Lena Kate is just so full of life and personality these days. I want to make sure to record some of the fun things she does and says so I don't forget. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
(poor girl) and therefore she LOVES to count. She is always counting things, or just counting in general. She can count to 20, but usually stops at 12. Eleven and twelve are her favorite numbers for some reason, just as "w" is her favorite letter. On that note, she is starting to recognize the different letters. I got her some phonics flash cards that we are going to start working with. We try really hard on the "f" sound, but still get a "p". She loves to go to the aquarium and see the
:) I also correct her with proper English whenever I can. Last night she saw Daddy's truck AKA "
" truck. I made her say "his" truck. I figure that it is never too early to start!
I am now Mom and Lane is now Dad. What happened to Mommy and Daddy? This makes me sad.
We still sing every night and her current favorites are Joshua and Jericho, Twinkle, Twinkle, Jesus Loves Me, I am H.A.P.P.Y, He's got the whole world in His hands, and Jesus loves the little children. These days after her usual prayers she asked me, who are we going to pray for tonight. She doesn't take long to pick on anything. She is also now going down to children's time regularly at church. She even pays attention. She remembered that the mustard seed grows into a big tree, and that Jesus had fishes "pishes" and bread (which she counted for Pastor Patti AKA Mister Patti..hehe). I'm proud of her for this:)
She has picked up on asking for permission to do something. She is always saying something like this, "Mom, can I paint? Can I, can I?" It is like a broken record when she wants something.
When we ask Lena Kate why she did something her response is: See, I did. Me: Yes, dear. I know you did, but why did you do that. LK: See, I did! Me: Um, yes, but why? LK: See, I did.
It could go on forever.
For a while when you told her she was silly, or tired, or whatever she would respond with the following: No, I'm a girl!
Last night she told me, " Night, night, silly goose!" The girl loves to repeat what I say. She is quite the little parrot. I sure know the things I say often. She still loves to talk sweetly to Ainslee. She says, "hi, pretty blue eyes," and "hi little sister" all the time. She also gets excited and says, "Mom, she's looking (wooking) at me!" often. She will introduce Ainslee to anybody that will listen, and even when they aren't paying attention she says, "This is MY little sister. Ainswee, Ainswee Wane." She also says, "Tell us about it." I wonder where she heard that from;)
The other day she told me Ainslee was her best friend. This melted my heart. I sure hope they stay best friends for life!
She has discovered Mimi's new IPhone and plays "Cranky" Birds. Why she calls it cranky, instead of angry, I have no idea.
Lena Kate loves to take pictures. She always says, "Smile, say cheese, click."
LK also loves Ainslee's baby stuff. She puts her babies in the swing, pack and play, carseat, etc.
This is how I find Ainslee's car seat quite often.
The other day she was outside calling Missy to come inside and this is what I heard, "Come on Missy, Come on Missy, Vamanos!" She is a South Texas girl, through and through! She also calls Missy by the name of Miss, Miss and tells her, "Oh, just hush, Miss." or, "Oh calm down, Missy." Little ones hear everything you say! She was saying, "Oh shoot" for awhile. Thankfully, this is not happening anymore.
When she wants to go barefoot, she says she wants to go in her toesies, which is often. I love how cute it sounds. When she puts her shoes on by herself she always gets them on the right foot. If not, she changes them. I guess she knows how it is supposed to feel:) What a big girl! LK also has to do things "ALL by MYself" and answers with, "Yes, I did, emphasizing the "I" and stretching it as long as possible. Her answer of choice at the moment is, "All right" She uses it two ways. Me: Let's go get some dinner. LK: All right. or Me: Are you ok? LK: No, I'm all right. This happens after she falls or runs into something....VERY OFTEN. She has her mother's grace. Dad used to call me grace, and it was in sarcasm, always! The apple doesn't fall far.
She has embraced the inner cowgirl and climbs up on her horse with her cowboy hat on and exclaims, "I'm a cowgirl from head to toe and every cowgirl needs horse" (a line from one of her books) She does it with the same expression every time. Her lips are pursed in a silly smile.
She is also all about getting bigger. She wants to eat her dinner to grow big and strong like Dad, and sometimes like Uncle Trent and Uncle Gus. She wants to grow big and strong to touch the ceiling as well as go to work with Dad.
Lining up her books...oh what fun!
LK wakes up asking "where we going today, Mom?" more often than not. She acts like we go lots of places when usually it is just to the store or over to Mimi and Papa's to swim. When I tell her, she says that Ainslee will go too and that we can't leave her here. This just makes me laugh, of course we won't leave her here!
She is just so much fun and full of energy. On that note, potty training is tough. She has no desire and I have to force her to go sit on the potty. We are going to be trying really hard these next few weeks and hopefully we can conquer it. Wish us luck! I think 2.5 years old may be one of the most trying ages, as well as the most enjoyable at the same time, if that is possible. There is so much learning and discovery going on, BUT she doesn't want to listen to instruction...or listen in general!
