Summer's nearly over!

It feels like it's just begun, our garden is doing very well.... who knew grass would grow so well everywhere we didn't want it too?.... The zucchini are taking over the planet, it's coming out our ears and I can't sneak it into any more meals without my family declaring war on me. Things were going great with our curbing project outside until we got detoured when A.J had a monster poop that clogged the upstairs toilet and flooded everywhere! On came a new and unexpected project. Granted our bathroom was fully carpeted and we wanted to tile it anyway, now we have the added benefit of insurance paying for it~ can't really be too mad at the kid when it's turning out so well :)Image
I almost didn't get a picture of the great wallpaper before taking it all down. Thanks Amanda and Kaylee for your hard days work helping scrape it all off! Image
Hunter and Colby actually loved this demolition part of the project, take after their dad for that! Had to tear out all the subfloor and carpet tacks around the perimeter of the room.
ImageClint and Jeremy taking the claw foot tub out, didn't realize it was sooooo heavy!

ImageDoesn't everybody have a giant tub in their living room? When we priced new feet for it, wanting to update the gold to a brushed nickle we almost had a heart attack at the prices.... so decided to have the old feet re-plated and I'm pretty happy with the outcome. Image So where the tub sat there was just a little wooden shelf for shampoo's and what-not, here's a before shot where the tub sits
Image And here's a new wall/shelf that Clint built that will be tiled over and be a great little ledge all around the tub for all our soaps and 'stuff'.
Image Here's a before shot of the sinks, which we only ever use one so we're downsizing to just the one and I'll get more counter space for my 'staging area' (glorified make-up counter)

Image I painted the cupboards, going for a off-white antique look and I want to do the counter top a dark wood (that's been ordered and we're still waiting for it)
Image

Image Got the tile floor in, sorry it's a dirty picture I just realized I didn't have one of the new floor and just went to snap one real quick while Clint's in there working on putting in a new medicine cabinet.

Image This was supposed to be an easy install on the medicine cabinet/mirror. But of course nothing is ever easy around here! Notice the pipe running up the middle? It's for a vent I guess for the sink drain?....

Image Here's Clint (silently cursing) trying to figure out what to do about this pipe....

Image Clint's new motto? 'When in doubt, cut it out!"

Image
What the??? Another freakin' pipe.....

ImageDoes that hole look a little big to you? My fingers are crossed right now, as they have to be while we finish this 'little' project up..... Clint's off to Home Depot and I need to go clean up some drywall. Stay tuned, more pictures to come!

Finished!!

Remember this?

Image
Image

Stripped down and painted a bright barn red..... Clint kept saying "It's a very big, very red piece of furniture.... I just don't know how it's going to look..."

So after a few weeks of painting, sanding, painting, sanding, glazing and finally having a bar-b-q over at our house and putting a couple of nephews to work..... our 'entertainment' area went from this~Image

Image(I almost forgot to take my before picture of this area, so I had already cleared out all of Clint's antlers.... but you get the main idea)

To this!!~Image

ImageImageI'm not done decorating this area, or room (not done by a long shot!) But it's starting to not look like a college kid decorated for me.... I threw the antlers on for Clint, and it worked because he likes it! I'm loving it so far, all the video and stereo equipment fits great and I can finally unpack all our c.d's (yes most of them from the 90's) and movies~ LOTS of hidden storage which I love! Now I need to get some new speakers to fit in the sides and maybe sell our old ones? Whole project cost under $30! Remember I got the cabinet for free, more like if you buy the house~ you have to figure out what to do with all the contents no one else wants.... MUCH better than spending $300-$400 on a t.v stand, right?! On to the next project...... :)

Image Inspiration

All of my blog hopping and researching about crafts has gotten my craft juices flowing.... I'm not a professional by any means but I'm having fun trying to 're-create' something~ We have this old 8-track/record player/ radio cabinet that has been sitting in the garage since we moved in. I tried selling it, then tried giving it away for free on the Internet with no luck. I even called to donate it and they denied me saying it's too big for them! The dang cabinet is 8 feet long!! Yikes right?! So other than taking it to the dumps I've been stuck with it, putting junk on it, and looking and looking at it thinking I could do SOMETHING with it!

At Christmas we got a big flat screen t.v. The cabinets for these things are well over $300 just to set your t.v and electronics on! I just can't do it, just can't spend that kind of money on that! Sooooooo my idea for converting this radio cabinet has been stewing for months!Image

See how the doors slide for the open space behind them? Do you just love the fabric? Ha, neither do I~ I'm still trying to figure out what kind of speakers I will replace the ones with that are now behind the fabric, ours are too big.

ImageImage

ImageAll gutted out! I'm getting excited now, and that's all the pictures I'm showing you now.... until it's done! Think I'm up in the night with this? So does my husband, and my kids, and my father-in-law,....................

Spring events

Wow has it really been so long since I've posted on my blog? So much has been happening! My niece came home from serving her mission in Iowa/Nebraska~ What a great weekend that was spending it with my family!
ImageI won't bore you with all the pictures, and there are a LOT of pictures..... So so so so great to have Brooke home! I had so much fun with my sister making shirts, signs, and just planning a great welcome home party~

Image Here's all of my sister's kids, aren't they the cutest? I can't believe how grown up they all are getting! Three in college starting this summer~ WoW right?! I'm so very proud them~

ImageHere's my sis, doesn't it just make you tear right up with her? We all cried, laughed, loved!!!

ImageMy boys, in their dress clothes.... but still their same ole' goofy self's! There was a moment in church, that Colby laughed out loud during the prayer.... who was he sitting by you ask...? None other than his father!! We had thought by sitting a parent in between kids we would have no problems.... guess we just chose the wrong parent..... :)

Image This was Brooke and Kensley's first time meeting each other, I think Kensley was born the week after Brooke left...

Image Easter came and went, we went to my mom's work for our favorite egg hunt with Amanda and her boys. A.J found a speacial egg and got a huge sports basket for a prize, so did Kensley with huge basket for her! Lucky kids~

Image We were lucky enough to have a break in the spring rains for a few hours to have bar-b-que at our house~

Image
Clint's grandpa got brought over, it was great having him over at the house.
Image
The kids had a huge egg hunt out in the back field, with some 'confetti' eggs mixed in.... It was great fun to get everyone with the confetti~
Image
Now on to home projects, Clint and I got ourselves our mothers day/fathers day/ birthday/ christmas gift early.... we got curbing around the entire house! I love it, I will get some better pictures soon when it's all done and has rocks inside of it too....

Image A.J's 6! Happy Birthday~

Can't believe my baby is six years old, this will by my last year with a kindergartner....last little guy who wants me to tuck him in still...last baby that still needs help tying his shoes.... last one who's not embarrassed to yell "Love you mom" as he's getting on the bus....

They grow up too fast don't they?

Image
A.J wanted everything to revolve around sports this year, thanks to his cousin Juli he got this great basketball cake with the Jazz bear! It was really fantastic, thanks Juli!
