Hello my name is Valencia but you can call me V. After years of damaging my hair, I knew there had to be a better way. So I decided to take the path to go natual and lock up. I was Sisterlcoked from June 2006 until Sept 2010 (4yrs). In which during that time I truly enjoyed my hair freedom. Unfortunately my journey had to come to end due to post partum hair loss. I have recently started a new journey this past September, and looking forward to all the ups and downs. As a new Sisterlocks™ Consultant I want to give women and men that same freedom.

Feeling Blue?

Image

Selsun Blue That Is.....

Selsun Blue has became My New Best Friend!

Unfortunately through out my natural years I have had issues with dry scalp and dandruff. I'm talking about the dandruff that every time you run your fingers though you hair flakes fall out or dry scalp that comes back right after a hair washing. After trying so many products I had learned to deal with it. Those other products never worked and when they did it didn't last long. Even keeping oil on my scalp didn't help. So someone suggested Selsun Blue the Medicated one. I tried Selsun Blue before but not this particular brand. Anyhow I must say I saw results in the 1st wash! It didn't rid all of it away but it was a major improvement. After the 2nd or 3rd wash my dandruff was completely gone!!! Can you say Happy? I sure am! By the way my DH experienced severe dandruff as well, but the Selsun Blue cured his dandruff as well!

By the way I used to wash my hair once a week. Recently I forgot to wash my hair because I didn't have any issues, a whole week had passed. On week two I didn't want to wash my hair, because I still didn't have any issues. Anyhow I washed anyway in fear of the dandruff coming back. I might start washing every 3 weeks though.

One thing I almost forgot to add is that I believe Water had a major impact on the dandruff and dry scalp (yes there is a difference).  I've recently increased my water intake and that has ceased my dry scalp. The Sisterlocks Starter Shampoo no longer dries out my scalp. I always thought it was the shampoo but have now realized that it was ME! Before I used to oil my scalp lightly because I couldn't stand the dry scalp look, only for it to return.  Now I don't have to because my scalp is producing it's own natural oils. #Winning.

If you having any dandruff or dry scalp issues you might want to give Seslun Blue and Drinking water a try.

So as of now my hair routine is very simple.
1). Wash Every two weeks with Selsun Blue Medicated(1st) and Starter Shampoo(2nd)
2). Style if in the mood which is never, lol
3). Sea Water Spritz on occasions 3 -4 times a week when I remember!

Loving My Locks Right Now

Speaking of Locks,

They are doing ok nothing major, they are GROWING!
I had to switch consultants for reasons I wish not to state. I have found another who does excellent work but timing is slow. I did have some slippage so the next appointment I will see if the timing is better if not I guess I will have to give in and start retightening my own hair. So not ready for that! Why is finding a good consultant so hard?

Anyhow hope all is well with everyone.

Styling

I have finally came to the conclusion that I want to get into styling....

I'm sure some of  my clients will come to the point that they will want to get something more done to their locks besides a retightening. So I want to learn and start styling their locks so they can have that option.

Lucky for me You Tube has lots of videos I can learn from, and thankfully most of my clients have patience for me to try styles on their locks, lol.

My first style attempt was spider braids on my mother. I learned of this style from another Sisterlocks Consultant on Facebook by the name of Tanisha.

My mother was my first victim, I mean first person at attempting this style.

I think this style came out pretty good for it to be my first try.

As for my next style. This client asked for an up-do and this is what came to mind.

I think this style also came out nice, when it came to the top I really wasn't sure what to do with it but overall it was a decent style.

Well hopefully one day I will post pics of my own locks styled... don't hold your breath, lol.

I plan to be back sooner than later.

Update on My Mother's Locks

My mother has been Sisterlocked for about 8 months now and I'm happy that she has made it this far.

I never thought the day would come for her to be natural and then get locked but I am proud!

Here's a few photos of her locks around 8 Months!

My mom really hates her gray to the point she loves to cover it up with headbands. Every now and then she will wear a wig. I always frown on her for doing that but hey no matter what I say she will do what she wants to do. I can't fight her too much just glad she decided to leave the "creamy crack" alone!

You can find pics of her first install HERE

Well that's all the updates I have for now...

Sisterlocks Explosion 2012

This year I was fortunate to attend the Sisterlocks Explosion in Atlanta. I had a wonderful experience and had a chance to meet some fellow bloggers and sisters from Facebook.

Unfortunately at this time, I really don't feel like blogging about it however I will post about it in the near future. I took some pictures but clearly not enough, However I will post what I have until then...

Branching Out! New Interlocks Client

This year I said I would start branching out and expanding my business. I would love to offer other lock services, for the simple fact that I LOVE ALL types of locks rather free form, traditional, braidlocks or interlocks. I want LOCKS-N-MOTION to have more than one face!

So to start me off. I retightened an new interlocks client. She started her locks 3 years ago with a hair pin. Occasionally she gets them palm rolled with gel, however she prefers them to be interlocked. I will be maintaining her hair with the Nappylocks tool. As you can see she loves to color, I love this color on her is it fierce! The color is not as bright in person.

Grateful she is my first client she is even going to let me attempt styles on her. I would love to get into styling as well!

Here are a few pics of her before, during, and after her interlocking session.

Looking forward to expanding....spread the word!

Who inspired you?

Just curious who inspired you to go natural and or lock up? For me it was my hubby! At one point I got tired of perking hair because I felt I had nothing on the top of my head to perm, lol. So with ease my husband said why dont you just go natural and get dreads? And I did a double take to make sure what I was hearing was coming from him, and it was. :) So at that very moment my research began on how I would start this new journey. I've been natural for 6 and a half years I was locked with my 1st set of Sisterlocks for 4 yrs + Loose natural for one year....quickly realized combing my hair was not for me :) I've been locked with 2nd set of locks for 4 months now! Going natural is the best decision I've ever made for my hair and I'm never turning back! So I ask who inspired you to go natural and or get locked? Please share Until Next Time Much Love ~~V~~
