My baby boy is 7!

Image

Kohl turned 7 yesterday and what a fun day we had. For breakfast he wanted crepes and then he opened his presents...he had really wanted battleship and was happy to receive it. We then went with a friend to see Alvin and the Chipmunks, very funny. Then came pizza and cake and just playing with Tony.

He told me that he felt very different now and thinks he is ready to get married. I asked him how he would support a wife and he said he could play basketball as his job, sounds like a plan to me. We love Kohl so much and I thank Heaven for him gracing our family. He is so tender hearted, fun, thoughtful, a great sibling, a great friend, a wonderful student and I really couldn't ask for more from a son. It is all going by way too fast and I know that before I know it he really will be getting married and starting his own family. I just want to enjoy each day I have with my kids.

Today we celebrate my dad's birthday. He would have been 71 today...so crazy. He died when he was just 58 and we have missed him terribly. Happy Birthday Dad!

'Tis the season

ImageYou get a preview of what will be playing at our house around 7pm tomorrow night. I have to admit that it is always my favorite activity of Christmas Eve. The kids think otherwise and are dying to open presents...I keep warning them that they don't get much this year since our trip to Disney was their Christmas, they just got to open it a bit early. We will see what happens on Christmas morning when they see just what I mean.
Church today was in classic Spanish Branch style with our family getting asked to sing for Sacrament meeting during Relief Socity/Priesthood. We did "Away in Manger" and I don't know if anyone could hear us except those in the front row( nobody sits in the front row ). It was actually pretty fun to get up there with my kids and I have to say that for those few minutes I felt the Christmas spirit and in classic female fashion became to verclempt to even sing. Dan gave a great solo. The only way we got Kohl to sing was by promising him a glass of eggnog when he got home. I don't get how a kid who hates just about every food I put in front of him actually loves eggnog. I remember as a kid trying the stuff and wanting to throw it right back up.... I will never understand the taste buds of my children.

I'm Back!

Where have I been??? I have been in LazyTown! I just haven't had any desire to post anything, not that there haven't been a million things to post this last month. We just got back from a really fun week in California where we spent 4 days at Disneyland, a day at Sea World, a day at Knott's Berry Farm, and one day just kicking it playing in the ocean. ImageImageImageImage

When we got home last Saturday we were greeted by a huge snow storm, the likes we don't get to see very often here! The kids donned there snow clothes immediately upon arriving home and spent the next hour outside enjoying the winter wonderland. Unfortunately it hasn't stayed and it is now just a very ugly Missouri winter outside!Image
I have a lot more to say about our time, but my two year old is screaming at me and I really just wanted to get something on before you all thought something serious had happened to me. I hope you are all having a great holiday season. The kids are on the major countdown at our house and it couldn't be more exciting.

cupcake fun

Image
Chase and I had lots of fun making cupcakes for Kohl's end of soccer season party. You know the best part is licking the bowl, Chase got that honor!

Is it really over????

Image
We are all in post Halloween depression around our house...it was a good run...three nights of dressing up and getting all of the candy our hearts could desire! Chase really took to the holiday and thought it was the greatest thing ever. He called his pumpkin basket his "Halloween" and was very addicted to it and the candy it held.
ImageBrynn was a beautiful bride and Kohl was a scary mummy. I got to make three mummy costumes because Brynn just had to be a mummy as well and then after trying it on decided that it made her look fat...where would she come up with something like that???? I tried to put Chase into his mummy costume and he just screamed "no" and ran away. I found Brynn's old Robin costume and put that on him instead...a two year old in a body suit and tights is just about the cutest thing ever!
ImageImageImageHere is gang before we set out to hit our neighborhood. We were joined by the Bowen's and Jessop's...
They had a great time going around the neighborhood until about house 3 and then both Brynn and Chase demanded to be carried around, too bad Daddy had to work so late and wasn't able to help carry the kids...let's just say that I got in my workout!

Gone Fishing!

Image
Image

Last Saturday we had the chance to go fishing with the Bowens, we were so excited because they actually have poles and bait...whereas we have nothing to actually fish with. Kohl was delighted to catch his first fish ever...he has been distraught since this summer when we went fishing and Brynn caught a fish and he didn't. The pond is a "catch and release", just my kind of fishing...I don't have to actually deal with the fish the kids catch. After a bit it got to be way more fun to just throw rocks and sticks into the pond rather than actually fishing! Thanks Bowens for a great outing.

