Dad: Have you heard how you did on your Maths test yet?
Daughter: Nope.
Dad: Well, make sure to let me know as soon as you do... ok?
Daughter: ...Kay.
Dad walks off.
Friend(beside daughter): Uh... I thought you got the test back today?
Daughter: Yeah... Which means I saw it, not heard it.
Adapted from The Straits Times, Life!, 20th September 2007I think I got some idea how to not reveal my prelim results. Lol.
School's so boring nowadays. The more they go through the answers for the Prelims papers, the more pessimistic I become. I can't believe how strict they were at marking the papers. Hais.

Woo, and Physics Paper 1 and 2 concludes the Prelims today.
I got to say this: Paper 2 was one of the lousiest papers in the whole prelims. Lol.
I barely reached the last question, which was supposed to be out of syllabus. Omg. Nearly 10 marks, which was out of syllabus. And I already left a lot of blanks in the previous few pages.
But when I was doing Paper 1, I realised something. Here and there, there were questions that my Physics tuition teacher has already gone through before. I wished I listened to him more -_-
But anyway, I still got quite a few of it. Cos he has already drilled some standard questions into our heads.
And so that concludes the very very very lousy Prelims.
I am going to be amazed if I pass Physics. Lol.
Can't aim very high now that I have seen Paper 1 and 2.
They were horrible.
Anw I watched 'The Invasion' today.
I saw a movie review on it in The Straits Times the other day.
Well, it wasn't as bad as the movie review said, but some parts of the review was quite true.
The ending was very abrupt, and the female lead, Nicole Kidman, could 'teleport' like the movie review said.
But other than that, the action is decent.
A 3 stars rating seem rather suitable for it.
There's room for improvement.
Oh and the best thing is, I have been having a fever for nearly 2 weeks.
Its a record.
Is it going to break my record of coughing for nearly a month?
Hais. Why do I set such stupid records?
The 100 day fever -.-I have seen my Chinese doctor already.
I hope the medicine helps.
It better, cos I don't want a new record.

The Geography paper was this morning.
I hope Ms Zhu doesn't see this, but I didn't study for Geo at all.
I know its quite bad but the time constraint was so tight that I had to give up Geog.
Don't tell her hor!!!!
But the paper was better than what I expected. I managed to write more than what I wrote for mid-years, though I don't think the grades will be much better. Good luck to me then.
Oh yes. The aircon in the hall was super cold. Some people should know how my body reacts to cold environments. Basically, sitting there for 3 hours turned me into a ice statue. My blood was practically frozen, both my hands were numb and I couldn't even feel my pen. I took ages to tie the knot properly on the exam papers cos I couldn't feel the string! 20 minutes after I walked out of the hall, my blood flow was still not restored. I still couldn't feel my fingers. Zkai tried to help. He suggested that stapling my fingers will help encourage blood flow - out of my body though. I didn't try it.
And I did something quite dumb after Geography.
I took my medicine. Then my brain basically shutted down cos the medicine was making me super drowsy.
Anyway. I was awake enough to know I am totally dead for Physics Paper 3. I skipped the whole page on semi-conductors totally cos I haven't even started studying semi-conductors.
And I haven't finished studying Physics yet, including simple harmonic motion, quantum physics, and electric field yet. And yes, that was what came out for Paper 3. Hah.
I am feeling very very very very tired now. Going to catch a nap. Cya.

Maths was today. Paper 1 at least.
Well to put it simply, if there was 200 vocabulary terms for 'GG', there would be 200 vocabulary terms to describe the Maths paper.
Oh well. I thought it was better than mid-years.
Both were horrendous.
But its over. So nvm then. There's still Paper 2 on Friday though I suspect it will bring us down further.

I read a story today.
After reading the story on Zkai's blog again, I recalled a story on Tx's blog which I had set aside, to read at a later date.
Finally, I dedicated some time into reading it today.
Its a simple story, about 2 students, and how the guy did his best to help the girl.
Just like that. No spoilers.
You can read it here:
http://www.goodybooks.com/ibelieveyou.htmA very touching story. The extent the guy went to help the girl.. it was truly amazing.
And there's still the story on Zkai's blog. You can take a look at it. Its still the first post. He hasn't updated since July.

