The last post

Hello people... this will be my last post in this blog. Been blogging for the past 9 months. At first, took up blogging out of curiosity and boredom. Eventually, learned how to manage a blog... creating simple template, adding page elements, editing HTML script and it was fun. Definitely all of u will ask me this question... why stopped blogging? Hmm... I have the answer to that question... but keep it to myself.

Since this is my last blog entry, I will write a long entry today and update what I've done for the past few weeks since new year. Year 2007 has been a smooth and fulfilling year for me even though it was stated that the piggy year will clash with people born in the year of pig. Indeed, I have experienced some unhappiness during early Jan 07, however the remaining months goes very well for me... in whatever i do and wish for. And I did not regret the decision that i have made. Overall, 2007 was a good and healthy year as I have learned a lot of new knowledge... exercise regularly, befriended many new friends and found back many of my old friends that I have previously lost in touch with.

YEAR 2008... the year that will marks one of the important milestones in my life... and I'm looking forward to it. I set a few new year resolutions and what i wish to achieve at the end of 2008.

1) Learn Scuba diving

I have been procrastinating since ages and wanted to try it since my poly school days. I aimed to achieve a basic diving certificate to allow me to dive during the day... I love to explore the underwater world... to able to feel and touch those exotic marine fishes, corals and sea animals. Able to bask myself in the sun too.

2) Learn cookery and baking

Some of my friends are real pro in baking and have many recipes book... so count on them to lend me those books and they are very enthusiastic to be my guinea pig. Will also learn cooking from my mum... till now i only know how to fry eggs, cook rice and maggi mee... hope to learn to whip up simple chinese dishes.

3) Donating blood
Will be able to fulfill this very soon... since my weight has hit the minimum weight requirement... YL and I will be going to the Blood bank @ HSA together... donating blood is to donate life, this little contribution will go a long way in saving the lives of others.

There are some other resolutions that I prefer to keep it to myself... and i can foresee that this year will be a hectic year for me.

NEW YEAR CELEBRATION

Went to countdown at Sentosa and attended the Siloso Beach party, we had free tickets entry... the atmosphere was very lively...many mini tents selling food and alcoholic drinks... as usual, there was a foam party, DJs, loud music and fireworks... a big crowd of people... also watch the musical fountain again... since there were free tickets. Able to take better shots this time round...

Also met up at JP crystal Jade with Xiang and rest of the guys for dinner few weeks ago, on a sun... together wif Ling and Qing. Egeria was the one who initiated the gathering. Too bad... Xiong and Andy can't make it. Great to see them again... and we are still able to gather together after so many years of leaving sec school. Because of military band... we are still in contact. Really miss the band days... performing on the stage, performing during competition and speech day, marching... even though band took up lots of my time during sec school... had our band practices 4 times a week (Mon, Wed, Fri and Sat). I never once regretted that i joined the band.. else i wun get to know these seniors... wun get to know Qing, my sister. At least, know how to play this musical instrument.. flute. Our repertoire consists of phantom of the opera, stand by me, colours of the wind and many more... and also our school song...lolz. Our school band had won a sliver medal in Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) in 2005... a vast great achievement and really proud of those juniors cos it was wat i wished to achieve during my sec sch days. Band is all about TEAM WORK... even playing the music score... we need to work together closely to bring out the best of that particular music score. Every section will need to know what is their role to play and which section plays the the focus of the song... which section plays the background music... Through band, I also know how to open up myself, gain leadership qualities, be a organiser having responsibilities... I used to be a quiet, timid gal in the past, dun dare to express myself. Now... ppl describe me as a friendly person... chatty... and humourous.... a 360 degrees change. Haaa...

Yup.. back again... was also busy preparing my exams... ended at 16th Jan... after that, still have to rush out 2 lab reports straight after my exam for the two subject modules... time was really tight for me back then. Now can finally relax... enjoy the upcoming CNY break. Recently, also went a short trip to JB... not city square but went to Jusco at Tebrau city... its about a 15 mins cab ride from the malaysia woodlands causeway...went there with my colleague Lee Lee. The shopping mall has 3 levels, quite big but not as big as vivo city. Many branded shops are also there such as Esprit, Guess and mango... also got a cinema theatre. Plus... a huge departmental store Jusco. Another option to shop there when u guys are at JB.

After CNY, will have to start preparing my thesis topic... first draft of 2500 words have to be handed on the 28th of Mar. Haven't started looking for journals yet. My thesis topic - Discuss the role of homocysteine in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. (Include in your essay a review of the scientific evidence which has contributed to your current understanding). Still haven't organise my thoughts on my thesis yet.

Here are some fluorscence microscopy slides that I wish to share with you guys... nicely stained slides... currently these slides are some of the stuff i'm working now. These pics are cardiomyocytes cells which are also commonly known as heart stem cells. Those portions that are stained in red colour are contractile proteins which help the heart to contract in order to pump blood. Those portions that are stained green is a transcription factor NKx2.5 found in the nucleus. And those portions that are stained blue are the nucleus of the cardiomyocytes. Pretty aren't they?

Merry Xmas!!!

To all my friends... Merry Christmas!!! 2007 is coming to an end very soon... and going to welcome the new year 2008. Nowadays... all of us are having holiday mood... enjoying the festive seasons and celebrations.

I looked kinda mature in those photos... most proberly due to my hairstyle ba.. permed wavy hairdo... long time le... last time since poly, went to perm my hair. Ha..ha... those above poses are taught by the photographer.

And recently, also went ice skating with my colleagues at JE Fuji ice palace on the hari raya haji morning. The last time i skated, I was still Pri 6... reminisce back the old memories. Ice skating really bring out the christmas mood with the xmas carols songs playing.

Ya... went to have dinner at Boon Lay Raja seafood restaurant with my sis and my mum to celebrate their bdays. They are both Dec babies... we ordered a lot of food especially the seafood and their prices are very reasonable and dishes taste good too. Highly recommended!

Xmas eve... spend the night with my lovely sisters... has been our long term tradition to spend the night together and making hand-made xmas presents for them without fail... a decade ever since we are 15 yrs old. This year, we spend the night at Qing's new house... she got the keys but her renovation haven't started yet. The challenge - There aren't any lights and no furniture at all! We have to bring many portable lights... fan... and mattress... but the water and electric supply are already on. Its a whole new exciting experience to ton at an empty house, just the 4 of us! We had lots of laughter and fun... we brought along laptop to watch "la bi xiao xin" vcds... play xmas songs... ordered pizza hut delivery. After that, our xmas gift exhange...

After dinner, we began to change into our pyjamas... haa... supposely we have this costume thingy which is to make a costume and we will wear the hand-make costume... but last min, we scrapped the idea cos no time to do... so we decided to have a slumber pyjamas party... haaa... took many photos!

First to open up my presents... I gave them a decorated water bottles... with their names on it. When they drink H20, they can think of me... hee...

Next is to open up Qing's presents... She made a stone weight... to place above those paper documents... handy. She collected those stones from Taiwan... and wrote some wordings on the stones " Dearest sis : Merry Xmas! While you r stoning, look at this stone to miss me! Qing " Haaa...

Lastly, Ling's gifts... her gift is superb huge... made us wonder wat is inside... and suprisely, she made dustbins for us... whaha...

As usual, we had fun opening up during xmas presents every year... no matter wat, its the thought, time and effort that counts in making the gifts... precious... cos cannot find else where outside... the one and only...

The next morning... we cleared up and the whole place is empty again.
