There are so many things Abby and I do together for which I do not have photos!  I don't have the camera phone and I don't always carry my camera. Activities include swimming, sushi, ice skating, park, beach, reading, playing Pokémon, playing "clams" in the bathtub (my hands are her clam friends), and playing with Basil to name a few.

Other news, Abby got the highest math score in her class and has very good grades. She also thinks she draws very well, and I agree.

Recognize that snake? It is the one granddad acquired for Abby at the Dollar store in Anna Maria. It will be traveling with us. She chose Asher (the grey cat we adopted from Juneau) and Snakey.

This is the final book about grandad teaching Abby to swim. In 1st grade they work out concepts in a bubble diagram, write draft text reflecting principles of informational writing, correct and hone their work, and create the final version. Hmm, a future museum exhibit text writer??? Author/illustrator? Or veterinarian.

This is St. Peter's Head, or Bunker Hill, in Chiniak.

In case you did not know, Alaska was the backdoor so to speak for possible invasion of US mainland. After Pearl Harbor, defenses in Alaska were increased dramatically. Kodiak did not see any "action", unlike Kiska, Attu, and Dutch Harbor, but for a brief period of time Fort Greely served as the Alaska Defense Command Headquarters. Remains from WWII dot the Kodiak road system.

Ready Ammunition. Looks way different in the sun. I was there in the rain, and it was much darker.

"I died here", that was Tim's btw, from like a decade ago.

Plotting and spotting bunker. Gas proof. So they could calculate without dying.

I like the switchboard rooms, they got the crazy holes on the floor with really creepy stagnant, and what seems to be indeterminately deep water.
