.Lovin' Vietnam with style.

Travelling to Ho Chi Minh with only 4 days in hand, here's what we did:

Day 1 | Ho Chi Minh City.
We booked a half day tour with Saigon Hotpot for the afternoon commencing as soon as we touched down the city. Saigon Hotpot was established in 2006. It was among the first voluntary clubs run by Vietnamese students from different universities, providing city tours at nil cost (except for their meal & transportation cost).

Besides the usual tourist spot e.g. Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Saigon Opera House, Saigon Central Post Office, etc. they brought us through the streets of Ho Chi Minh on a local food hunt. Literally doing it like the locals!

More local food recommended:

Approaching sunset, we stroll by the Saigon river appreciating the majestic view. For dinner, we went to Ben Thanh night market - food, drinks & booze.

Day 2 | Cu Chi Tunnel & Cao Dai Temple.
Since we covered pretty much of the city in Day 1, we took on a local tour with The Sinh Tourist to Cu Chi Tunnel & Cao Dai TempleUnlike other tour companies that cost a bomb via USD, this humble tour company charges reasonably via VND. Locally recommended too.

Day 3 | Mekong Delta- My Tho Ben Tre & Chill Skybar.
Another must visit is the Mekong Delta.

The are two 1-day trips to Mekong Delta with The Sinh Tourist,
i. Cai Be Vinh Long
ii. My Tho and Ben Tre

We personally chose the second trip over the first one since we were more interested with the rowing-boat ride along the mangrove palm creek than the floating market (which is pretty similar to the ones in Bangkok).

Boat ride along the mangrove palm creek
As little as USD10 for the whole day (meals included), I had a fab time!
If you have more days to spare, here are other Mekong Trips exceeding 1 day.

Late night, we visited one of the recommended skybar - Chill Skybar - overseeing the city lights of Ho Chi Minh from above.

We had two options in mind, the other being Alto bar in Bitexco Tower since it's located on a higher floor (58th vs 26th). With Alto being an indoor bar, we decided to visit Chill instead since it has an outdoor deck.

We later read this review on Tripadvisor & was thankful we made the right choice.

Day 4 | Ho Chi Minh city.
As our flight was in the late afternoon, we visited the War Remnants Museum (District 3) and Bitexco Tower in the morning.

Lastly, accommodation.

We stayed with Town House 50 at a pretty budgeted price for one triple-bedroom and one twin-bedroom. Though with the budget, I'd say the management did an impressive job in maintaining & decorating the place. Breakfast included as well! Check these out:
