Yesterday morning I was awakened at 5:45 by Reagan -she happened to be sleeping next to me. She was awake for the day. Reagan inherited her Dad's early morning genes and every now and then will wake up extra early. I was delirious and didn't give it another thought.
10 minutes later I was awake. My three oldest were in Will and Ainsley's room arguing very loudly. It quickly woke me up and also Paige in the room next door. I was not a happy mamma. What in the world was going on? Why were my kids awake before 6 am (two days after daylight savings), and why were they fighting?
Reagan has had a spying itch as of recently. She had convinced her brother and sister that she would wake up early and wake them up and then they would spy. She was completely dressed in black and the others had outfits to wear also. They encountered problems when they couldn't agree on how they would spy. (Not to mention what are they spying on?) She also didn't count on her brother and sister losing their enthusiasm during the night and wanting to sleep instead of spy.
Today this is all funny to me. Yesterday, not so much. I am still up with Paige in the nights and have been fighting sickness so this awesome early start to my day was not what the doctor ordered. I have to hand it to Reagan. She is intensely creative. She goes full steam and doesn't give up. Today she is home sick and is watching Spy Kids. I guess the spying craze hasn't worn off yet.
Will ended up crashing after lunch and slept for four hours. I tried waking him several times after 2 hours. He has been fighting a cold and the early morning just did him in. He woke up happy and ready to go for hours. Awesome.
I was laughing when he came in to me and had changed his clothing. I asked why he changed and he explained to me that sleeping for a long time makes your clothes get wet. I asked if he had an accident. He said nope. He had checked the couch and there were no wet spots so he was just sweaty. I explained that the leather couch wouldn't have a wet spot and he should go smell his clothes. He came running back to me. "Mom, you were right. They smelled like horrible just like pee. I guess I did have an accident!" Silly kid.

This dude is the coolest!
Loving Ainsley's hair, and Reagan's dancing in my shoes
Canning! I love canning. This is something I realized about myself this past year. Canning brings me a ton of satisfaction. I love it.

Soccer
I love watching the kids play soccer. I love playing soccer myself. All three of the older kids played this fall. All three had a great time. Soccer really clicked for Reagan this past year. She loves playing and is actually quite good. She started to think about strategy and would really go after the ball. She loves playing offense and managed to score goals every game.
One day she told me, "mom, I figured out that when there is a group around the ball, if I sit back and wait, the ball will get kicked out of the group and then I can take it." Reagan used to be a little scared of the ball hitting her (she took a pretty big hit this spring) until we went to a BYU Womens soccer game. Reagan watched a couple of girls take some big hits and she was surprised by their toughness. From that time on, the fear has been gone.
The pictures were taken one day when Ainsley, Will and Paige were happy playing on the sidelines and I looked up and realized that we live in a pretty amazing place. The scenery alone was breathtaking. It is a good time right now. Busy but very good.

Nights with Paigey
Yep, Paige is still up in the night. Every night. She is hungry and eats a meal in the middle of the night and usually nurses as well. Marcus takes the meal shift. She is a small fry so we "deal with it" as the pediatrician commented. Paige will not take a bottle or drink any milk/formula from a sippy cup. She is also my pickiest eater. All of this equals a baby that is barely making it on the nutrition side of things. She will still eat baby oatmeal mixed (heavily) with formula. Usually 2 scoops formula to 1 scoop oatmeal. This is her midnight snack (well more like 4 am snack). Oh the things we do for these little darlings!

Lemonade Stand
One of the items on our bucket list for summer was a Lemonade Stand. For some reason I was dreading this item so it waited until the very end of summer. We live on a street that doesn't get very much traffic. Great for kids riding bikes or playing but not so hot for a lemonade stand. This did not stop their enthusiasm. In fact, it fueled Marcus and his ability to create fun.
It was a super hot day so shade was created. We also had baked goods and I posted our little stand on FB so the ward would know. The real kicker was when Marcus brought out the karaoke machine for tunes and microphones. If people didn't know we were here... he would let them know. Our poor neighbors! They were so kind and listened to my kids on the microphone (very loudly) for three hours. The kids had a blast.

Horseback Riding with Susan
The kids love Susan from Marcus' work. Love her. She had invited us to go horseback riding for quite awhile before we finally took her up on it. We went in September. The kids were in heaven. Reagan was able to give it a try on her own and did really well. Our entire family had a great evening.

Family Reunion Pictures July 2013 - Horses and Movie Night
I have been looking for some house pictures and am finding some other fun pictures so to keep with this year's theme of complete chaos... here is the beginning of some very out-of-order posting.
One of the highlights of the family reunion was horse back riding. It has, in fact, been the beginning of much pleading for us to get a horse or have riding lessons. I must admit that I understand how they feel. When I was little I wanted a horse desperately. My parents almost purchased one to keep at my Uncle Kemp's in Nephi.
Another fun night with the cousins. The huge sleepover.

Happy Halloween!
Marcus and I have been working like dogs lately and so our Halloween morning started out more rushed and hectic than usual. We miraculously managed to keep the tradition of pumpkin shaped pancakes going (I was in a tired stupor making pancakes when Reagan reminded me of the brilliant, and much easier, oatmeal that I made last year. Darn!). We whipped out some last minute costume adjustments and barely made it to school on time. But we did make it. It was the very rushed beginning to a long yet fulfilling day.
I picked Ainsley up from school a mere two hours later and heard about all the fun she had. After a quick lunch at home we headed back to the school for the traditional costume parade. Ainsley, unexpectedly, was able to join the afternoon class for the parade which made her day.
An hour later we were back at the school again to pick up Reagan. After a quick snack we loaded up and were on our way to say hello to Grandpa, Grandma at work, and then Marcus' work. My dad dressed up as Elf this year and I took the kids to see him at work. They were unimpressed because they had seen him wear the costume for Christmas last year. Reagan even said, "That is an old costume. It is getting boring. Is he going to wear it every year?" I about died. Let me assure you, my dad in an Elf costume will never be boring! It kills me every time.
After a brief stop at Grandma's work we headed to Marcus' office. They love to trick-or-treat at his office. Last year I stayed in the car because Paige was little and sleeping. It was fun to go in this time and get a tour of the building and meet many of Marcus' colleagues.
Trick-or-treating was especially fun this year. Marcus said it was the perfect combination somehow. We saw many friends and ward members. The kids came home with TONS of candy. I am still shocked at how much they got. We were also able to stop at Ainsley's teacher's home on the way to Grandma and Grandpa's house and that was a fun treat for the kids as well.
At my parents house the kids had fun helping Grandpa scare the kids coming to trick-or-treat. We also visited a few houses in the neighborhood. It was a late night but a very good night.
I love Halloween. We all love Halloween!
For my own documentation:
Reagan's costume: Used Wonder Woman's bodysuit from last year as gymnast leotard and added a workout set we purchased.
Ainsley's Costume: Intended to make but a friend ended up making it for me. (Is that cheating:)?)
Will's costume: He picked out at Costco. I was thrilled.
Paige's costume: Same Tiger costume that Reagan and Ainsley wore (I think we tried to have Will wear it also but the night of Halloween we realized he was waaay too big for it so he went sans costume that year)
