Nice to meet you.
Practice & Advocacy
I’m a Montreal-based litigation attorney with a practice rooted in a commitment to social, environmental, and economic justice. The firm I work for is a recognized leader in class actions and public interest litigation. I have represented successful parties at every level of court in Canada, including before the Supreme Court. The bulk of my practice is in constitutional law, state liability, technology, and human rights litigation, particularly in the class actions context.
I am a licensed member of both the Law Society of Ontario and the Barreau du Québec. I am a former clerk to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, and have a B.C.L./LL.B. from McGill University. My practice is fully bilingual.
Speaking, Research & Writing
I am a senior fellow at the Citizen Lab, where I’ve been affiliated in various capacities since 2017.
I have also taught at McGill University’s Faculty of Law since 2020, including the upper-year seminars Law and Poverty, Technology and the Charter, and Disobedience and the Rule of Law.
I’m often asked to speak on topics related to constitutional and human rights, law reform, and emerging technology. I believe in the importance of public conversation, and—from testimony before Parliamentary committees to keynote talks at hacker conferences—my intention has been to engage audiences on these difficult issues with integrity and impact. I am also the author or co-author of peer-reviewed journal articles, major reports, policy briefs, and international submissions.
