Mabel - always a character
Mabel came downstairs the other night dressed like this. She said she needed to go swimming. Then she proceeded to run around the house pretending to swim. Note the stamps on her body. It says "created especially for you by NataLee" It's the stamp I use on the back of my handmade cards.

Mabel was painting yesterday. When I noticed she had moved from painting the paper to painting her hands, I told her if she was going to paint her hands, we might as well paint them all. So we put paint all over her hands and then made handprints on the paper. I told her we could cut them out and make turkeys. She told me she didn't want to make turkeys, she wanted to make a panda bear. So she asked for some white and black paper and got to work. She would ask me to cut out circles, etc. and then she taped them all together and made her panda. Don't you think it is cute? I just love her tall, skinny panda bear -- much better than those turkeys I made.

Snow White and Trick or Treating
When it was time to get ready for Halloween, Mabel decided she didn't want to be a Witch anymore. She wanted to be Snow White. Her uncle Howard bought her a Snow White costume for her birthday, so she was excited to wear that. She didn't however, want to go trick or treating. But her friends came trick or treating to our house and convinced her to go. She had a fun time saying trick or treat with her little friends and her daddy. Her mommy was upstairs in bed with baby sister since they just got home from the hospital that day.

Our Little Witch
When I asked Mabel what she wanted to be for Halloween, she tol me she wanted to be a monster. I waited a few days -- I thought maybe that idea would go away and she'd want to be a princess or something. I actually was trying to get her to be Strawberry Shortcake since I already basically had a costume for her from her birthday or Snow White since her Uncle Howard and cousin Dallas bought her a Snow White dress for her birthday, but no, she insisted on being a monster. A couple weeks ago we got a Halloween costume book ad in the mail with hundreds of costumes in it. I got her to sit down and look at it with me. I figured when she saw all the cute little girls costumes, she would want one of those. I asked her which one she wanted to be. She found a horrific looking monster costume for a teenage boy with a terrible mask and said that that is what she wanted to be. First of all, they don't make costumes like that for 3 year olds (thank goodness) and second of all, even if they did, I was not going to let her wear something like that. After some thinking, I eventually convinced her into a witch -- this way she could still be "scary" and cute. So I got her a little witch outfit and a cheep black wig. And while she thinks she is scary, I think she is pretty cute.

Mabel's favorite dress
Mabel loves this little Red and White striped dress. If it is clean in her closet and she gets to pick what she wears, she will always choose this dress. Today, she got herself dressed, so of course she chose her favorite dress. She just forgot to take off her pink cloud pajamas before putting on her dress, and she insists on keeping them on. She is a funny one.

Mabel Turned 3
Mabel turned 3 this week and we had a little Strawberry Shortcake Party for her. She loved it.
Meet Strawberry Shortcake:

Opening Presents:

I think everyone had a fun time. For Mabel's birthday, Fred and I gave her a new room. Fred painted it and we got her a little bed and she got to pick out the bedding and a special night light. She loves her new big girl room and big girl bed and she has slept in her new bed every night since her birthday. Daddy tells her a couple stories and then says good night and she hasn't come out of her room yet until morning. Amazing.
