things that could be made of legos. The San Diego Zoo was equally amazing. I could not help but be in awe of the wonderful Lord that created all of the creatures we saw. Oh! I didn't mention the workout you get at Lego Land and the zoo. We walked from 4-6 hours at each place.

K wants a surprise baby

I have had the birds and the bees talk with K. She said it is just gross. She also informed me that she was not ever doing that so she would have to adopt OR she could have a surprise baby like I did this past summer when I had baby K. Well, I had to explain that surprise babies come from the same place as planned babies. She said, "Oh, that stuff isn't stored inside of you and you are just surprised when it makes a baby?"

Class Project

When I was at J's class for the Valentine's party his teacher announced they were going to write reports on a past president or a first lady. The teacher suggested they dress up as that person. J looked at me and in excitement said, "Mom, I want to do my report on Michelle Obama!" The adults in the class laughed really hard at the thought of him dressed up as a black woman.

Our sweet K is 6 months old. She is growing so fast and is so fun. As you will be able to tell from the pictures she is a big girl. She started rolling over in December and started waving (when she is in the mood) in January. We love holding her and playing with her so much!
