- Let's fix college football with common sense - by Louisiana governor Jeff Landry.
- Don Surber on Monroe crossing the Delaware. Some history I was not aware of. (HT Cultural Offering)
- Rob Henderson: Lesson's I learned from Thomas Sowell's memoir.
- Here's why Pritzker should celebrate the Supreme Court ruling on the National Guard.
Was having these thoughts anyway so figured might as well jot them down and share on Substack.

There should be a name for the week after Christmas Day but before New Year's. How about Airport Week? Many are traveling, some drink at odd hours (like many do just because there's a random bowl on at 10:00 AM), and what you eat seems to have no rules (like at an airport people eat whatever is handy which in most cases is leftovers and too many desserts). Let Dry January and New Year's resolution diets start next week - now it's Airport Week!

Some pre-Christmas college football thoughts to maybe ready you for the next round of the playoffs.
Was having these thoughts anyway so figure may as well just jot them down.

Last night I turned the channel with the Bruins losing to the Candadiens 5-2 in the 3rd period. I changed to John Wayne's last movie The Shootist which still had about a 3rd to go. Couldn't help but notice that the gravestone JB Book's ordered had his age as 58 if you did the math. That seemed awfully young in today's years so I looked it up - John Wayne died 3-years after the movie at age 72 which would have made him 69 when The Shootist was released. For comparison sake - Tom Cruise is 63-years old but can you picture a comparingly aged Wayne doing his own stunts in Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning? We live in a different time.

More stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.
- The invention of "climate risk" - politically brilliant but fatally flawed.
- The real Watergate scandal. Reminder that the screenplay to All the President's Men was written by William Goldman (who was not exactly known for any documentaries). (HT Execupundit)
- How the Chiefs landed perhaps the most lopsided deal in NFL history. Great googly-moogly.
- From the archives: the origin of the use of "om" in meditation.
Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.
- It's time to affirm that character is greater than color. Agree but wasn't reverse discrimination already ruled illegal by the Supreme Court?
- Sponsoring an immigrant has financial repercussions. And the bills are coming due.
- Kevin Kelly: The Oil and Water Planet. Some may see this as an anti-oil post but I view it as a pro nuclear power argument. Water is for drinking.

Sorry this morning's offering was a little late this today. Went to a holiday party last night and was making rather merry. Slept in this morning and am now praying to the god of hangovers.

Also have lots of thoughts on the college football world, the Brown University shooter, and the fraud in Minnesota but probably will have separate posts on each subject later if I have the time. Now it's time to take out the trash - the actual trash not Tim Walz and Ilhan Omar.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.
- Morgan Housel: The Quest of the Simple Life. Good life advice on happiness and money.
- Peter Attia: There's no age limit to living a full and happy life. "Throughout our practice and content, we follow the guiding principle that the goal of living longer must go hand-in-hand with the goal of living well through all those extra years."
- Forgot Lethal Weapon was a Christmas movie too!
- Are we losing the art of storytelling? Clips of an actor or musician on Johnny Carson or Dick Cavett continue to be watched but when's the last time you heard anyone tell a captivating story on late night TV? That's a problem.

New England takes on Baltimore tonight on Sunday Night Football on NBC. The key word is NBC since I have Fubo and for some reason they no longer carry any NBC affiliated channels because the rights costs and the channels were not renewed. That means I'll need to go out to a bar to watch the game. Oh the cross I have to bear.
