Don't Breath

So - it has been YUCKY here the past couple of days. The smog gets so bad that I can't see the mountains and I really don't want to go outside for any reason. It makes me think of this John Denver song:

The sun is slowly fading in the western sky
Sometimes it takes forever the day to end
Sometimes it takes a lifetime
Sometimes I think I`ll never see the sun again

There`s a heavy fog between me and the mountains
It`s enough to make a grown man sit and cry
It`s enough to make you wonder
It`s enough to make the world roll up and die

I think it`s kind of interesting the way things get to be
The way the people work with their machines
Serenity`s a long time coming to me
In fact I don`t believe I know what it means

In the east a shaded moon is hanging lazily
I do believe I saw the old man smile
I do believe I did
I do believe he`s been laughing all the while

I think it`s kind of interesting the way things get to be
The way the people work with their machines
Serenity`s a long time coming to me
In fact I don`t believe I know what it means
Anymore

The sun is slowly fading in the western sky
Sometimes it takes forever the day to end
Sometimes it takes a lifetime
Sometimes I think I`ll never see the sun again

I know he says fog - replace it with Smog and it fits a little better. But I am glad it is raining today and that the air will be clearing up.

Our House (Finally)

Today was the big day! We went to the title company and closed on our house. It has been a long time coming. We started looking at houses about 9 months ago. It was crazy. We couldn't agree on anything. The houses I liked Matt hated, and vice versa. It seemed as if we were trapped in an everlasting deadlock.

Finally, we noticed a home in our neighborhood (actually in the same ward) and decided to walk through it. It was great! We both agreed that it was the house for us! We put an offer on the house and it was accepted on Christmas Eve. Since then we have just been playing the game with all the forms and fun stuff that you have to fill out to get a house. Then finally today - the papers are signed and our part of the deal is over.

Unfortunately the owners of the house haven't signed the paperwork yet so we don't have keys, but we will get them soon and then I will post pictures of our new place!

Until then, here is an outside shot of the house (for those of you that are curious).Image
Oh - and we are planning on moving our stuff next Tuesday evening (that is the 27th) so if you want to come help us move we would love it! We can definitely use the help.

January Slacker

OK, so I have been a blogger slacker for the past week or so. It's not because we have been busy, but because I haven't taken any pictures, and I like posts with pictures. But - just to get one out I will post with no pics and come back later.

ImageLast week was my birthday! Yep, I am 29 now. My birthday was on a Monday - which is never any fun - but on Sunday night I was able to go to my parent's house and play with my family for my birthday that was fun. Monday Matt took really good care of me. He sent me flowers and work, and put "Happy Birthday" banners up all over the house. (I still haven't taken them down). It snowed really hard that day - but we braved it and went out to dinner. It was a wonderful birthday.

Not much else has really happened since then. I took the first part of my CIA (certified internal auditor) exam last Friday. I was stressed out because I wasn't sure what to expect, but I passed. I have two more sections to go and then I should be done with tests for a long time.

Matt's friends came up on Saturday and we went out to dinner and then the boys played board games. We had a good time.

ImageMatt started school up again today. He is taking a few classes down at the U, but this should be his last semester and then he will be officially graduated. I know I am excited for that. It is going to be a hard semester - mostly for me - because I am used to having Matt around all the time and he is going to be focused on school. But we will make it though, and it will be good training for me because he intends to get his Master's degree someday too, so I need to get used to being the wife of a student.

So that is our life of the past few weeks. I am looking forward to spring - is it here yet?

Happy New Year!

We had a Great Year in 2008! I was looking back at the entries, and we really did have a good time. To end the year in style, we went to my sister Chrystie's house and had a good time playing the Wii. Chrystie bought us "Happy New Year" crowns and we had Mexican food and cup cakes and brownies. So much fun!

Anyway - at the risk of being killed or at least hated by all the stars of this video, here is a short movie of us having fun playing on the Wii.

Wishing you all a Great New Year!
