The Storm before the Calm!

For whatever reason I am having a terrible time posting to my blog!  I will leave you with the photo of what I am calling the Storm before the Calm.  I have gotten out most of my Christmas decorations so that I can go through them and weed out some I don't like and fix some that are broken and then start decorating!   I have been working a little each evening since Sunday and haven't even made a dent!

Image
Crazy right!!???!!  It is my intent to have everything put up, even the Christmas trees by November 22, when my craft club will meet at my house again.  Doable, right?  I believe in positive thinking!
Well, I had 3 other photos to show you, but again it's not letting me post anymore photos!
ARGHHHHHHH!

Happy Humpday!

Blessings

I will be back when I can figure out what is going on with this computer!

Outdoor Halloween Decor and More estate sale goodies!

Good Thursday Morning!  I have tried to write a post all week but have been way too busy!

Do you decorate outside for Halloween?  I love Halloween so I don't think there is any place in our home that doesn't have some kind of decoration!
Image
New this year is my pumpkin totem poles!  Just plain plastic Trick or Treat pails with a hole cut in the bottom and threaded on a dow rod and stuck into my planters.  I used clear lights to illuminate them.

Image
I love these!

Image
More blow mold pumpkins!

Last weekend I sat in the drizzle all day long at a local auction.  I really enjoyed watching the things sell.  It always amazes me what brings a lot of money and what they can't even give away!.  Most came from an old store that was across the street from the sale.

Image
Dear husband showed up at the sale for about 10 minutes and bought this really cool thermometer.  The small red one is also an advertising one and was in one of my goodie boxes.

Image
Some clear refrigerator containers.  I have quite the collection of these now.

Image
Some cute red plastic ware.  I am going to sell this because the only reason I have it is because I wanted the Easter decorations below and they were in the same box!

Image
These were absolutely filthy but cleaned up very nice.

Image
A little stove teapot and an occupied Japan cigarette box.

Image
I never set out to collect these heads, but they were in a box I bought for $5.00.  I sold everything else that was in the box and ended up making $20 on the box lot.  So my heads were free!!

Image
Various advertising pieces.

Image
My family bought a lot of furniture from Morgan Eubank back in the day.  I love that they gave their customers these fans.

Image
I need another set of glasses like I need a hole in the head, but these were so pretty.  3 different sizes.

Image
These were in the box with the heads.  The only thing that didn't sell.

There was one more item that I bought but it isn't quite ready to show yet.  It was an unbelievable bargain and I can't wait until I finish getting it clean!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Good Wednesday afternoon!

Have you ever went to bed feeling just fine and then sometime in the night you get so sick you are dizzy?  That happened to me Monday night.  I got so sick that I actually called in to work sick.  First time this year!   However when the mail came I miraculously became healed because it was my package from Patti!  It had a big pumpkin with my name and address on it and I knew right away it was my swap package!

Wreath/Pumpkin Day!

Good Monday afternoon!  Did everyone have a wonderful weekend?  It was a perfectly, cool autumn weekend for us and I loved it!

Last weekend our monthly craft group met at my house for a Fall wreath and pumpkin decorating day.  What fun we had!  There were 12 of us there, and I can't believe I didn't get a photo of all of us together!   We were having so much fun and there was so much going on I just plumb forgot!  A couple were new ladies just coming to see if they would like to join.  I think they are coming back!

Anyway, of course we always get started with snacks!  I say we are a eating group that just happens to make crafts!
Image
 Deviled Eggs!  LOL!
Image
Delicious Fall cupcakes and nachos with spinach dip

Image
Candy corn fudge, jello jigglers, pumpkin dip with ginger snaps
Image
Is this not the cutest Owl meat and cheese plate!

Image
"pumpkin" cheeseball and some mummy dogs!

We eat like champs!

The wreaths most of us made were the burlap/mesh type.  Most of us had never made one but JW had an she instructed us.  Take a look at her witch wreath!  Amazing!
Image

Image
DF decided not to do mesh but set about making an adorable Halloween wreath by covering a grapevine wreath she already had.  It turned out so cute!

Image
This is my sis, her Halloween wreath is very spooky!

Image
Yours truly went with just an Autumn themed wreath with sunflowers and fall stems

Image
CG made her wreath in the color of Virginia Tech, where two of her boys have gone.

Image
This is Brandi the youngest member of our group with her stunning peacock blue and black with silver snowflakes wreath!
Image
LH made a wreath for her mom that turned out so pretty with it's fall flowers
Image

SM couldn't stay long enough to make a wreath or pumpkin but she did make a cute little ghost spoolie!
After the wreaths we headed outside to decorate pumpkins.  Honestly we were so worn out from the wreaths, we didn't get them completely done.

Image

These 3 are mine.  The first in chalkboard paint with our name on it, the second painted black with a stencil for the pumpkin faces, then dotted orange with glow in the dark paint.  The third is actually painted periwinkle and then highlighted with silver.  I love that one!

Image
We had initial pumpkins

Image
My sisters "picaso" moment where she painted this owl on hers after first painted the pumpkin white.

Image
This one was made for one of our members who was absent who is fighting leukemia and winning!

Image
JW was just happy to get hers painted black!  She finished them at home by painting them with dots.  It looks like her shadow is reaching into my shadows pocket.  There's nothing in there JW!

Image
CG brought a white pumpkin and painted it with orange dots.
All in all we had a wonderful day with tons of laughing, eating and creating!

I love this group of ladies!

Blessings

It's Halloween Town at my House!

Good Wednesday afternoon!  Beautiful, fall day in SW Virginia!

Well the Halloween decorating is done!  I had a ball putting up my trees ( yes plural) and all my scary, silly, and fun Halloween what nots in my cabinet.

Image
This is tree number 2.  It is just a small tabletop tree but I love it!
Image
My newest banner says Trick or Treat and fits perfectly under my plate rack in the kitchen.
Image
My mantle in the Living room with the Halloween banner I made several years ago.  I see that spooky elf Sparkley peeking out, do you?
Image\
This is the decorations on the island in the Kitchen.  Don't you just love that little Lefton Halloween planter?  It is one of my favorite Halloween decorations!
Image
Of course the buffet is decked out with all manner of Halloween as well.  See that fold out Haunted House in the middle?  I got that in the 2nd grade (1967) for finding the most hidden cardboard pumpkins in our room.  You want to know a secret?  I cheated!  I wanted the house so bad I pretended to close my eyes and watched the teacher hide them.  I still feel just a tad ashamed every year when I put it out but I wanted it soooo bad.  I had never seen anything like it and HAD to own it!  It's been 47 years now, wonder if I will ever get over it?
Image
Mr. Scarecrow with his honeycomb fold out hay chock.
Image
And finally the famous "Happy Cabinet"
Image
The first shelf is all my Halloween Peanut characters!  I Love Peanuts!
Image
The 2nd shelf is my Halloween village with a couple of overgrown guests in the back!
Image
Shelf 3 contains some vintage Halloween noise makers, some characters that I have made, some Mary Moos, etc.  I just bought that awesome skull at The Rescue Mission Thrift store last week!
Image
And finally shelf 4 contains all my Halloween dolls.
Image
She is my latest creation.  She came filthy from the Goodwill is a ragged old dress.  Now she is the Belle of the Halloween Ball.

This weekend my Crafty Friends will be back at my house for some wreath making and pumpkin painting.  I can hardly wait!  We have so much fun and laugh so much my sides hurt the next day!

Blessings
