Merry Christmas!

I have the cutest little boys on the planet.

This year for Christmas I have so many things to be thankful for. One of these things has a name and it is Liam. This little boy is in my ward, and as I am currently the Primary President I have the unique opportunity of spending every Sunday with this special little boy. In the picture you would never be able to tell all that he has been through this past few months. He has a not so rare form of brain cancer that has lead to several surgeries, radiation, recurrence and more. This poor little man has been through more than I can even imagine, yet he is always smiling and happy. They found out on Thanksgiving that it is back and even grew through radiation treatments, which is not a good thing. So instead of more cards, of which he has personally said he hates after getting so many, but really, what kid likes cards, we decided to get the whole primary involved and each class colored a fabric square and came up with the quilt below. I hope it brings him comfort and I hope that he knows how loved he truly is. Merry Christmas to everyone, and I hope you know how much we love you all.

Oregon State Fair ’08

Image Image

I’m pretty sure Stockton had the best time of his life on these rides. He rode on at least 10 different rides that whipped, spun, bounced and jostled him until he passed out in the car ride home. Who knew how much fun the state fair really could be!! Mommy went for fair food……..

Gabe was happy with his toes.

Karin Louise Klingler

1947 ~ 2008

Karin Louise Klingler was born March 6, 1947 in Kalispell, Montana and died August 12, 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah, with her three children at her side. She was the first daughter of Earl Newell Klingler and Irene Robinson Klingler. She grew up near many extended family, attended Kalispell schools, graduated from FCHS in 1965, and then attended Brigham Young University. She worked at Brigham Young University for 40 years, (8 1/2 years in the Library, 1 year in the Associate Academic Vice President’s Office, and 30+ years in the Office of the General Counsel). During those years, she raised her three children in Provo and Orem and has delighted in being close to them and her eight grandchildren. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities, but mostly in Relief Society. She enjoyed her association in her ward and neighborhood and appreciated the friendships made there.

She is survived by her mother, Irene Klingler of Kalispell, Montana; her 2 brothers, Steven (Yolanda) Klingler of Mesa, Arizona, and Kenneth (Janis) Klingler of Mesa, Arizona; and 2 sisters, Marilyn (Jerry) Hamblin of Clearfield, Utah, and Jeannie (Mike) Johnson of West Bountiful, Utah; her children Melisa (Greg) Roberts of Salt Lake City, Utah, Kimberly (Dave) Vincent of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Travis (Stacie) Orr of Sherwood, Oregon; her eight grandchildren, Jacob Roberts, Andrew Vincent, Ashley Roberts, Allison Vincent, Emily Roberts, Seth Roberts, Stockton Orr, and Gabriel Orr; and many others that called her mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

She was grateful for the kind and competent care she received from her physicians over a 24+ year period and the numerous medical advances made in cancer treatment which allowed her many additional good years of life. She enjoyed her association with other cancer survivors who inspired her to thrive. She loved the many years she had with family and friends and looks forward to an eternal association with them thanks to the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

A memorial service will be held in the Orem Utah Stonewood Stake Center, 450 South 100 West, at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 16, 2008. Online condolences may be sent to the family at: http://www.holbrookmortuary.com

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation on Karin’s behalf to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

I just wanted to show you the 100 mile distance my husband has committed to race in order to benefit cancer research. I know he feels very strongly that we can help in the fight against cancer, so in case you haven’t donated and still have something extra to give (I know times are tight for a lot of people) please scroll down and view my previous post about where to donate. Thank you again to all who donated so far. It means the world to us!!!

My Cheering Leader!

It was quite the experience. I will most likely do another one this summer just so I can prove to myself that I can do better, because all I can say is I finished this one. The last minute of it makes it all worth it, either because you know you are almost done, or because so many people are there to cheer you on. That part was pretty cool! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Dean for caring for our children. That by far is more challenging, he he.

We took a quick 3 hour trip all the way up to Seattle, WA to watch the Mariners win a pretty cool baseball game. Grandma Vickie was so kind to sit in the back with the kids and entertain them the whole way there and back. I suppose all mothers gain patience this way. He He. Both boys enjoyed the game, yet both managed to sleep through a good portion of it. Don’t ask me how they do it with all the noise. I’m just jealous they can!! HA! We really did have a great time. Thank You!!
