Funny little people...

Children are hilarious...and since mine love to talk (all the time) they keep me laughing with the things they come up with.  Here are few I had to write down...

**  While we were swimming the other day Aiden poured his bucket of water down the front of my swimsuit and said "There mommy - some water for your boobies, in case Emmett wants to drink water instead of milk!"  Aren't I lucky to have such a helpful big boy?!?

**   We love music around here and as we were jammin' out to some Rhianna, We Found Love - Aiden was like "that is one of my favorite songs mom!"  When the song was finished he asked if we could listen to that song again, "you know mom, the one- we found love in a homeless place..."  I tried to tell him she was saying "in a hopeless place", but he wasn't convinced.  He kept saying, "no mommy, it's a homeless place."

**   At the dinner table the other night, Aiden was telling Mike, "daddy, you don't know you're beautiful." (another of his current favorite songs)  To which of course Mike answered, "oh, don't worry buddy I know I'm beautiful."  Then Miss Ry pipes up, "daddy's not beautiful!  I don't see any sparkles."  I guess you have to have sparkles to be beautiful...I'll have to remember that!

**  Ryleigh is now potty trained!!!  Mind you though she has only been potty trained for a week (w/o any accidents!) and I hear her in the living room, singing to the baby, "Emmett is a stinker bottom, who poops in his pants...and it stinks!"  Ah, the hypocrisy of a 2 year old.

**   Ryleigh was sitting on the sofa flipping through Aiden's Book of Mormon, and I was like - isn't that so cute!  So I asked her, "Ryleigh do you like reading the scriptures?  Do you like reading about Jesus?"  She looked over at me and said, "Oh, yes mommy...Jesus is so handsome!"  Oh, boy....

**   Ryleigh loves to help "her baby" feel better when he is upset, so recently when Emmett is crying because he is hungry and mommy is not moving fast enough...Miss Ry has taken to coming over and rubbing his head and cooing "It's ok Emmett, mommy will feed you her boobie soon."  Not exactly how it works, but I guess it's the thought that counts.

**   I was going through Starbucks drive-thru for my favorite frozen chocolaty treat one day and as the lady is handing me my drink- I hear Aiden from the back yell, "Mommy, I hope that's not coffee!"  No buddy it's not, but thanks for looking out for me :)

**   Also...just for reference, Ryleigh is now referring to her bottom as "my sweet bum."  She will pop her hip out and ask me "Do you like my sweet bum?"  I have no idea where she got this from, and while I am thrilled at her confidence now...I'm not so sure how I'll feel about it in 10 years :)

Lots of Summer Fun...

I love summer...and fall, winter and spring!  I love all the fun things that each new season brings...and since this summer has been really hot and sunny, we have been keeping very busy enjoying every second we can.  My intent has been to have lots of fun and keep Aiden and Ryleigh busy, happy and at the end of the day - tired!  And it has been working beautifully...but unfortunately my plan has been working a little too well on me too :)

We discovered this AWESOME splash pad near our house this year...
Image

needless to say - it is a huge hit with my little water babies!

Image
They love to bring their buckets to fill up...and Aiden thinks it's just the funniest thing ever to then dump the water all over you
Image

I like it because I don't need to hassle a second person to come with us to help keep an eye on everyone...like at the pool
Image
Emmett finds the whole splash pad/swimming thing very boring, and prefers to take a snooze in the shade
Image

July 4th was really hot and humid and we spent most of the day swimming and grilling at Grandma and Poppa Bigler's house
Image
My parents brought some fun (and fairly safe) fireworks to set off in the backyard
Image
Daddy was on water patrol in case things got a little crazy

Image
Grandma Bigler kept our cute little dude at a safe distance, and as you can see the by the look on his face - Emmett thinks we're all a little crazy

After all that excitement, a little snuggle with Auntie Sarina is the best way to end a hot summer day...for Emmett that is ;-)

4 Months...

Our cute little man is already 4 months old...and for the record, mommy is not pleased at how fast the time is flying by.  Life needs to slow down and chubby babies need to be snuggled more...I think there should be a law.

