Catching up!

Image
Well, Mom's been with us and I haven't blogged at all. We moved her up to Utah in July and so maybe I need to get blogging again! This summer went too fast. I planted a garden for the 1st time. Tim was too busy to help so he said I had to take care of it myself. I think I did pretty good. He did help me out by building me some raised beds and filling them with garden soil for me. I planted carrots, peas, green bean, leaf lettuce mix and spinach. We also planted tomatoes in buckets and a Topsy Turvey bag (hanging above raised beds.) I enjoyed eating the lettuce all summer long and Tim loved the vine-ripened tomatoes! In the planters by the trees we planted cucumbers, zucchini, bell peppers and chiles. We have a strawberry patch also that does pretty good. New to our gardening family were red and white potatoes! I really got excited when a community member brought 100 lbs. of seed potatoes to Ramah. We planted all the white ones next to the strawberries and the red ones we planted in a barrel. Our garden harvest wasn't that great but I'll be a better gardener next summer! Oh, and miracle of miracles, our apple tree which was about 15 years old and had never had apples on it grew apples this year. I guess the blooms hit right in between 2 frosts and survived! Here are some pics.
