Easter festivities

We had such a blessed Easter weekend. It started bright and early with cinnamon roll delivery at 6am on Friday for Good Friday breakfast and worship service at church. Then Lane's parents came down around 2 and we spent the afternoon visiting and being entertained by Lena Kate. We topped off the evening with a big trip to town to "the orange taqueria" for dinner...yummy! Then we ventured over to my aunt and uncle's house to visit. Uncle Ray had won Lena Kate an Easter basket with gardening stuff which she really loves and Aunt Lorain got her a singing bunny whose ears flap. She LOVES to dance with it. This all after Leelee and Paw brought her a huge basket full of wonderful goodies. She especially loves the Dora alphabet book:) Thanks to the family for spoiling her-we wouldn't have it any other way :)

On Saturday we played some more and headed back to town for lunch at the local burger joint...nothing like some fried onion rings, fried pickles, and a juicy burger to add to the lbs gained and the nice case of heartburn. I made homemade pizza for dinner and we all just enjoyed each other's company. It was so nice to have Lane's family here. They are wonderful and family is what makes holidays so special.

Sunday was a big day as well! Of course, the greatest news is that Christ has Risen!!!! Lena Kate found her eggs that the Easter Bunny had brought her and wanted to open each one rather than collecting them all and then seeing what they held. We then got all dressed up for church and headed to town. Lena Kate had a breakthrough and decided she would join the other kids at children's time! Pastor Patti had resurrection eggs and Lena Kate kept asking what's in this one...over and over again. After church there was an egg hunt for the kids and an pinata. Lena Kate loved hitting the bunny pinata as well as collecting TONS of candy. Finally we made it home for a family lunch and visit.

Overall it was such a good time...but I was tired! Lena Kate and I are relaxing today. Here are a bunch of pictures from the weekend.

I hope you all had a blessed weekend as well. Remember the real reason for Easter. I love that we sang all the great Easter songs in church too. They are so moving :)

You need a little practice Daddy!

I know, I'm a big blog slacker these days..sorry to those of you that wait anxiously for my not so exciting updates. Maybe you need to look for a new hobby..just sayin. We've been plugging right along. Tax season is FINALLY OVER and Lane was home both Saturday and Sunday-wow, was that nice. I went to a baby shower on Sunday and Lane kept Lena Kate. We both have colds and it is NOT fun, I repeat, NOT fun. Couple hacking with a little bit of returning nausea and lots of phlem...EWwW. Sorry, TMI. I just wanted to let you in on my past 2 days. Back to the happier notes, it was sure nice having Lane's help with Lena Kate. I had a good doctor's appt yesterday. Ainslee is still a happy little girl in my belly. and shall remain there for 2 more long months. Let's hope she is the only one that continues to gain weight.

Well, that is it for the recap, hope you weren't expecting more. I'll give you an excuse. I tried to upload pics twice last week to post and Blogger didn't like me, so I chose to not like it either. As for the brevity, well, we live a simple life and unless you want to hear about how one of our cats is down to 8 lives, I'll quit while I'm ahead. Oh, you do? Ok, Lane drove off yesterday morning to work as usual and I prepared to take a shower to get ready to head to San Antonio. He popped his head into the bathroom and said if I know how to get a cat out of his truck, I better hurry or it will have a very short life. He wasn't so sympathetic to the cat hiding in the burrows of his truck. I threw on some clothes and grabbed a bag of cat food. Apparently, the ONLY reason he stopped is because he thought he had a low tire, and he then heard the cat. That is one lucky cat. Anyway, I shook the bag of food and Lil Spot came out pretty quickly. Hopefully she won't try to hitch a ride to Alice anymore. Fortunately, cats are a dime a dozen around here and replacements are readily available to keep mice and snakes away.

Here's the little stinker running around the house as usual.

Lena Kate told Lane that he needed a little practice when he brought out his rope. She kept calling it a lasso and he corrected her and said it is a rope, only yankees call it a lasso. Apparently Dora or Team Umi Zoomi whichever show she was watching the other day is filmed in the north.

This may be one of those pics she regrets later in life. Nothing like some big girl panties and rubber boots for yard play. 1) No child was harmed in this roping event. She actually put the loop on her feet. Lane as using her giraffe as a roping dummy. 2) No, she is unfortunately NOT potty-trained and has no interest in being potty trained. She's going to be a tough one. 3) Yes, our yard is mainly weeds and dirt. It is DRY. PRAY FOR RAIN.