At Emmett's 4 month well-baby check, the doctor said he was perfect (duh!) and in the 95% for height!!!  I thought he looked really long...and that explains why none of his size 3 month clothes fit him.  Oh, darn...now we have to go shopping.

Image

Meanest mommy ever - but this picture makes me laugh every time I see it!

Image

Emmett is such a happy and content baby.  He hardly ever cries and is always ready with smiles for all his favorite people.  He also is very vocal (no big surprise there, since mommy and his siblings never shut up :) and loves to "talk" to you, he also has the cutest belly laugh when tickled or told a funny joke...what can I say, he's advanced.  He prefers knock-knock jokes, told by his very funny big brother - but then who doesn't?!?!

Image

Emmett also loves his mommy very much and is very considerate of the fact that she has to take care of 3 kids now, so he has kindly been sleeping through the night since he was 4 weeks old.  Either that, or he realized really quickly that his mother is bat-$%@! crazy without any sleep and decided he never wanted to see that again...I told you he was advanced ;-)

Dirt Bikes Rule...

My Uncle Joe is a little crazy and very adventurous...and was down in our neck of the woods a few weeks ago to race his quad and dirt bikes!  We had a lot of fun hanging out with Uncle Joe and Aunt Stacey and watching the races...they are some of our favorite people!!!
Image
Aiden thought everything was really cool and wanted to wear this helmet the whole time
Image
He really liked sitting on the bikes too, as long as they weren't turned on or moving.  Uncle Joe tried to give him a ride, but since Aiden couldn't cover his ears and hold on at the same time...he wasn't interested :)
Image
Little Miss Adventurous on the other hand, threw caution to the wind and was more than happy to ride around the campground with Uncle Joe.

Growing Up...

Aiden is growing up so fast...and while I am enjoying every stage (some more than others :)  and milestone with my funny little man, it still kind of makes me sad how fast it is all going.  Especially since in less then 2 short months he will be starting Kindergarten.  He is totally ready and excited to go to school...but I on the other hand am a little nervous.  Ah, well, such is life.

Our handsome little soccer star
*On a side note- watching 4 and 5 year old's play soccer is pure comic gold!
Image
Since Aiden is going to Kindergarten this year, he got to go to Safety Village.  He had a blast and got to meet some of the kids he'll be going to school with, learn about safety, ride a school bus, meet some awesome firemen and police officers, and a lot of other cool things!
Image
Ryleigh though missed her cohort in crime while he was gone during the days...and she has decided that Mr. Emmett is great for snuggling with, but not so great for playing with yet.
Looks like we will all have some adjusting to do, come fall :)

Happy Birthday Aiden...

I can't believe my little man is already 5 years old...where the heck did the time go?!?!
Aiden wanted to go to ChuckyCheese's for his birthday again this year - so we packed up everyone, grabbed the grandparents and lots of hand sanitizer...and off we went.

Ry LOVED this marry-go-round & kept pulling tokens out of her pocket to ride again whenever it would stop
Image
Aiden thought this ride was pretty cool - it's like going on a roller coaster, without going anywhere

Presents!!!

Aiden insisted he wanted party hats and made everyone wear one

We are smitten...

Everyone around here loves to snuggle with Mr. Emmett...maybe it's because "he's so cute and chubby" as his sister always says!

Ryleigh loves to kiss and head bump her little brother - she insists he likes it

Very proud big brother

Even Gus gets in on the action - I think he misunderstood the term "babysitting" though
Image

Our little man also seems to put out some serious sleepy juju...or maybe it's just Grandma?!?

Daddy is Emmett's other bed...too cute!

What a good big sister...

Emmett's first photo shoot....

I love pictures of tiny little babies, so I was determined this time around to have some professionally taken of Mr. Emmett.  I think they turned out so cute, and here are few of my favorites...