This is a very random blog entry.
Time travel.
Have you heard of the time travel paradox called the grandfather paradox?
Quoted from Wikipedia:
"The paradox is this: Suppose a man traveled back in time and killed his biological grandfather before the latter met the traveller's grandmother. As a result, one of the traveller's parents (and by extension, the traveller himself) would never have been conceived. This would imply that he could not have travelled back in time after all, which in turn implies the grandfather would still be alive, and the traveller would have been conceived, allowing him to travel back in time and kill his grandfather. Thus each possibility seems to imply its own negation, a type of logical paradox. It would either mean:
- The killer would vanish as soon as he killed his grandfather.
- The grandfather would not be killed. "That can't be possible, isn't it? There must be some ending.
Another theory, Novikov's self-consistency principle, would be a more probable theory to explain the effects of time-travel. And its also a theory that I am more agreeable with. Assuming that history has already happened, and every single moment in time has already occured, including the future, that means that if someone goes back in time to do something, it would have already occured.
This can be explained simply. Let's say... a person in Singapore invents a time machine and go back in time to find out how Raffles found Singapore. But it turns out that Raffles had no intention to find a trading port and just wanted to stay in Britain to stone. But according to the person's knowledge of history, he knows that Raffles founded Singapore as a trading port. So he goes to Britain and convince Raffles to go to South East Asia to found a trading port on this island and to name it Singapore. And Raffles did. And Singapore was founded. That means history was fulfilled and remain unchanged since it already happened.
Or maybe we can use the example from Harry Potter. Harry used the Time-turner and hid himself near a spot where he thought he saw his father cast the Patronus Charm(Expecto Patronum). In the end, he concluded that it was not his father but it was him who casted the Patronus Charm, so he stands up and casts it, and he succeeds in doing so because he has already succeeded before. History has already occured, so he couldn't have failed because he has already seen himself succeed. So history was fulfilled.
So my conclusion is that a person cannot go back in time to kill himself or his grandfather before his father was conceived or anything that will affect his birth or his eventual invention of a time machine or his eventual decision to go back in time because every moment in time has already occured and he has already gone back in time. Somehow something would happen that would cause him to fail to kill his grandfather because he has already been born, implying that his grandfather had survived to the point where his father was conceived, and because all this has already occured.
What about the discussion of the emergence of different timelines?
Say a person goes back in time and really succeeds in killing Newton. Some people assume that a new timeline will then emerge, where Newton never existed and he never came up with the 3 laws. Perhaps someone else did. Perhaps the US president was Weird Al instead of Bush.
My argument to this is that if a person can really succeed in killing Newton, that means Newton would have been killed the instant the person thought of killing Newton. That means Newton died long ago before the killer was even destined to born.
Thinking of this, perhaps Newton wasn't the 1st person to come up with the 3 laws. Perhaps someone else in another timeline did.
So what is the conclusion? The timeline we are living in now, is the final timeline after every person who travelled in time(assuming we figure how to do so in future) went back and did something that changed the timeline. So we are governed in reality by only one timeline. Everything in our timeline has already happened. We cannot change anything else because there can be no more change. And there is a word for it. A word we have known before people started debating over time machines.
Destiny. We are governed by destiny.Labels: special articles

Ok I guess I am blogging this pretty late.
Anyway I watched Ratatouille(Rat-ta-too-ee) last Saturday.
A very inspiring show, I must say.
Not so much of a touching scene; after all its a comedy, but I would advise people to catch it anyway.
Its a 5 star movie! There aren't many 5-star ratings nowadays.
Anyway. I figure I will blog less now, though I am already doing so.
Work hard for your exams people. All the best and let's see who gets the least 'U's. Lol.
Ok alright. Not 'U's perhaps. The least fail grades.Labels: movie/documentary
