Here is my second in a series of Bind-it-All minibooks made from patterned paper scraps. This project is a baby shower book for well-wishers to add their happy greetings.

I also made goody bags for all 35 of my co-workers plus a few extra for Katie’s family. See more photos of both projects in the slideshow below.

~ Flipped-Out Tag Book

Enough of the snow and dreariness already! We’re expecting our second snowstorm today, as if there wasn’t already tons of snow in the D.C. area. I’ll be sure to take more pictures tonight/tomorrow.

So, here is my first real “Spring” project — all bright colors and flowers. Instead of binding the chipboard tag shapes all in the same direction, I flipped every other tag. Though this added extra design interest, it made binding a little more tricky.

~ Valentine’s Day Card Class

Here’s my latest project for a card class that I will be teaching at work sometime in the next few weeks. I used both Fiskars and Martha Stewart tools for shapecutting and border punching. I found the Martha Stewart punches a little tough on the hands as they need a little more pressure for both the border punching and the lattice heart shapes. I don’t recommend them if you have weak or smaller hands.

~ Penny Spinner Cards

I needed to come up with a new card idea for my November class at work and found inspiration on Angie Kennedy Juda’s Stampin’ Up blog in the form of an owl spinner card. Click here to go to her post for a video lesson. Here are the penny spinner card samples I made for the class. I kept the cards simple in case my co-workers have trouble with all of the parts to make the card “spin” and lunchtime constraint.

~ Birthday Card for Grandma

Here is the birthday card I made for my hubby’s mom. This is a push-pull card. There are tabs inside the card that come out from the sides when you pull the left tab. To return the tabs to the “hidden” position, you push the tab on the right. Click here for a tutorial that I read on Jen’s site – push-pull card. I didn’t follow the measurements exactly. I winged it for this project.

~ Whimsical Chipboard Panda Card

My original inspiration for this came from Fiskateer #3405 Pinky’s Owl Card. After visiting Washington, D.C. for a short day trip, I decided I wanted to make a panda today and not an owl. The cherry blossoms are starting to bloom which made me think of pandas (don’t know why–they’re unrelated)! I added a little more style to the pocket in the back of the card with the new Fiskars Threading Water punch. =)

I’ll post an attachment for the template to use to cut the different chipboard pieces later. Just check back a little later.

P.S. I needed to post these pics quick. My kiddies were ready to run off with these panda cards. =) I personalized them with stickers spelling out their names on the green pockets after I posted the pics.

~ Grunged-up Board Book

I made this book over the course of three nights — I adhered patterned paper, inked, stamped, inked some more, painted, stamped some more and added Perfect Pearls to both the pages you see and ones that you don’t see.

Every page has pull out tabs for extra pictures or journaling. Ribbons and eyelets are added to those pieces that pull out. The last bit was adding the ribbon and grungeboard to the cover. The eyelets in the grungeboard were filled in with a clear glaze.

Feeling very inspired from Tim Holtz’ glimmer mist concoction, I might try it this weekend on some white book board and see what results I get. Yes! Another board book. =) We’ll see…I might end up making something else.

I couldn’t resist–just one more coaster book to complete my set of 3! I made this one a while back but didn’t get around to posting it until today. I used the Fiskars sunburst border punch for extra embellishing.

~ Embellished Acrylic Tags

I can’t seem to get enough of acrylic tags! I punched the tags at my LSS. I made one decorated tag to add to the Easter Egg Purse (see post below) as a gift tag but then I made another and then another (you get the picture). Punching and layering the flowers is so addictive! I used my Extra-Large Oopsie Daisy Fiskars Squeeze Punch for the flowers. What I didn’t like was peeling off the protective plastic from both sides of the acrylic. That part was for the birds!

~ Easter Egg Purse

We’re having an Easter swap on the Fiskateers site. I decided that I didn’t want to go with a plastic egg so I made this cute 6″ x 8″ x 1.25″ purse instead. I hope my swap partner likes this version of the swap egg and all the goodies I plan to include in it. =)

9:50 p.m. Update – Here is a quick response to Fiskateer Alicia on how I created this project:

– I found an egg shape online and traced it on cardstock to make a template (roughly 6″ x 8″).
– Adhered patterned paper to cardstock and cut out two of the egg shapes then added the punched out paper lace and layered flowers on one egg shape to serve as the front of the purse.
– Inked the edges.
– Made 4″ x 4″ x 1.25″ cardstock box (open at the top) which I sandwiched between the two egg shapes. This is probably the tricky part–getting the two egg shapes to match up.
– Added eyelets to the box and threaded ribbon to make the handle.

If you have Powerpoint and want the egg shape template, let me know and I will send it to you.

Well, all is not wasted with me being home from work with a bad tummy bug. Not only did the friendly UPS guy deliver a large Stampin’ Up! order that I’ve been waiting for, I was also able to make another coaster minibook from restaurant coasters I mentioned in the previous post (see the “Before” in the post below). My hubby tells me that the Outback police are going to come and get me!

~ “Extreme Makeover” for Outback Coasters

Oh, the places where you find your next inspiration… The source of inspiration this weekend was Outback. (Y’know, mate, the restaurant.)

As my hubby and I waited and chatted, I eyeballed a stack of 4″ x 4″ drink coasters. I thought to myself, “Hmmm…this is thin chipboard. I can do something with this. A little bit of paint, paper, blah, blah, blah…” Much to hubby’s dismay, I took a small stackful of the coasters and brought them home. A little bit of paint, paper, ink, mod podge, hardware and new life was breathed into the previously lackluster coasters.

Dawn T had posed the question the other day about the number of eyelets that I do to warrant buying the Big Bite Crop-a-dile 2. Well…let’s just say that I had “eyeletted” 60 tags this weekend for the favor boxes I put together for a retirement luncheon. Yep, 60 eyelets.
