New Posts
Okay so I am now caught up from June 2009 until August 2009. Two days and three months. Look at me go. Hopefully September will be tomorrow:)
Blogging...
So it was Brock's birth that did me in. In blogging that is. I was all caught up and then he was born and I would slowly write a post here or there but never posted them because I wanted them all be in chronological order and writing about his birth always was a stumbling block for me. Time passed and here we are over a year later and my sweet hubby says it's time to post what I have and move on. So here I go. Welcome the Larsons back to the blogging world.

Bathroom Remodel
Our toilet was getting old so I figured we would want to replace it with a water-efficient toilet. And while I was at it, I thought I would try my hand at replacing the stained linoleum and put in some tile. It would be my first time putting in tile, but really, how hard could it be? Turns out, it just takes time and if you screw anything up, then you have to shut off the water for a whole day and pay a plumber $240 to come fix it on a Saturday (pipe in the wall was leaking water). After all that, and a week later, I ended up getting it all done and it looks pretty good. But I could have just replaced the toilet and been just as happy since it is a small bathroom and the bathroom mats cover most of the area anyway. I guess I did get some experience, and that is worth the $500 that went into it right?

There were 4 layers of linoleum
Do you see the sacred picture of some guy behind the wallpaper? We really didn't draw this. I would say we should make a shrine in this room now, but I think the toilet takes care of that.

Stung by a Stingray

I told myself this would be the summer I learned to surf. I know too many people who can't get enough of it, so I figure there has got to be something special about it. I bought a big blue costco longboard, a couple of wetsuits, and I was ready to go. Then we had a baby and we got busy and I didn't go out much. 4 Weeks ago I went out for the first time. I'm still not very good but I did manage to catch a few waves. After catching a wave, I was in really shallow water and I felt like it would be much faster to just walk the surfboard out to bigger waves. As I looked around, I noticed that none of the other surfers were walking back like me. They all jumped back on their boards as soon as they could and swam back out to the waves. Right as I was thinking about this I stepped on something squishy, and then it got me. I felt a burning sharp sting in my right foot. It was a stingray! After the initial shock, the pain really wasn't that bad. I figured I should get out though and go home and call a doctor or something. It was bleeding pretty bad and was hurting more every minute. By the time I got home it was seriously painful. It turns out that hot water breaks up the poison and eases the pain perfectly. After a couple of hours, the pain was gone and that was that. But can you believe it, a stingray? Crazy! I have been surfing a couple more times and you bet I always get back on my board right away now.

PS Although most of the previous posts were by me (Heather) in my last days of pregnancy nesting craziness, this actually happened to Jacoby! I have yet to ever try surfing:)
