Spring!

Well - it is officially spring in Utah - because it was about 70 degrees on Monday and then it snowed by Wednesday - and 70 again on the weekend.

Emie has been doing a lot better since going on the antibiotics - other than the day we realized she might be allergic to the antibiotics.  Her legs broke out in a hive like rash. Poor baby girl. But she recovered from that quickly and has been doing great. Her runny nose and cough, which had been with her for almost a month, are all cleared up. She is a happy baby.

We are getting into a pretty nice routine on warm days - where I have just enough time to take her for a nice walk outside after I get home and before she wants a little nap or more food. When it snows we are both a little sad about having to stay inside.

The week was pretty standard - I had the mother/daughter activity for Achievement days on Wednesday - so Matt had to take over and watch the baby that night. It was nice to be done with that - for some reason they stress me out!

Saturday we took Emie to my parent's house for so they could watch her while we went out to dinner for a date. It is nice to get some time together with just Matt where we don't have to worry about the baby for an hour or two. But we are always happy to pick her back up and take her home.

Sunday we ventured out to take Emie to church. She hasn't been in a while since she has been sick for so long. But we got her dressed in a dress that someone gave us, and we ventured out. She did great! She fell asleep during Sacrament meeting and just woke up at the end so help us sing the closing hymn (she loves to sing!)

Matt's mom came over this afternoon and brought the McCoy kids with her. They will be moving to Seattle sometime in the next week or so - so it was good to spend some time with them. They taught Matt how to play Minecraft (so he can play with them once they move) and then we went for a walk down to the river to throw rocks. Carson was able to skip a rock once, the other's are still working on it. It may take some time - I still am not good at skipping rocks.

What a Great Weekend!

Happy Birthday Grandma Wilson

It was my Grandma Wilson's 94th Birthday! We went to her house to celebrate. She is doing great at home and we lover her so much. My mom made some sloppy joes for everyone to enjoy and I made some cup cakes. Chrystie brought a potato salad - so we had a party. My aunt Linda was there were her dog Honey - but they left before we ate to avoid the dog being fed too many table scraps. I brought some party hats for the kids - and they actually wore them! Here are pictures with them and Grandma.

We had a great time and are looking forward to more birthday parties for Grandma Wilson.

5 Months!

Emilia is 5 Months Old!

She is getting so big - about 17.2 pounds and around 27 inches (no official stats until 6 month visit). She loves to sit up and look around her. She is never so happy as when she can get a hand on the cat. Favorite song is still the "itsy bitsy spider" - it never gets old. She has the cutest two bottom teeth - but they hurt if she bites you.

Love this girl!

Happy Easter

Because Emie had been sick a couple days before, we ended up being home for Easter instead of at the cabin. This was a slight bummer because I hadn't purchased any Easter Candy for us since I was counting on eating some of the candy my mom was sure to purchase. It was kind of a good thing, because I didn't have any Easter Candy to eat.

It was conference, so there was no church to go to - but I wanted to put Emie in the Easter Dress I bought for her anyway (I bought it before I realized that Easter and Conference were the same). It is a little big, so she will be able to wear it all summer.

After pictures we took her out of the dress and let her relax in a nice Easter onsie and comfortable pants. Everyone should be comfortable when watching conference at home. She was in a  really good mood after having been really sick a couple of days before - and we were having so much fun playing with her. One of here favorite things was to play with some balloons that Matt had received for his birthday in February. They were just flat enough for her to grab hold of and they no longer floated away.

Spring Break

Matt was off this week for Spring Break, so he and Emie got to spend a lot of time together while I went to work. They did a really good job together. Emie is getting bigger and smarter everyday. She now prefers to be sitting up to laying down (too bad she isn't yet good at sitting up by herself). She loves to roll from her front to her back - so tummy time doesn't last long anymore. She then will roll up onto her side. She has great hand control and can put whatever she wants to right in her mouth!

Wednesday was April 1st. I didn't play any April Fools jokes at home, but while I was feeding Emie in the morning before work I printed some signs to use as jokes at work. I printed two "use other door" signs and put them on the two doors leading into my section of the office. I also found some voice activation instructions for the printers. I know a couple people fell for the doors, disappointingly no one spoke to the printer.

Matt and Emie came to meet me for lunch one day and we went up to the duck pond for a nice walk. It was really great to see them and to take a walk during my lunch. It was also nice to enjoy the good weather, because it has been a roller coaster lately.

On Friday I went home for lunch and Emie was having a really hard time. She had woken up screaming about a half an hour before I got home and was totally inconsolable. She didn't want to eat and just wasn't happy. I was able to rock her to sleep and then I had to go back to work - so I left Matt in the recliner in the nursery with her and wished him luck.

We had planned to go to Bear Lake for the weekend to watch conference and celebrate Easter with my family. Matt called me at work about 4:30 to ask if that was something I still wanted to try and do because the baby wasn't doing well. I left work to go home and better assess the situation.

Emie was totally lethargic.  She didn't want to play or anything at all. She would just lay her head down and sleep wherever she was. She didn't want to eat- which is totally out of character - so we determined a trip to the clinic was in order.

On our way to the clinic we stopped by a dinner that Matt's college math friends were having. We had planned on going to that before we went to the cabin, and thought it was still important enough to make an appearance. We did that quickly and then headed to the clinic with the shortest wait time online.

We got there and it didn't take long to get in the room to see the PA that was suck working that night. The weighed Emie and took her temp - which didn't register as high - and then we went in to wait for the PA. She looked the baby over and with one look in her ear determined she had an ear infection. It made sense since she had been suffering from a cold for a few weeks. We got a prescription for an antibiotic and then went home.

We gave her the first dose and then put her to bed. Not much later we noticed her being really fussy in bed, but not being awake. I check and she had a crazy high temperature. We consulted the information given us by the doctor, and knew that there wasn't much we needed to do. We already knew what was causing it - because she had an ear infection - so there wasn't much to do but snuggle with her on the recliner through the night to make sure she could stay asleep. I stayed up with her and pretty much continuously checked her temperature to make sure it didn't pass the threshold of where we needed to panic. Finally about 5am she calmed down and went into a peaceful sleep - and so did I. But it was a crazy night.

Saturday morning she took a long nap - and then like magic was acting like she was feeling better! I was so Happy!

I am starting to slow down on taking pictures, but here are some of her on Wednesday.