Sweetness :)

We have a busy week ahead, so hopefully we'll get over these stinkin colds soon. Happy Holy Week.

Daddy's Day Pics

OK, I PROMISE I'VE GONE BACK AND ADDED PARAGRAPH SPACING 3 TIMES NOW AND HAVE NO IDEA WHY BLOGGER DOESN'T LIKE THEM AND IS RUNNING EVERYTHING TOGETHER TODAY. SORRY FOR ONE LARGE PARAGRAPH IF IT STILL REMAINS, BUT I'M NOW ANNOYED AND NOT DOING IT AGAIN! This time of year Sunday becomes Daddy's Day since that is pretty much the only time Lena Kate and Lane get to hang out. I took these pictures last week of them on a little walk to the mailbox. My loves Image Lena Kate says she's a cowboy! Image Walk a Little Slower Daddy Image Walk a Little Slower Daddy "Walk a little slower, Daddy," said a little child so small. I'm following in your footsteps and I don't want to fall. Sometimes your steps are very fast, sometimes they're hard to see; So walk a little slower Daddy, for you are leading me. Someday when I'm all grown up, You're what I want to be, Then I will have a little child who'll want to follow me. And I would want to lead just right, and know that I was true; So, walk a little slower, Daddy, for I must follow you! -Author Unknown Thanks to my blogfriend Sandy for sharing this poem with me when she saw this picture. She is a great lady with a special place in her heart for children. She and her family are foster parents to some very lucky children. The world could use more people like Sandy, please pray for her as well :) I know she is such a blessing to the children and families they help. We had a nice past few days here. Friday I had a doctor's appt in San Antonio and then met my San Antonio mom friends for lunch. They had put together a little lunch shower for me. I love these girls and their sweet little ones. Thanks so much Rachel, Bethany, Heidi, and Amy! You are all so sweet and I hope to see you all again very soon. We headed home after the kids were all worn out and ready for a nap. Lena Kate slept the whole drive home. Then Lena Kate's Great Kelley and two of her friends stopped by for a short visit on their way to the coast. Lena Kate and our animals entertained them. Nothing like having your cats and dogs poop right in front of everyone within 5 minutes of visiting on the porch! Oh well, they all understand the country life, thank goodness. I broke out all kinds of fanciness with the Country Time lemonade...but at least I had some fresh baked cookies to offer. Saturday Lena Kate and I went to a wedding shower for a high school classmate and it was nice to be reminded again what a wonderful community of ladies we have. Lena Kate was crying for the first 10 minutes because as soon as the door opened there were about 10 older ladies exclaiming how cute she was...with about 30 more in the background. She was totally freaked out. She finally warmed up and decided a piece of cake was in order. Of course she at the fondant flower and thought it was great...everybody else left them aside. Hello, sugar rush. Lane got home earlier than expected so we just enjoyed him being home for a few hours before bedtime. On Sunday, I got some really sad news that my college roommate and friend's mother passed away. I don't know the details but she had heart surgery a week or so ago and was doing ok and then I saw the news that she wasn't going to make it. Roni Sechrist's mother Mama Sue is now in heaven with her Creator. Mama Sue was an unconditional loving mother and she and Roni were very close. She always welcomed me with open arms and was full of life. I know she will be missed greatly and her loving legacy will live on in Roni's heart. I know that Roni has some very tough times ahead as she processes this unexpected event in her life. Please join me in prayer for her family and that she finds peace. I've had such a heavy heart since hearing the news and can't imagine what she must be going through. Please hug your family members tightly today or talk to them if you can't give them a hug. Roni left a little tribute to her Mommy on her blog yesterday as a reminder to her 3 children just how much Mama Sue loved them and a little something special about each one. I don't know how she was able to even put those words together. Roni always had a knack for finding a song to match how she felt. It was her therapy. She has done so in this case as well. I cried buckets while listening to the song she posted as my heart is just broken for her. I also know that Roni is a very strong woman and will continue to be an extraordinary mother making her mother proud. Please take the time to check it out. http://www.cadenloganpresley.blogspot.com/ I hope you all have a great week. I'm not sure what is in store for us other than more warm dry weather. We sure could use a little rain!