Pumpkin Patch Fun!

ImageTis the season of pumpkin hunting, costume preparing, candy eating, and just plain fun. We have had a beautiful fall here with warm, sunny days. I got to go with Brynn on her first fieldtrip to a pumpkin patch/farm. It got to be a bit long and we were all exhausted by the end of the day, but fun was had and that is all that matters. Kohl got to go to the zoo with his class the following day, but I didn't get to chaperon that event. He said he had a great time with his friends and loved trying to find his principal's favorite animal. We have had a lot of fun this month with soccer, birthday parties, trips to the park, and getting ready for Halloween.

Brynn's New Earrings

ImageBrynn has been waiting for a year to get her ears pierced and Mom finally gave in and let her get them done. She was so brave and no tears were shed....until she realized she had to get it in both ears! She has experienced some clausterphobia with the fact that she has to wait for 6 weeks before being able to take them out... but other than that they have been a fun addition to her life. We did experience some drama during the process as I lost Chase and had to call the mall security to track him down. Luckily, he had just ran to the play yard and was completely happy playing while his mom was having a heart attack!

Lots of fun

A big week we have had with the returning of our long, lost Nanna! The kids are so psyched to have her home after a 4 month absence. I wondered if Chase would remember her, but as she walked in the door he ran right to her, gave her a big hug, and yelled, "Grandma!" No need to worry about Chase forgetting his grandma. The kids haven't left her alone since she walked in the door. They were especially thrilled to spend Friday night with her at the McDonald's playland while mom and dad went out on a date...a win-win for all involved. We have to reestablish some boundaries in our home so Nanna gets some private time.
Kohl and Brynn had a fun time in school on Friday as it was their class fall parties. I got to attend both of the parties and run the BINGO game. Kohl informed me that he wished every day was class party day, don't we all? The other fun thing that mom got to do this week was cut Brynn's hair to a chin-length bob. She had been wanting to grow it out, but would not let me do anything fun with it, so it was just hanging there looking a bit sad. When I was done cutting it she went and looked in the mirror and said, " Oh good, you don't see my ears!". Apparently she doesn't want anyone seeing her ears and now I understand why she wouldn't let me cut her hair short, short to her meant hair like brother Kohl's. I had to ask her why she finally let me cut her hair and she replied by telling me that Miss Heinold (kindergarten teacher) cut hers so it would be ok. I think someone really likes their teacher.
Yesterday we got to attend a birthday party with some of our Spanish speaking friends. These people know how to throw a party...complete with clowns tying balloons, doing magic, and putting on tattoos. They had snow cones, Chase's preferred activity, cotton candy, cake, and of course pinatas full of candy...what more could a kid want.
A busy and very fun week we have had.

Happy Days!

I have been neglecting my blog, so here is a quick update of our happenings. The biggest thing to happen since our last post is that the kids have gone back to school. Brynn started kindergarten and Kohl is the big 1st grader. It is sad to have him gone all day! Chase is the lone child at home for 3 hours and he doesn't think it is very cool that his brother and sister get to take a bus without him. Dan and I have enjoyed getting to spend some one-on-one time with our newly 2 year old.

We celebrated Chase's birthday on September 1st with a day at the pool and a Scooby-Doo cake. Chase is obsessed with Scooby...so much that he is often asking for the show at 4am...can you say "ugh"! He has had a lot of fun with his new tryke. He is very much a two year old and is also a big boy, 97% in both height and weight. He is our constant entertainer and we love him so much.

Kohl started soccer this August and had is first two games on Saturday. He loves it and is pretty fun to watch dance around on the field, now if we could just focus on the game for a bit and kick the ball...you gotta love 1st grade soccer.

We got to attend a leg of the first Tour de Missouri. Dan and I love watching the Tour de France and we figured this is the closest we will come to seeing it for awhile. It was very exciting to watch the bikes go by in a blink of an eye. I know some of our favorite riders were in the pack, but I sure couldn't pick them out.

Not much else is going on here. I promise to write more frequently. We are now getting on a pretty good schedule with school underway and things are settling down. Dan is busy getting his reading practice underway. It is exciting to see all of his labor these past 7 years come into fruition. His company is Summit Radiological Consultants, LLC and we hope to have everything ready to go by November 1.

That is all for now, I have posted a lot of new pictures as well as a short video clip of Chase at, http://picasaweb.google.com/haunlori/AugustSeptember2007
