So, Funny Story

Twas a few days before Christmas and I was about to leave the baren land of the mountains and head to much greener pastures. (seriously, they really are greener). Rushing and Dashing and Thrashing all about... well, perhaps not thrashing... my sister, brother-in-law, and I scrambled about. The minute we began packing the car, swooosh! The wind began. Down came the rain, sleet, snow, and hail. Crack went the thunder as the sky was alighted.

From center street to parkway was a half hour drive on the interstate. From Provo to Salt Lake City was a three hour drive. We made it home 23 hours later. It should have only taken 18.

The way back was even better. We were crusing along. I took over the wheel a quarter to two a.m. I continued to cruise. Then all of the sudden... ICE!!! And they closed the interstate in Wyoming! We were only (in good conditions) five and a half hours away from Provo! So at 4:30 we found a little corner of a parking lot, slightly away from the myriad of semi's piling up all over the town. We tried to sleep- kinda hard and rather cold. At 7 in the morning, the interstates were still closed. We went to go find a breakfast joint to have something to eat and defrost in. We found the local hotspot... seriously, standing room only.

While we were there, they opened the interstate again. So we headed out again, I was at the wheel. We were clipping along at a rather astonishing speed- 70 mph. It got a little icy in parts, but I handled it just fine. Until...

Part two to come...
