California....

Image We just celebrated Sky's 2nd birthday by taking him to California.  We flew into to Long Beach Airport and drove down to Seal Beach to spend an hour or so playing in the water...well, the water was a bit cold so we spent most of the time on the beach which was still a lot of fun.
After the beach we checked into the hotel and then headed to Downtown Disney.  We spent the evening wandering around trying to decide what to eat.  We decided to go to the Rainforest Cafe and spent way to much money on a salad that was not exactly tasty.  I guess that is what you get when you are paying for the atmosphere.  Except we sat outside on the balcony so we didn't really get to enjoy the atmosphere.

The next morning Sky woke us up and he was ready for Disneyland.  We first went on the Nemo ride followed by Buzz Lightyear, and then Buzz Lightyear, and then Buzz Lightyear.  Did I mention we went on Buzz Lightyear?  I think he found his favorite ride.  We eventually pulled him away from Buzz and made our way around to Autotopia, Pirates of the Caribbean (which scared Angie), and the Jungle Cruise.  Eventually we made it back to Buzz a few more times.
We spent two days at Disneyland going on every possible ride that Sky could go and then repeating all of his favorites.  It was such a fun way to spend his birthday.  I will admit it was nice that my parents babysat Tyce for the week so we only had Sky as he was a handful.  We had to keep him on a leash most of the time so he wouldn't run away from us.

The last day of the trip we went to the Aquarium of the Pacific to see "Nemo"...he loves Nemo and Crush.  Unfortunately the aquarium only had two Sea Turtles and they were rather shy.  Sky did love the tank full of Nemo.   He spent at least 10 minutes standing in front of the tank telling everyone that approached him about Nemo.   He definitely has no problems talking to just about anyone that will listen.
Hopefully this will be a birthday that we will remember.  I know I will as it was so much fun watching him get excited about all of the characters, the rides, the fish, the beach, the airplane...he seemed to love it all!

Its About Time...

So I figured since Tyce is about 4 months old now that I should post some pictures of him.  I suppose they are outdated as they were taken when he was just a few weeks old, but they are still cute pictures that need to be shown off.

Object hide-and-go-seek

Earlier this week we hadn't been able to find Sky's toothbrush so I went out and bought him another one. Then on Wednesday I went to cook some pasta and when I opened up the cupboard to get out a pot, guess what I found... Sky's toothbrush inside one of the pots. Hmmm, I wonder how it got in there. Ryan??? Also, we have been slowly taking down our Halloween decorations and I had placed our wreath hanger for the door by the stairs to go down in the basement. But yesterday I noticed it was missing. I wasn't at all surprised that Sky had probably carried it around somewhere, I was just hadn't seen it anywhere so I wasn't sure where he'd left it. Well this morning I opened up the freezer and there on the bottom shelf was our wreath hanger. Let's just say that Sky keeps me laughing (okay, and sometimes crying) and I guess I need to be more creative when I'm looking for things Sky may have stashed somewhere. :)

Doctor's Office Disaster

Yesterday I took Sky to his 18-month appointment at the Pediatrician's office. Unfortunately we waited  1 1/2 hours for a 10 minute appointment. The first half hour was spent with me chasing Sky around the halls of the office until they took us back into an exam room. By then my limited energy (from being 29-weeks pregnant) was used up so while we waited almost another hour in the exam room, I made sure Sky didn't find any needles to play with but other than that I just wasn't up for dealing with him. He did find a paper table drape that he proceed to shred apart all over the floor. I wish I would have had my camera because the image was priceless. Just picture white confetti all over the floor of the room when the doctor walks in. As I watched Sky cover the floor with paper I knew it was going to embarrass me, but so exhausted that I just began to laugh. The rest of the appointment went fine, but I hope we won't have to take Sky back there until his two-year appointment in another six months!!!

Our Little Monkey

Image
Last night Ryan and Grant (his dad) were downstairs working on finishing our basement. Sky has turned into a major daddy's boy the last few weeks so, of course, Sky was down there too. I was down there for a little while watching Sky imitate his dad and grandpa pick up nails and put them against wood, pick up various tools and pound them against surfaces, etc. It was so cute! But then I went upstairs to get some other things done. A little while later Ryan yelled up to me to come downstairs. When I got there, Ryan and Grant said that they had been standing a few feet away from the ladder when all of a sudden they turned and noticed that Sky had climbed to the top of it! It's true because I saw him do it again after I had gotten down there. I was amazed to watch our 16-month-old climb up that ladder (especially since it seemed he had his mom's sense of balance.) I suppose we'll have to watch him even more closely now. :)

So, I was bored at church and discovered that my cell doubles as a video camera. So I figured I would post a short video of Sky. He is a beast at church. He pretty much refuses to hold still, but it does get me out of meetings so...you won't hear me complain.
